- Bodycam footage shows Ohio police responding to a false threat and handcuffing RUclipsr Darren "IShowSpeed" Watkins on August 8. An officer told Watkins that someone called 911 using his name and told police that he was going to hurt himself and his family. Officers let Watkins go after determining the threat to be false.

they can but they wont do it
With all our technology today, I can't believe the amount of people who don't understand it, or better, don't have access to it.
why did they even bother censoring him
I just hate when people prank call 911
His friend explaining "you can watch his stream of everything that has happened in the past few hours, he is a popular streamer" etc.. really calmed a few of those cops down a bit. I'm glad it all turned out okay.
I am pretty sure the cops couldn't give 2 frigs if he is a popular streamer.
@@powerboon2k I am pretty sure they're putting emphasis on the fact that everything of his actions over the last few hours were on recording. Ion know whatchu you on about

Big flex
I'm still confused why they didn't put them both in cuffs. They literally treated them differently
Honestly, for the guy Speed makes himself out to be, he handled this situation very smartly. Good on him, and thank God nobody was hurt. It’s sad that these trolls still exist.
Intelligently, smartly isn't a word. Or for that matter, handled it very smart. Smart is the equivalent of smartly. But no smartly is not a wordsy.
Language is defined by use, mr smartsly
It’s a character he plays online. He’s obviously not really like that.
Commenters here must be great at social gatherings...
He is worse than the troll who did this, if it wasn’t just him for publicity
It’s about time police hear about swattings aswell. There must have been hundreds over the years.
It seems like every time there is a swatting and the person is trying to explain, no one in the police has ever heard of the concept.
But these streamers / youtubers should also learn to say: "one of you guys pull up your phone and Google me". I understand it’s very stressfull in the moment but they should reherse that line over and over tbh.
Like the officer said, someone might be killed during this.
When someone calls the police there is no PHONE NUMBER? Come on...
the weirdest Thing is they censored Speeds face but not his step dads and other people that speed keeps private.
Everyone with blurred faces in this vid are minors, who are legally required to have their faces blurred in public release footage like this. The other individuals (like his parents) were old enough to not have this happen.
They blurred it because they're minors. They legally have to do that or they could get sued or fired.
find it weird cuz the thumbnail literally shows his face..
@@inceldetector6148 common sense
@@inceldetector6148 it was posted by a third party, civilians don't have to abide by the rules the law does, the law must censor minors faces, civs don't.
Major respect to speed and his camera man for how they handled this. The police need to be briefed on these situations.
They were but theres only so much information they get and that depends on what the caller says what the dispatcher asks and relays to the officers

The force needs to be taught about these situations they always seem clueless
This type stuff is fairly new to police departments. Things change so fast in the world. New crimes are created before police departments have a chance to label them a crime.
@@booboo1343 False police reports aren’t new wtf
They handled it well, it would be very unwise for them to let someone go as soon as the word “swatting” is brought up. An investigation still needs to be conducted
They have a protocol they have to follow for safety reasons. It's not ideal to handcuff the person who is being victimized in this situation, but you have to remember, these people are walking into a situation almost completely blind. They don't know him from Adam. For all they know, there could be a very legitimate danger there.
lol yes please tell them how to do their jobs
Why is he still in handcuffs after they understand what is happening???
Ahh man, this broke my heart this must of proper shook speed up 😢
Swatting someone should end with the CALLER being prosecuted
They obviously can't trace them back bro
@@louis-etiennebelangergagno5514 I bet if they tried, they could have an idea where the call came from. It's 2022, we all on camera 24/7
@@glazedguava7984 I'm saying try to trace and do some basic investigation
I can’t see a successful way to stop or punish swatters. You can use a public phone or a burner phone to make a call and dip. The 911 dispatchers have to accept all calls.
@@Dlo_BestLife they use a public phone. How inept do you think investigators are that you can punch a whole in their operation that easily lmao
