      Not only that, and please go ahead and double check me on this, the data they have is pretty much from British patients voluntarily answering questions when they visit their General Practitioner (Primary care doctor), and it's more like they asked a bunch of people in 2005 "Do you take fish oil?", then every few years asked them the same question.

      For those who are curious about the mechanism at play here: Low potassium (Hypokalemia) impairs the polarization of cardiac tissue which increases the risk of PACs (premature atrial complexes). This occurs even when potassium levels are sub-clinical and considered "low-normal" in blood tests. Too many PACs are a known trigger for afib so if you can reduce or prevent the PACs, you can reduce the chance of afib events.

      The "study" did not take into account any of this. Even the use of "fish oil" was self-reported. It's about as weak a foundation as you can get.
      To get a reliable result, you'd need to do double blind study and control, in a verifiable and repeatable way, for known confounding variables like potassium and preexisting hearts disease.
      I wouldn't even call this report science.

    As a fellow health RUclipsr, I appreciate the insights shared in this video by Rhonda Patrick regarding the potential risks of fish oil supplements. It's crucial to approach such topics with a nuanced understanding, especially given the conflicting research surrounding omega-3 fatty acids.
    One important aspect to consider is the type of omega-3s being consumed. EPA and DHA, the primary components found in fish oil, have been shown to have various cardiovascular benefits, including anti-inflammatory properties. However, the source of these omega-3s-whether from fish oil supplements or whole food sources like fatty fish-can significantly impact their effects on heart health.
    Additionally, it's worth noting that individual responses to supplements can vary widely based on genetics, existing health conditions, and lifestyle factors. For instance, individuals with pre-existing cardiovascular issues may react differently to fish oil than those without such conditions.
    Moreover, while the study mentioned in the video raises valid concerns, it's essential to look at the broader body of evidence. Many studies have indicated that omega-3 supplementation can lower triglyceride levels and may even reduce the risk of certain heart conditions when taken appropriately.
    In conclusion, while it's wise to be cautious about supplement use, especially in light of new research, I believe that fish oil can still play a beneficial role in a balanced diet for many individuals. As always, consulting with a healthcare professional before making any significant changes to supplement intake is advisable. Thank you, Rhonda, for shedding light on this important topic!

    I’m 35 and have had Afib since I was 12. I’m one of the only documented cases of its kind in the US. I can 100% confirm that fish oil supplementation increases Afib episodes significantly. The last thing you want as a someone with a heart condition is to voluntarily be inducing a potentially fatal arrhythmia. People with Afib should not be supplementing fish oil. More importantly, we need to figure out why this happens - it could imply something negative about the process or quality of the supplements, or it could also reveal something about the arrhythmia trigger. Eating large quantities of fish doesn’t have the same effect

This goes hand in hand with all the other mainstream medical attempts to fear monger against everything from Vit. I know 100% for sure fish oil supplements cause me to have ectopic beats...I never had afib and don't have afib but when I take 4 900mg capsules per day my heart skips beats and when I cut that down to 1 capsule per day it goes away within a week...I've tried this over and over again with the same results every time...I don't care what any study says I proved it personally and that's better than any study out there.

    I get terrible insomnia from omega 3 supplements, doesn't matter what time of day I take them. It takes a few days after stopping to get restful sleep again. Anyone else experience this? And if so, anyone know a workaround?

      Do you take other supplements, or medication? For 7 months, I have been trying to find the cause of my sleep problems (I wake up after 4-5 hours every night). I have been taking fish oil (in the morning) and other supplements. I have tried eliminating them one by one, but with no luck.

    Why not just take flax seed and not worry about any fish oil risks?

    • @stevenrobertson4190
      @stevenrobertson4190 День назад

      Flax seed, chia seed, walnuts etc do not convert well to active Omega 3s in the body is what I have read so very little is absorbed.

    • @Harperangel59
      @Harperangel59 День назад +3

      That form like flax seed is in the form of ALA omega 3, this needs to be converted to epa and dha in the body. Fish oil is already is the form of epa and dha, it appears that ala converts very little to dha and epa, so I wouldn’t be relient on it for that reason. Still healthful foods that should still be included in your diet!

    • @LifeIsThePrayer
      @LifeIsThePrayer День назад +3

      Flax seed contains only ALA which is one of the 3 fatty acids in omega 3. The other two are EPA and DHA.
      The body can make EPA and DHA out of ALA but the conversion rate is very low.
      And it gives your body more work to do.
      If you’re looking for a vegan source you can find omega 3 oil capsules from algae.
      Algae is the reason fish are high in omega 3 in the first place.
      Small fish eat algae and then bigger fish eat the small fish transferring that omega 3

    Probably best to wtay away anything looking like a capsul or a pill. i am sure the membrane of the capsul is not great for you

    Is getting omega-3 from chia and flax reasonable?

    • @belebele1982
      @belebele1982 День назад

      Chia seeds and flaxseed : How many time do we need to be told those are ALA/LA and have to be converted by the body to epa/dha It depends on how good your body is at converting. Keep eating chia and flax as they are great source of Ca, mg, fiber, D and protein - I’m sure you have read the label.
