Mr. Brown Iced Coffee Review: Taste Test of 4 Flavors from my Asian Market

- If you've visited Asia or almost any Asian market since the '80s, you'll recognize the familiar, jovial face on "Mr. Brown" Iced Coffees. These chubby little cans come in seven flavors, four of which we'll try today. At 99 cents each, they're a bargain compared to similarly-sized iced coffees from Starbucks.
That being said, Mr. Brown coffees aren't necessarily considered to be "high quality" coffee. But that hasn't stopped them from becoming a household name throughout the Asian world.
During my research on the product, I read several articles from "coffee experts" either admitting in hushed tones that Mr. Brown was their guilty pleasure, or denouncing the flavor entirely. So I honestly came into this review with low expectations.
We taste-tested four flavors, including:
• Original Iced Coffee Flavor
• Blue Mountain Blend
• Cappuccino Flavor
• Macadamia Nut Flavor
What were the results? Check out the video to find out!

I just tried my first Mr. Browns Iced Coffee. I had the Iced Vanilla and it was delicious. Way better than Starbucks in price and taste
I think instead of adding ice, just cooling it in the fridge would give a stronger taste, melted ice water dilutes their taste.
Agreed, these are best served well chilled with no added ice.
I'm a bit of a coffee fan, as I prefer to grind my own beans, and even I think this coffee is remarkably decent. It's definitely a cut above, say, Folgers, and is quite drinkable even when not chilled. I love the smell. And it's nice and convenient to keep these in the fridge for when I want a quick coffee fix or want something that's not hot. Definitely recommend this.
I love Mr. Brown's coffee..I use to drink them all the time when I lived in Guam..I hope I can find them in my local Asian market! :)
MyBoobear27 I’m from Guam too!
"A little on the thin side" I believe Mr. Brown is meant to be chilled in the refrigerator and not diluted with ice. Other than that nit, great review!
Lmao I discovered this at this Asian store today and and my mom and I were like, "Coffee in a can? What the hell! Must try..!" and grabbed one can for nearly every flavor available there. So far my brother has tried the Macadamia and I've tried the vanilla flavor (which was delicious). I offered some to my mom, however by then she had already forgotten about it and made herself her own coffee.
Loved this video! I love seeing alternatives to the more (American) mainstream coffee options. I'll have to look for these at our asian markets!
At last, a coffee enthusiast channel.

