Emmett was meaning to call Toby a moron when it comes to Deaf culture. Toby was doing a lot of things hearing people shouldn't do when talking to a D/deaf person (talking to Daphne instead of him, referring to Emmett in third person, ext.). Even though Toby didn't mean to come across as a moron, he somehow forgot that Emmett's a person, too, and that was very uneducated, if not moronic of him.
Goofy16girl787 but its lovely how he changes so much throughout the seasons to come to talk to other deaf people and learn how to sign and even have deaf friends. Toby is just such a good transforming character. i really love the writers who created him. The transformation is so amazing. 😄
You can't get upset with him for not know how to talk to deaf people. I mean in the first episode, it was new to them. They had to learn it. It takes time to learn a new language and the customs of that new community. Daphne and Emmett, it was their way of their every day life, not the Kennishes. They had to learn and they did. That should matter more than their starting point.
Adara J. the real actress playing her character is not fully deaf. the actress turned "hard of hearing" when she was 18.. therefore the actress (her name is Katie btw) can talk fine. but she has to add that voice in the character because the character Daphne was deaf at 3. and i think she speaks clearer now than in the first season so that the audience can understand her better
+Adara J. I'm pretty sure it's just her acting wasn't consistent. I understand you want to know how come "Daphne's" accent isn't as prominent as it was before, but really, there is supposed to be no difference. So, technically, as the viewer, you're just supposed to ignore the slip-up. The actress, Katie, just didn't keep the accent consistent.
@CallieMulan- You forgot the scene where Emmett and Daphne were at lunch talking about what she would've been like if she hadn't been switched. But I enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work!

She got deaf after she turned 18 so it didn't affect her speech. She just talks this way to put more effect on Daphne's character.
