ah,the real dubliners,i recall working with the dubliners ,in the state cinema in phibsboro.(nowGone) in aid of the herald boot fund.this was at a time when money was needed to buy shoes for the poor of dublin.how things have changed.what a group,to me ronnie drew was a star. also on the bill we had the singing nolans,you all know who they are,really good. regards Tony sadar.
I was attempting to determine how Ronnie Drew could have been a part of that joyful event! Then I realized Octopus eight arms. OK. They had reached the limit. I have never seen an Irishman drink a pint of Guinness like an Australian! Down the hatch. :)
Absolute magic, & a very Interesting tune, An Rogaire Dubh , which was adapted from an even older Irish Air, as is the way with a lot of Jigs & Reels it's simply older pieces having evolved and sped up considerably. O'Neills Dance Music of Ireland gave me that info in the introduction. So I played it slower ( & nowhere near as well as St Barney) and the tune I heard was Tibby Dunbar, a Ballad sang by Luke Kelly. Check it out Folks, it's 100% the same tune :^)