Who came here from Game grumps when they said it tasted like an ashtray?
Yeah, no mention of cigarette flavor? dissapointed.
@@xLuky It's almost like being a famous youtuber still means you're just an average guy with a personal opinion that other people don't need to share. Gosh.
@@bitter-bit Okay Carol calm down, it was a joke. Christ.
Carolyn S. Yeah they didnt say it in a mean way, plus they didnt say dont buy it, they were just making fun of it
Yeah I bet they only drink Starbucks and they think that's how normal coffee tastes like xD Mr Brown is really good for a canned product
I have tasted all of them except the macadamia nut. I personally like the blue mountain blend and cappuccino, and I think you should have put in the fridge for a few hours to cool it instead of putting ice on it because it will dilute the taste and it will taste kinda bland but if you prefer that kind of taste you do you. Nice review btw
The Blue Mountain Blend is just a teensy bit smoother than the original. I like it when I'm in Toronto but at my home town I only get original. I like it so much. All of it.
Mr. Brown is awesome. I love the blue mountain version especially. I probably like it even more than Suntory Boss coffee.
KingFahtah I just found this in an Asian convenience store I lived nearby today, I recognized the same iced coffee from Mr.brown introduced into the show, an anime called Karakai jouzu no Takagi San or Skilled Teaser, and I wanted to give it a try but I'm not really a coffee fan. In fact the only coffees I have tasted are from mc Donald's mocha frappe or Carmel frappeand starbuck's green tea frappitino, mainly tons of sweetness and mocha flavor to it. I always wanted to try black coffee just for a taste test, but when she mentioned it, it gives me the feel that the iced coffee is just bland, just plain coffee, which I'm not really reckoning. I was wondering out of the 4 which one should I try?
I’m not sure mr brown would be to your liking by the sound of it but probably just try the regular iced coffee and see what you think. They are usually really cheap so if you don’t like it no big loss. I’m interested in checking out that anime now.
KingFahtah Oh okay! Thanks for the reply though.!
I LOVE Mr Brown Coffee. My local shop sells it for 0.79 cents. Stocked up with 20 cans. My personal faves are Macadamia and Blue Mountain,
+Miguel Albarracin - YES! Another Mr Brown Fan! These things are the best when it's super-hot outside. Really hits the spot. I haven't had too many since the freeze set-in, but I'll be stocking up again come summer. 79 cents is a really good deal! The cheapest I could find around here was 99 cents. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching!
MokaBees I pay $.99 a can for Mr. Brown iced coffee and the Macadamia nut iced coffee at a oriental market near Michigan State University. Try the UCC Hawaiian Kona blend iced coffee if you can find it.
My local Asian grocery had this on sale for about 70 cents a can, so I got the 5 flavors they had. The four that you tried plus a chocolate. And to be honest, I couldn't really tell the difference between any of the five flavors. It all tasted like a mildly sweet ice coffee. I enjoyed them all, just couldn't distinguish them from each other. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same about Mr. Brown. Good review and coffee.
You should go to the doctor
Thanks for the review, I am going to see if I can find the blue cans around. $99c for the regular ones at my Asian markets, however buying a case usually $85-90cents each.
Thanks Danny
Love the review! Where did you get your straws from?
+Chong Lor Thanks! I purchased these at my local supermarket, but I believe Amazon sells similar ones made by Kikkerland. Thanks for watching!
If you want a more consistent taste test when using ice, do one at a time instead of pouring all 4 over ice at once. Each one will be more diluted/ thin than the previous one due to ice melting while they sit and wait to be tasted. Of course the first one was thin. Look how much water was on top from melted ice before you stirred it in :)
Blue Mountain is a Jamaican coffee.
I can find only 3 of them. Had the blue mountain one from a gerocry store long ago, then if I even did see them since it wasn't many times otherwise just recently saw them again. So, a little while back tryed the cappuccino one out and have iced coffee in fridge as I type this but soon enough will have it. As for the other's that are made I dunno if only select places in the world get them or what the deal is as I don't see any other after 3 of them.(In stores) Cheer's!!!
+titsbeerbong420 - Yep there's even a couple more flavors on their website, but I've never seen them "in the wild", unfortunately. Thanks for watching!
***** you're welcome.
I grew up with these! Macadamia nut is my favorite but I can’t find it anywhere anymore!!!
First ran into Mr, Brown canned coffee during a layover in Taipei on my way to Manila in 2002, (it was in a vending machine). Finding it since then in the local Asian stores has been hit or miss, the only store I can find it at consistently is also the furthest away store,so I rarely go there.
Lmao I found this at the Asian store and I LOVE iced coffee so I just bought a vanilla one to try lol.
I love the can size it's not too much n not too little
I didn't taste it yet btw
Nice
I just found mine at Walmart and about to try mine today
Are these safe? Mine has a warning on it
Which one of these tastes like ashtray?
Did you get these online or an Asian market?
nygreenguy I got them at my local Asian grocery. (Which I definitely recommend since most of these flavors are sold for outrageous markups when you buy them online.) I have a few Asian markets near me, and they all carry the original Iced Coffee flavor at a minimum. The larger ones seem to carry more flavors. Hope this helps! :)
Good coffee love ❤️ it Mr Brown
The original is the best!
Dollar Tree stocks em in Canada, Blue Mountain Blend is amazing.
In Germany you find them in every single gas station since forever for some reason
$0.99 for each? Shoot me, in my country costs $2.00 roughly.
Does the macadamia nut flavour contain actual macadamia nut in the ingredients?
Jenna Zimmer Just the taste PROBABLY
If you're allergic i wouldn't even risk it. just drink the normal or vanilla or something
Oh god I freaking love vanilla
Me too I really want to recreate the flavour as I haven't seen them in the UK yet
I like the blue can the best
👍
Mr brown coffee legitimately tastes like canned sewage cigarette water
thats how they get ya.
this shit is fire
Hello grumps
I tried it for the first time this weekend. I thought they were very gross. They tasted like somebody poured sugar on some burnt plastic.
You're using the wrong map! Taiwan is not part of China!😮
Nooooooo!!! Don’t taste it!!!
MR Browns coffee tastes like cigarette ashes and tar no matter what "flavor" you get lmao the after taste is deadly lmfao
