If you do end up doing Project 8 for the PS2, be warned that if you max out your stats, some goals become impossible because you end up overshooting your jumps (and you can't lower your stats once applied)
Huh, I kinda like how the level layouts look for the PS1 version. Some of them look like they flow better than the PS2 versions. Whoever was in charge of simplifying them for the platform did a good job
tony4 on the ps1 was legitimately my first videogame ever, i remember trying to grind round and around the small fountain thingy in college, good times
Its genuinely wild to see ya play through stuff like Sewers with this versions and seeing a different playstyle alongside different struggles to things compared to my own experience and playstyle (grind heavy vs flip/grab heavy). I liked PS1 THPS4 alot and think its a cool different experience from THPS4 PS2/Xbox/PC, which is a game i grew up with ultimately. I even like Sewers more than Zoo ultimately, and i like the different look some levels gets, like Nighttime Kona is pretty cool looking to me and honestly looks more interesting than normal Morning Kona. I know ya wont end up playing this version ever again, but gg on getting through it regardless mate, even if i ended up surprised by what ya struggled with compared to what you were able to get done better/faster than i could. - Xin (LP'd THPS4 100% back in 2016) P.S. Little Big World sucks the most from this, 100%. It's Chopper Drop bad.
I just bought this cause why not lol. Also have it on Ps2. This game is bad…everyone has the wrong special tricks. Bob doesn’t even have any of specials correctly not even 1Ft Smith.
Picked up Tony Hawk 1 and 2 for the Switch. (Don't own a PS5 or Xbox at the moment) Really enjoyed it. Got it last week. Popped in Tony Hawk 2 on my Playstation 1 last night and the game still holds up. Actually enjoyed the grit look of the PS1 era graphics over the Gap commercial pretty preppy colors of the 1 and 2 remaster. Skating should never look that pretty. Need to find my copy of THPS 1 now. Dreamcast versions was nice. Had 2x on Xbox also was fun.
I played this when I was hospitalized back in 2002 or whenever it came out :P the hospital had a library where you could borrow a ps1 and games and bring to your room :p
this version of thps4 is the first game i ever played in my life, so i have bias and nostalgia towards it that sometimes i could even prefer it over the ps2 version, hell, i even thought the ps2 one was after this, i feel the same way about ps1 thps3. thanks for playing it, i had no idea about going out of bounds and the first note of a song playing after pausing, and apparently every stage having a specific song heh
0:38 This is the only version of THPS4 with realtime 3D-rendered gameplay demonstrations, as the other versions use pre-rendered FMVs edited together to the music track that's playing, like if it was some kind of montage video. Speaking of the demonstrations, this is the only version of THPS4 that allows saving and loading of replays, as the other versions lack that feature. I uploaded THPS4 replay videos to my RUclips channel for the sake of comedy purposes rather than showing off my skills, but you get the picture.
It is looking a little bit different than the other background and goal objectives to complete the task of each requiring missions to unlock the secret level and secret characters too!
Never checked out this version of 4, so fun to watch! And I get that levels had to be simplified but sort of surprised they didn't include South Bank in London.
I quite like the London on this version of the game due to it being nighttime and raining. I don't know, gives the level a little bit of flair compared to the somewhat bland generic clear skies sunny day version in the PS2 game
I like how when he first found out about the HORSE goals. He was like "this is implemented pretty well for single player." To the beginning of the 2nd stream "recycled and reused, worst formula for a goal ever."
Honestly, if you view this game as essentially a handheld THPS4 (despite it being on PS1) it isn't bad. I've emulated it on PSP (and 100%ed it) and it works better when you don't mind the graphical/gameplay limitations and the sheer amount of goals makes it great to play on long journeys. It feels like more of a skating game whereas the PS2 version has some obvious platformer elements. Sewers is a cool level that I wish was more appreciated, I made it as a created park for 1+2 a while back. I prefer the PS1 layout of Shipyard, which has this massive warehouse section that is not in the PS2 version. Setting Kona at night was an inspired choice, and looks beautiful - surprising given the graphical limitations of this game.
