12/09/2015 Riverhead 84 Lumber Yard Fire

Suspicious fire in Riverhead Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
At approx. 2:30 p.m. Riverhead authorities were alerted about a commercial structure fire at the vacant 84 Lumber Yard located at 1751 W. Main St. First arriving units confirmed it was a working fire and requested mutual aid from numerous surrounding departments. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and heat conditions upon entry to the building but were able to extinguish the fire in about a half an hour. Riverhead fire marshals are investigating and the Town of Riverhead requested a bulldozer to the scene for possible demolition of the building. No injuries at this time.
