Unbelievable last April ( 2022) for my mom’s funeral mass the florist was supposed to have the flowers delivered prior to the funeral service. The floral delivery came in the middle of the service. Also, quite a few years ago, I attended a wedding in the hotel forgot about the reservation for the hall they had to set up it and we all had to wait outside for about 45 minutes to an hour.

@margaretakins6829 The judge brought up that fact and concluded that it had to be prior to the defendant's video because she could clearly see his people bringing in the decorations to set up. That video was to prove the guests were already there waiting in the lobby when his crew showed up, and it proved that. Because the defendant was trying to say no guest were waiting when they arrived.

@margaretakins6829 I understand that. I'm focusing on his use of the word "little." He said they were a little late. With a traffic jam that long, anyone would be extremely late. He's trying to downplay just how late they arrived to set up. He was very late in relation to the time they agreed upon he would start setting up. If I lost that much needed time to set up, I'm not going to think small of it from a business standpoint.

A "little late"??? The contract was for a 3pm arrival... how is arriving 3 plus hours late considered a "little late"??? She paid him over 3 grand... she got back 1... I understand and agree that there was value for his services... they did forget to bring the bowls, not a huge deal, but still... the sheer panic and stress for 3 plus hours, wondering where the heck they were, if they were even coming (no mention of a courtesy call to let her know what was going on)... Right? When the plaintiff said at the end "It was all about her!" that kind of summed it up. Maybe that party was a one-time thing for the plaintiff's daughter, but I doubt it. So many parents go to great lengths to make their child feel like the world revolves around them, then they wonder why their children grow up greedy, entitled, and immature. These days grown women wear tiaras and sashes in public on their birthday, like they're little girls!
We have entire generations of entitled people now. They get angry when their parents buy them a new car and it's not the one they wanted, or when their parents "cut them off" financially in their 30's.
Many of them are impatient for their parents to "die already" so they can have all of their stuff! There are blogs & comment sections full of that, and they feel totally justified! It's disturbing.

So its easy to see what went down here - the defendant wasn't willing to give anything except a partial 'credit' . And the family wanted a FULL REFUND (not credit). I don't think its reasonable to give a full refund - they had the party with the decoaration - albeit some stuff was setup differently. If you still have the party with decorations then the guy really shouldn't owe you a COMPLETE refund. That being said If I was him I would have offered a choice of a specific amount of cash back - or a higher amount of credit and leave it up to them. Perhaps the family may have been willing to take less than full back in cash - and the defendant and them just could'nt agree on the final numbers - and so they filed in court. I get the feeling alot of the cases that end up on tv are something like this - where they just couldn't hammer out an exact number both sides consider are fair. (especially when both sides are pretty even keeled when they come to court like this case was. Either way - i hope no one who sees this show ever has something like this happen to them.

Sweet sixteen parties are for both genders but the male version is not done often. It’s like a quinceañera there is a male version but it’s not done often. I think the reason the Judged asked if the defendant had a daughter was to help the man relate to the situation a little bit better.

A thousand dollars was a fair judgement. But, I will never understand why people would spend over three thousand dollars on a teenager's birthday party. These are usually the same types of people that will complain, they don't have enough money to pay their bills. This party wasn't for their daughter. This party was for the parents to show off. SMH
