    Ross is an excellent narrator and can effortlessly explain what is going on whilst working, either when diving or top side. The fact he can weld and make a temporary fix look solid has got to make him worth his weight in gold. Another fantastic episode from team Emily yet again ! 👌👌👌

    I am 100% with Ross on trimming your rods down smaller. I tend to do mostly brazing but I hate having a large rod waving around, it's irritating. Also, TIG for a job like that takes longer, but you have so much control over the heat, and the ability to go back over and re-melt the old welds is a game-changer on jobs like that. Won't win any beauty awards, but it will hold!

    • @regularguy8592

      just use tig wire of the size and type you need its generally smaller diameter

    @regularguy8592 7 месяцев назад +5

    I don't know what psi your running in that pipe but it looks like to me schedule 10 stainless would be much better than that heavy schedule 40 black stuff. Also when you weld it use 316 filler rod instead of 304 and purge inside of the pipe with what ever welding gas your using I'm guessing argon. If you don't purge the pipe the salt water will eat through them welds from the inside out. It might also benefit you to look into what is called "the canned ham theory" which means you can tack a piece of metal to the inside of your pipe and you have to use a metal that has opposite ion charge than your pipe that will keep it from rusting. Canned hams are canned in a mild steel can in a brine solution. If you have ever opened a canned ham and looked inside the empty can that little tab of metal attached to the inside is what I am referring to. Welding ferrous steel to stainless or the opposite is just asking for failure electrolysis will setup between the two and rust each other out

The infrastructure around the mining is just as interesting to me as the mining itself and I love to see what kind of contraptions other people are using. Some of my favorite videos I’ve seen people do were ones from the dredge grave yard and I realize this is about you but without the show there’s no knowing what other people are doing.

    This is probably going to sound stupid but why not weld some pieces of cylinders to the bottom of the pontoons and some pieces of smaller diameter cylinders to the wheels?. This way, whenever you want to bring out the boat you just attach the wheels to the pontoons. Like legos.

    Since gold sits on the clay and in hard pack would using some kind of scraping implement expedite getting gold into the nozzle? Maybe the diver could bungee a small three prong gardener hand rake to extract the gold faster?

    Hey guys, just out of curiosity, do you keep any kind of a grid section for your plot and make a note of how much gold you source from each area, or do you cover so much ground in each session it makes it impractical? Is it just divers skill/intuition that dictates where they’ll suck the ground from or do you use any kind of historical data etc? Do you think eventually the divers job will be replaced by a robot and an operator above in the boat?
