  • In this video tutorial, we show how to body cast a female torso using Body Double Lifecasting Silicone. This mold was made using a model who was partially clothed, nude except for denim shorts.
Body Double Coverage Chart - www.smooth-on.com/page/body-d...
In order to allow the Body Double to release from the shorts which are worn by the topless model, we use Vaseline to seal the pores of the denim fabric. The Vaseline allows the silicone to release from the shorts easily.
Body Double Silicone is combined with Hyperfolic release additive to make a self-releasing silicone which captures extreme detail, down to the model's tattoos! A plaster bandage support shell is made, and then duoMatrix NEO polymer gypsum is cast into the final mold. The NEO is combined with bronze powder to create a casting with a real metal finish.

Is the release agent needed? In your body cast video from 9 years ago, you hadn't used one and it still turned out very well.

Yes, release agent is required to release the silicone from the skin.

I am curious and eager to try this. How much does a casting of this magnitude cost and how much time are we talking about? Several days is the guess, but just a guess.
Also can this silicone hold up to fairly high heat? Looking for a lightweight alternative that us easy to mold and play with...

    • @smoothon

The process took around 45 minutes in total. For a complete body mold the steps would be different. Out tech support team can help you determine the best way to strategize that project.

Would Shoe Polish also help bring out details on an aluminum filler cast? What color/brand do you recommend? :)

    • @smoothon

It would. Color is dependent on your own taste but we find that name brand shoe polish has a higher level of pigmentation in it than generic brands.

    • @smoothon

Making sure your model is relaxed is a key component. It may be helpful to mold a small area at a time.