I'd give any money for a "re-re-release" of the PS1 port of THPS4, with some of the more wonky revert / triple flip / etc commands cleaned up and maybe some minor graphical polishing
Dude, you've gotta give RUclips some more love! We feel gorgotten! 😭😭😭 Also, what's up with THPS 3+4? Did it get thrown out after VV was absorbed by Blizzard? Another followup, what about the 12(I think) platform exclusive maps between 3+4? THPS3: Cruise Ship(6G), Downhill(5G), Paris(GBC), The Zone(GBA), The Oil Rig(Xbox). I don't think we need the Warehouse, Burnside, or Roswell(All 6G) in this one for obvious reasons, but another good set to mention. THPS4: Carnival(6G), Chicago(6G), The Sewers(5G), Little Big World(5G). I honestly wouldn't be mad if they got put into a DLC. Most the secret characters would need licenses to use, but I will demand the "Demoness" to return with 3+4 as that was my favorite character in 3.
Back when proskater 3 came out I bought both versions, I did the samething for thps4. And then I bought the gba versions too.... and gbc... Like a year later I can't recall which glitch clan I was in at that time but I tried posting all the different versions of the games glitches. I was the only 1 in any of the glitch clans that did this. No it wasn't bgoat, I was never in bgoat. I did that all the way up to like the downhill games on ds & wii.
I played this version of the game for the first time this year but it was on a emulator on an android phone lol still was pretty fun I definitely wasn’t going to 100 percent it tho 💀
i played thps4 on ps2 at a friends place and i found it cheap on ps1 i thought wow i can play it on ps1? and oh boy this was a "we got thps4 at home" kinda feel hahahah but i was a kid i didnt know better
PS1 THPS3 and THPS4 do actually have camera controls on the right stick. It was in the manual in the Controls section. There's also one of those in-game Tip hints that's like 'Use R3 for Freelook' or something like that. R3 itself locks/unlocks the camera. Only took me 20 years of knowing these versions to notice there were actual camera controls 🤣
Tbh this is way better than the PS2 version. Very simple and precise especially when the music is on ohhh wee memories unlike the PS2 version half of the goals just don't make sense at all and a lot of it is just confusing at times.
I'm one of the people who played this version of thps4 only. After watching the sewers nearly break a grown man i need to see if my memory card is recoverable so i can see if i beat all of this back in the day
Pro Skater 4 for xbox was the first Tony Hawk game i ever played, it’s so strange seeing the college level i spent so much time in as a child look almost completely foreign to me. It’s a little unnerving ngl.
I remember modding a friend's PS3 and downloading a THPS 4 ISO to test it, and yeah the modding process went all well but I got disappointed once I noticed that I downloaded this hot barf looking version of THPS 4 instead of the original ps2 version
I played THPS3 first on PS1, only played THPS4 after playing it on PS2, which basically ruined this version for me. Wish I would've played both of them on PS1 first.
I'm glad 😄 most everyone now recognizes that the PS1 was also nicknamed the PSX. I'm sure this is common gaming knowledge by now. There was ONLY one prototype actually called the PSX, but it was ONLY a prototype at a gaming convention LOOOONNG ago. Which is possibly why the PS1 got the PSX nickname.
I don't see the point to having a time limit for any goal that has to be done in one combo 🤔 and they really should have, at some point, tweaked the input so you can only intentionally lip trick like with the stall input (R1 + Grind) or you know Just Always Be Perfectly Perpendicular To The Coping 5Head BC It Just Works😩
I played this version when it came out because I didn't have a PS2 (or Gamecube or Xbox) until a few years later, and I didn't end up playing the "next gen" version of it until quite a bit later. Honestly, it's still some good Tony Hawk. It's definitely much more restricted by the hardware, but if it was good enough for the first two games, it was certainly good enough for this one. Still have a lot of nostalgia for it.
Welcome to my preffered TH4. I went to town and bought this for $70 and went to the pub. Spilt a couple of drops of beer while reading the manual. I liked the gravity and aura of the PS1 version over PS2. Liked it better that number 3.
If you do end up doing Project 8 for the PS2, be warned that if you max out your stats, some goals become impossible because you end up overshooting your jumps (and you can't lower your stats once applied)
Thanks for the advice, man. I will play it soon for the first time so I'm taking note !
the first few notes of every song, the wall in london, this video is incredible
IN LONDON!!
