The Teens Making Nursing Home Residents Feel Loved Through Makeovers

More than 75% of nursing home residents feel lonely. Glamour Gals is on a mission to end elder isolation through a little pampering.
Glamour Gals offers companionship and makeovers to senior home residents across the country. Rachel Doyle created the nonprofit 24 years ago after her grandmother passed away in an assisted living facility.
"I love the idea that her passions live on," Doyle said. "Though I couldn't give her the makeover I always wanted to give to her, I have the opportunity to meet so many other grandmothers and provide that moment for them."
Glamour Gals has since grown nationwide, with over 100 high school and college chapters and over 100,000 makeovers given to seniors.
"It makes the older people feel like they’re young again," said Lenore, a senior resident at The Chateau at Brooklyn Nursing Center, said. "It makes me think of my high school days. They were fun and exciting."
