Why yes that is! And they still make 'em. I don't indulge in "pipe" smoke so my belt buckle carries my zippo now. I encourage you to purchase yourself or a loved one, one.
They recently did a live script reading of dazed and confused to benefit Latino's voting in Texas. The entire main cast was there except for Shawn Andrews (Jensen Ackles of Supernatural did his part), Millia Jovovich, Nicky Katt (who canceled) and Ben Afflect (who canceled at the last min and was replaced by Ashton Kutcher who did an amazing job). Adam Goldberg got so much into character, he broke the mic on his head set lol. Rory Cochrane went full on method actor and was smoking pot the entire time. he even forgot what he was doing at one point lol. Jason London still has the belt buckle. Richard Linkleter gave it to him (he was also there. the script was narrated by Jason Reitman while everyone else did their characters).
I was a teenager in the 1970's , a very cool time. Great music, girls without tats, no gangs at high school, still respected our parents. I rode motorcycles, but some of my friends had muscle cars and we'd all go to the burger stand, hang out, look at the engines just like this scene. Very cool times.

@@louiswaze4603 Yeah, the world has changed. I lived in a rural small town where everyone had guns, some for self defense, most for hunting. No one ever thought about bringing one to school. The worse we had was the occasional fist fight. While weed was everywhere, it was pretty weak compared to today's and smoking with your friends would actually take some time and was kind of a ritual. I'm glad we didn't have cell phones or gaming platforms. During summer we spent our time outside, hiking, rafting, riding dirt bikes. We all had chores to do, so we'd be up at the crack of dawn, work until noon and then rest of the day and evening was ours. Good times. Try outdoor activities, get a cool hobby. 45 years from now I hope you can look back and reminisce with good memories. Take care and good luck.

So much wisdom in this scene and goofy jokes as a view into how some folks are but love the party at the moon tower scenes because it’s such a part of small town history and I love history stories.
Best years of my life those 70s ❤️❤️❤️
Alright alright alright!!!! Without a doubt, this is Matthew McConaughey's best role ever. YAH bless!!!
The belt buckle one hitter will always be the best in this scene
Lol,I still have a belt buckle bowl that I bought in 1975...probably worth a bit now
Quentin Tarantino offered Jason London $200,000 for that buckle but London declined.
What scene was that?
@@Jgeneraledger23 in front of the pool hall, Pink takes a hit from his belt buckle pipe. Mitch is next to him.
This dude actually gives some good advice.
I always watched this movie when I am high to enjoy the most out of it.
These generation do not appreciate this masterpiece
Cult classic! To see all these celebrities at the time is amazing! Also this was shot in Austin TX!
0:59 he was actually high when he said that line “watch the leather man” good stuff
He had to be
the stoner laugh was too spot on to be fake😂
2:06 “alright, alright alright!”
1:55 dude is that a belt buckle pipe?!!!!!
Why yes that is! And they still make 'em. I don't indulge in "pipe" smoke so my belt buckle carries my zippo now. I encourage you to purchase yourself or a loved one, one.
@@shawndamccormick278 hell yeah, I'mma get two. One for me and one for the wife ✌️
shawnda mccormick where can I find one of those belt buckle pipes?? Been searching for one and can’t find one :/
@@geminidreamatl26 is that filmed?!?
Sounds hella good
😂 say man you got a joint?..... that's my line
The music really did this movie justice!
Amazing soundtrack. Top 5 alltime for sure.
Austin in the early 70's. Those were the best days ever!
I was a teenager in the 1970's , a very cool time. Great music, girls without tats, no gangs at high school, still respected our parents. I rode motorcycles, but some of my friends had muscle cars and we'd all go to the burger stand, hang out, look at the engines just like this scene. Very cool times.
I’m jealous man I’m 18 and in the uk and all our culture exists of at the minute is going out weekly taking ecstasy or coke and raving until crazy hours, watching movies like this were they would actually do fun things and everyone looking more chilled out makes me crazy jealous of the fun people would get up to
@@louiswaze4603 Yeah, the world has changed. Take care and good luck.
weirdshibainu thank you for sharing your experience with me as much as I wish I could have also experienced it. No point ever complaining in life I could have it way worse so it’d be arrogant not to appreciate the time I’ve spent but I would be a liar if I said everything you listed sounds like my teenage years dream
@@louiswaze4603 Best of luck Louis. Enjoy your youth. It goes faster than you can imagine.
weirdshibainu I will thanks and I wish the same to you
Man that last part reminds me of going to Hampton Beach in my friend's 70 something Impala back in the early 80's. This movie rings pretty true to the times.
I'm glad my child hood went a little like this.
“You shouldn’t still be mad because I got all this and you didn’t “ great quote to tell the haters.
He actually says "All District " they were HS football teammates
I used to live right by that “moon tower” and party at that park in Travis Heights right by where Stevie Ray Vaughn lived. Dang I miss me some Texas :/
Where do you live now? I love Austin. I try to go there once a year. Eat some barbecue and see family.
I’m Ukrainian. I born in 1995. I never live back those years. But for some reason I miss those times.
They nailed every character in this movie as if they were in my graduating class. It's friggin uncanny.
And, the music is the soundtrack of my highschool years.
And, there was that 20 something banging the freshman girl.
Eat crow. liar
You just know when he’s describing the car that he could really do that. McConaughey knew this character long before the film ever existed. He owns that role.
I've been in love, ever since those pink jeans and sweet swagger.
Asking someone if they got a ride, while they’re sitting in the drivers seat of their own car.
The ford fiesta motor often exploded...1988 to 1993. 92 was worse, often tossed into A CORN FIELD during NIU tornado.
Scared my nephew with this told him the seniors would paddle him when he went to high school . He was getting ready to go to high school
Such a legend.. He's just cut different
This was my high school experience.

Being honest my high school life quite resembled this. Party party . L-i-v-i-n.💚💚
This movie is a documentary of my youth
02:06 min - The most iconic MMC moment in history.
I did a lot of partying while in jr high school during the early 1980s. There was still a lot of the "generation jones" age group ( mid 20s) hanging around. This culture was still familiar to us early genX in the early 80s.
LIVIN just keep livin
"You gotta keep living, L I V I N"
Listening to Matthew’s book and I just had to watch this scene he talked about. Incredible!!!
