Cthulhu is in your heart. And that fluffer nutter sandwich. Also now that I'm done driving. Part of call of cthulhu is buying into the theme. Which is cosmic horror, inevitability, and the fragility of man. Complaining that it isn't Heroic or you can't win is like asking who is the spell caster in runequest or why shouldn't we trust the company in alien, they are directly not engaging with the theme of the game. Which is on them or the expectations they were provided
This game has always interested me. I like the idea of going at things in other ways aside from “guns blazing”. This has made me more intrigued to give it a go!
First off, hope you continue to get better, second I have not run CoC, but games adjacent to it; Pulp and Delta Green. Players know what they are getting into in these games and realize what is at stake. Some players enjoy exploring the "madness" aspect of their PCs as they come to terms with not only the unexplained but the dubious actions of their own "Government" and sometimes they are just willing to jump headlong into the Crawling Chaos.
I know im late here but i agree that you shouldn't discourage people from trying games theu are interested in just because you didn't enjoy it. I like games like CoC that arent always so black n white. But i also like games where im the hero. Just different mind sets is all. Well said sir.
:56your right ear 13:29 on your chest 19:17your left corner of screen I still want to play CoC I will not support WotC or the new edition of D&D. I have enough books and stuff to continue playing so hey I’m good. I prefer 3.5 anyway. Hope you get better soon. That stuff sucks.😊
I think the heroism lies in the fact that the game is so lethal and the characters are so doomed - and yet they try (in theory) to stop the end of the world anyway.
@@gameon_ct good on you to follow the guidelines. RUclips is doing more harm than good by censoring creators like that but that’s another conversation all together. I love your videos keep it up!
It's because most of the people running Call of Cthulhu games SUUUUUUUCK at storytelling. When you spend 6 hours playing a session and the only thing you accomplished was talking to some fishermen, shaking down a couple cultists, and then a single random ghoul wipes out most of your group - it becomes not worth the time to play. A lot of the "death from stupidity" is because the players get bored; I'd probably start blowing things up or setting things on fire to make the session more interesting, too! 💣🧨🔥 I actually had several different types of games, including D&D, end because all the players were bored so we fought and killed each other - instant game over! LOL
What is more heroic and valiant than facing insurmountable odds yet carrying on regardless. The guy you're replying to sounds like a total numpty Edited to add - 40k sucks, come at me CUJO! :D
I don't know of this person meant to sound as "gate keepy" as I interpreted but I wanted to really explain why some like the slow burn, insurmountable odds kind of games!

Pulp is so much fun!
0:53 behind your right ear, middle of the screen on the left hand side.

Love your response!
RUclips not talking about Covid is a massive blunder.
Yeah and you can get demonitized for bringing it up :/

was at about 50 seconds to the left of the screen. I think CoC is fun, I think DnD is fun. Play whatever you like

If you're still supporting WotC, you have no self respect. Btw, they said, "It's not a new edition". Lol.
Fair enough!
CoC is a roleplaying game. D&D is a completely different thing. The two things don't even compare.
They're both played by humans! Though sometimes I think you're an alien 👽