Shipyard Sal Flips were something.
Andy: retries the last goal
The first note of TNT: Now this looks like a job for me
srsly tho, the "ACDC jumpscare" bit got me good.
The Distillers's one is like a "rejected" button on something like Fame or Shame lol
I love how at 37:48 we can just see you go full QA mode.
Huh, I kinda like how the level layouts look for the PS1 version. Some of them look like they flow better than the PS2 versions. Whoever was in charge of simplifying them for the platform did a good job
They flow alright until ur line leads to a grind right into a wall that makes u bail
Those stairs that became a ramp was way better
I had no idea a PS1 version of this game existed. Thought it was some fan-made demake when I stumbled upon this video.
tony4 on the ps1 was legitimately my first videogame ever, i remember trying to grind round and around the small fountain thingy in college, good times
This version will always be special to me. Its the first THPS game I ever owned and for sure my most played PS1 game.
No wonder it was the most played, since it seems to take forever even if you're a seasoned THPS pro. 😀
Same
Why do I feel like alot of people's first Tony hawk experience was this one lol
Even since 2002, bam had been sectioned from his friends.
Its genuinely wild to see ya play through stuff like Sewers with this versions and seeing a different playstyle alongside different struggles to things compared to my own experience and playstyle (grind heavy vs flip/grab heavy). 🤝
That revert animation is ridiculous, so uncanny to stand up straight at the bottom of a qp smh
Thps 4 is peak skate games in my opinion, I grew up with 3 and 4 primarily. I played this version last year, it's super uncanny.
The way he collected the K at 17:56 synced with the horn section in his royalty free music so immaculately 😵
nice catch i never noticed that
I just bought this cause why not lol. Also have it on Ps2. This game is bad…everyone has the wrong special tricks. Bob doesn’t even have any of specials correctly not even 1Ft Smith.

If you're actually looking for a 16bit TNT cover, we did a full album of thps 1-4 tracks in chiptune called "Kickblips"! Full thing is on our channel.
37:50 QA moment

Look at his hand
"It's more like a nub I think" made me piss myself 😂 I had absolutely no idea there was a PSX version of THPS4!
Okay good, so I'm not going crazy about this game.
I did have a PS2 and this is the only version of THPS4 I've ever played :D Legendary game
Exactly
It is looking a little bit different than the other background and goal objectives to complete the task of each requiring missions to unlock the secret level and secret characters too!
What's the anime like background Start ? It sounds so familiar
Tapwave Zodiac emulator play-through when???
pepperoni tony!
Haha nice, never saw the PS1 version before
I'm sorry...but it's so fun watching how frustrated you get with this game 😂😂😂
Never checked out this version of 4, so fun to watch! And I get that levels had to be simplified but sort of surprised they didn't include South Bank in London.
I'm so happy to see you upload again
I remember being really confused as a kid when I saw THPS 3 for the PS2 in a video games store.
I quite like the London on this version of the game due to it being nighttime and raining. I don't know, gives the level a little bit of flair compared to the somewhat bland generic clear skies sunny day version in the PS2 game
Too poor to own a ps2 so I bought it for ps1 originally and beat it in one night. Good times.
I like how when he first found out about the HORSE goals. He was like "this is implemented pretty well for single player." To the beginning of the 2nd stream "recycled and reused, worst formula for a goal ever."

To get out of prison, you have to collect the five license plates scattered around the prison
Need to get to the other side of the bridge huh? Skitch my car and launch to deadly heights and land like it was nothing 😂
also, "Little Person" = the pint-sized slasher from Fallout, WTF!
I recognized the graphics from thps2 on ds.. it also had ban in a blue flower shirt. Its cool bam got a new shirt
Neat
YESSSS!! 🔥🔥🔥
Chad MamaSayMamaSaMamaMuska
Bro said there is some extreme wheelcharing going on here😂😂😂
I played this version of the game for the first time this year but it was on a emulator on an android phone lol still was pretty fun I definitely wasn’t going to 100 percent it tho 💀
I thought the name Vicarious Visions sounded familiar. They also made Crash N. Sane Trilogy. ^w^
I remember playing tf out of thps2 on my hacked psp in middle school then discovering this and getting mad lol
Love you Andy! Can’t wait to watch this over the span of the next couple days!
hello andy, can you tell me what music was playing in the background of your stream?
