Ive been wanting to do 2AAT for a couple of years but all the tutorials seemed intimidating. I search to see if you had a video and was happy to see it, you explain things so well, I feel confident that I can do this. Thank you.
Oh my word. Thank you for the instruction on how to separate into two cakes! I could not figure out how to accomplish this! Also, your instructions are so clear and precise for this technique! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I’m excited for this class too. Once I finish learning my basics on magic loop. I want to try my 2nd sock on 2 circular needles. Love every video and pod cast.
I use yarn cozies to cover the cakes as I am knitting/crocheting. It keeps them neat and in place. You can make them, but I use old socks as the cozies.
Hi Denise the two socks at a time class was awesome thank you so much I'm going to try it, look very easy I want you to know you can look up knitting bloom she has a short row heel very easy
Hi Denise, love RUclips video’s and learning zo much. My first pair of TAAT socks was with a video from Kate Atherley on Craftsy. She does a heel flap and gusset, for anyone who is interested.
Thank you so much! I had gotton stuck after starting taat on 2 circs. having used a different teaching video , and made a mistake in knitting sequence! I tried to backtrack and figure it out, but then found your video! Whew! The way you teach this makes easy order out of it all! Thank you so much! 😅❤️ Now I can move on and finish my project!
Thank you Denise for this awesome tutorial,. This is a great and awesome job,. It sure help me to understand how to follow instructions.. your and awesome teacher... 🥰❤️😁😊🙌💕☺️. Happy Knitting... Will give it a try... I need to learn a 2- at a time sock,. Since I get a second sock syndrome..🫣😬🤦😖😟
Thank you so much Denise! I can't wait to start a second pair - btw, my first pair were too small for me so I gave them to my 82 yr old mom. Love the magic loop - two at a time method, you make it look so easy!
I knit my socks using your twin and triple stitches. I’m not sure but I think it’s called shadow wrap heels. Would that method work 2 at a time? As always, a great video. Thank you Denise.
This is how I knit mine two at a time also using magic loop. Great video, especially for a beginner trying this method. I figured out how to do fish lips kiss heel two at a time also. The key, keep stitches tight, it's the tension. And you must pay attention to the zipping back and forth across the heel row. Takes one or two tries but once you've grasped it, it works really well. Didn't know the pattern had instructions for two at a time, had to learn by trial and error on my own. Something about that pattern on paper is so confusing to me, probably because I'm a visual learner. Re- writing it also helped me figure it out. But, it's a great heel for two at a time sock knitting. I must say, I feel like I'm cheating on my 9 inch circulars by knitting two at a time now, omg😅😅😅😅 like I've abandoned the poor babes😅😅😅
I do two at a time and when i get to the heel flap I don't separate socks but I do the one at a time then when back to knitting in round back to using magic loop like normal.
I'm so glad you know how to do that! I've just had 3 tutorials recommended to me and watched all of them. I can't wait to try it!!! This is why I love the knitting community and my amazing viewers!!!
Great video! I do sometimes knit my socks TAAT using magic loop- that bag is brilliant though, or any way to flip that 2 cakes of yarn so quickly back and forth to avoid tangles. A sewist I am not but might have to make one of these:) Also, at this point I separate for Heel flap and gusset but looking forward to any tips to streamline that process
Hi Denise. You really do have your finger on the pulse. I've started magic loop taat and so far so good. Knittinghousesquare has 4 tutorials on magic loop taat heel flap and gusset. Seems very clear but not quite at the heel flap yet. Think taat is a keeper for me. The cast on was like an extreme sport but all is well. X
There are a lot of video's whereby people are doing two at a time, Magic Loop. I've seen several myself. Most do everything on ML, ribbing and heels. But it's just not as well known. Look around - you'll find several. Just FYI.
Hi Wendy, Thank you so much but have to admit, I stand corrected!!! I've had 3 viewers suggest really amazing video tutorials for knitting the heel flap and gusset TAAT. I will link them in the description box!! There is always something new to learn.
Earthtonesgirl Podcast thanks for the links. Still though, I would have never gotten past the cuffs if I had to stuff that yarn ball between the needle each row. I would have ripped them out and never tried again!
Thank you again for these wonderful videos Denise! Do you know when you’ll be releasing part two of this video? I got very confused trying to rearrange my stitches for the toes when working 2aat in magic loop!
Following up on this question. Any update on availability of the second part? I really appreciate your teaching speed and video approach so would greatly appreciate the heel tutorial for two at a time!!

I love the exactness of your teaching - apologies are not necessary :) I'm not so neat as you, but your accuracy and the amazing details you give help me so much! I've been knitting socks for 20 years, but I might actually try 2 at a time now - my go to is dpns. Time for circular needle shopping! (and I'll have to get a sewing machine - the old one died - because that bag is perfect!)
Would it work to do sock cuffs TAAT if you knit K1, P2, K1 pattern? That way you would always begin and end with the same type of stitch, and your yarn would be in the right place for the second sock?
Hi Hilary, yes, it would work. You can do any combination of stitches or stitch pattern that you like. It should have no effect on the ability to knit socks TAAT.
Hi Denise!! Im so excited to do my 2nd pair of socks - this time with 2 at a time!! My question is, how long should my circular needles be? Like the cord part? Or what would you recommrnd?
I usually recommend 24 inch needles. That length works well for me. Some people use 16 inch. You might want to experiment though to find the length that’s comfortable for you.
First off, I absolutely love your videos! Very detailed and great instruction. I have adopted your twin stitch heel and I always use it on toe-up socks, (but I DO like to knit a gusset now and then). I do have a question on these 2 aatime.. Do I have to work the heels separately as is done on cuff down socks? I learned the 2AAT method for that from Antje Gillingham's book. It looks to me that with your twin stitch heel I might be able to do them at the same time, but I am afraid of getting all balled up after doing all the hard work to get to the heel. Can you help? By the way, I am as OCD as you are about my knitting. We are sisters-in-the-yarn.
Hello sister-in-the-yarn! Yes you can knit the shadow wrap heel two at a time and here is the link. ruclips.net/video/ZE21Oq_vIfg/видео.htmlsi=pf2Ef-hYV1SBnyVV I hope you find it helpful!!
Great videos, Denise! Does laddering show up more when knitting two-at-a-time socks? Is it still possible to push the cable in front of needle to avoid this? I am going to knit my first two-at-a- times after watching tonight. You have such a lovely voice for teaching; I find it very calming when learning a new technique.
Hi Denise, you will probably think it’s a stupid question but can I follow your sock shorty pattern, knitting two at a time on magic loop? Is it possible? Thanks ever so much for your help. Love your videos
Hey Denise' Thank you for getting this tutorial done for us. I’m excited to give it a try. I do have a question...you taught us to slide the back cable under the needle to avoid ladders and it”s amazing but how do you do this for the second sock when doing taat?

Question here: What length circular needles do I need to do this? I'm currently knitting one at a time on 2 circulars that are 24" long. Do I need 30" long needles or can I use 24" circulars?
Thank you for the video. It has helped immensely to see your demonstration. I did find it difficult to see the demo using a dark yarn. The other issue I found and it isn't a criticism... just an observation based on my eyes... having a dark yarn AND dark nails made it difficult as the colours blended together. May I suggest in future if using dark yarn you keep nails natural or use a very light nail varnish? I use the OttLite lamp to ensure I can see my work... again due to eye issues. Otherwise, I'd just like to assure you that your Sock Knitting classes have proved most encouraging adding a new knitting skill to my knitting bag. Warm regards, D