Yo. Not sure what music you're talking about but it's usually these two:
8 bit big band
Vector U
Bam wasn't a Pro at the time (or ever?) I guess
he was! He was a pro in THPS3 before this game's release
7:48:37 the one and only 😂
Andy is The Ultimate Gamer for THPS4 PSX
You need to put more things on your head
Love seeing you play these scuffed versions. The DS games are a lot like these, they almost feel like lost playstation versions of the new games
The shenanigans involving the wall in London is the highlight of this 8+ hour video lmao
It's very interesting to see the difference between the generations! Nonetheless, great video, Andy!
Ollie with no revert keeping your combo is kinda broken actually
i played thps4 on ps2 at a friends place and i found it cheap on ps1 i thought wow i can play it on ps1? and oh boy this was a "we got thps4 at home" kinda feel hahahah but i was a kid i didnt know better
2:25:40
Jeez I didn't know this existed and I've played every other thawk game to death
They should remake all of these games
Anyway good stream, been watching this gradually over the past two weeks while eating dinner
thanks dude
Best video to watch while I’m home sick from work for a week god bless

That’s nice to know actually, and am I crazy or can you only trick in and out of grinds not during?
I have the manual and it says the landing stat helps land big drops lol
Where can I download this?
The same place youy download any ps1 game
pleeeeaase play THPS 5....salty Andy is gold
Tbh this is way better than the PS2 version. Very simple and precise especially when the music is on ohhh wee memories unlike the PS2 version half of the goals just don't make sense at all and a lot of it is just confusing at times.

Can you not trick while grinding in this game? Doesn’t work for me.
That TNT note was hillarious! 🤣
The Wii/Ps2 version of Proving Ground is extremely scuffed.
Taken me a week but I've watched this whole play through. Loved this game. Thank you!
Holy! haha thanks dude
Pro Skater 4 for xbox was the first Tony Hawk game i ever played, it’s so strange seeing the college level i spent so much time in as a child look almost completely foreign to me. It’s a little unnerving ngl.
7:45:50 WTF happened to your base score
wow, i did not notice that
I remember modding a friend's PS3 and downloading a THPS 4 ISO to test it, and yeah the modding process went all well but I got disappointed once I noticed that I downloaded this hot barf looking version of THPS 4 instead of the original ps2 version
I played the crap outta this game on PS2 as a kid. never knew it was on PS1 too lmao
7:23 this katamari song is my favorite. never heard this cover before.
8 big big band
I didn't even know they made a ps1 version of this game
I played THPS3 first on PS1, only played THPS4 after playing it on PS2, which basically ruined this version for me. Wish I would've played both of them on PS1 first.

squeaky bushings
I'd love a compilation of TNT First Notes in the stream.
seen this crap and not a Dreamcast version was pathetic
in what world would this have got one when pro skater 3 also didnt? lol
let me manual in my manual game
I thought Chad was wearing bowling shoes not clown shoes... Although the Constant board squeak maybe it is
i know i’m beyond late to the party but honestly the completed challenge sound bite immediately followed by the first note in TNT sounds so legit lol
THPS 4 is best being played on ps2, GameCube or og xbox.
I played this version when it came out because I didn't have a PS2 (or Gamecube or Xbox) until a few years later, and I didn't end up playing the "next gen" version of it until quite a bit later. Got this on PS2 for my 10th birthday , endless hours skating around the zoo as jango fett....good times
Did they cut the zoo level from this release? I came for the elephant goal!
Had no idea this game was even on the PS1 😹
Thps4 but its the darksouls of skateing games
Welcome to my preffered TH4. I went to town and bought this for $70 and went to the pub. Spilt a couple of drops of beer while reading the manual. I liked the gravity and aura of the PS1 version over PS2. Liked it better that number 3.
$70 for PS1 THPS4 is criminal
This game is outdated, but it still looks fun
This and the og 2 will always be my favorite
