The only horse to win the ”Arc” and sire 2 ”Arc“ winners and his great grandson Alleged emulated his back to back victories.A testament to most important breeder of the 20th Century.
Thank you so much for creating and posting this terrific, two-part tribute to arguable the greatest thoroughbred of all time. A Japanese race-going friend mine, sadly no longer with us, had a great love for Ribot and collected everything written about him. I wish he were alive to see these images. Fantastico.

Thank you for posting this two-part tribute to the incomparable Ribot. He was an idol of my childhood and it's pleasing to see his mighty feats so well presented all these years later. And kudos for the stirringly apt music throughout.

We have just become owners of a filly descended from Tofenella who was the dam of Tenerani the sire of Ribot a wonderful filly family we can't wait to see how she turns out.
She has some beautiful pedigree. Hope she turns out well.

This horse was a complete and utter Superstar. This beast the legend that is Phar Lap the magnificent Sea bird the beast of burden Secretariat and the freakish horse not from this planet Frankel are the greatest horses I've seen. I cannot split them. Special mention to Mill Reef, Kingston Town, Tulloch, Dr Fager, Winx, Deep Impact, Orfevre, Bernbourgh, Nijinsky, Count Fleet, Citation, So You Think, Dancing Brave, Dubai Millennium, Superb Dancer, Black Caviar, Man o War and the mighty Arrogate.
Brigadier Gerard not worth a mention? Or sprinter Abernant?

I can't believe how clumsy and uncoordinated and sloppy jockey's were in those days. It had to affected the performance of the horse.
I so enjoyed this, especially with the bows to Verdi and Puccini, but darn it, I cannot find an English-language biography of Ribot. I would love it. He was such an interesting horse. Is it true that his temperament was good before he came to US?
I forgot to mention the machine that was Brigadier Gerard and the near black wonder mare Ruffian.

There's bound to be some left out i.e Man O War, Damascus, Whirlaway, and all the English TC winners (besides Nijinski who's rated 138) but's that's the best we have atm - and there's a case for any of them o be #1! Although I believe Frankel and Sea Bird are the greatest thoroughbreds the world has seen! XD
Chi ha fatto questa classifica è un'idiota, Tony Morris ha dimostrato dagli esami fotografici che il distacco con cui Sea Bird vinse l'Arc non era di 6 lunghezze ma di 41/2 mentre quello di Ribot nel suo secondo Arc era di 81/2. Quindi Ribot nettamente avanti a Sea Bird e anche a Frankel che non avendo mai corso oltre i 2000 metri e neppure a 4 anni non può stare davanti a Ribot che ha vinto l'Arc a 3 e a 4 anni oltre a rimanere imbattuto su tutte le distanza, dai 1000 ai 3000 metri.
Scusate il mio italiano. Si tratta di prestazioni, non è successo, e Frankels Juddmonte / Queen Anne sono classificati i migliori performance di sempre in un ippodromo. Dicono di mare Uccelli Arco era 3lb o 1 1/2 lunghezze superiori a Ribots. Penso che sia innegabile che Sea Bird e Frankel dove meglio 3 anni di Ribot, ma c'è un caso di dire Ribit come un bambino di 4 anni è stato pari o superiore a Frankel e Sea Bird. E 'tutto opinione, e forse sono tutti così grande come vicenda :)

The reason Nijinsky was only rated 138, was because Lester Piggot never extended him. He said if I win by a length I win. Timeform rates horses on the distance they win by. Shergar won his Derby by 10 lengths in a time of 2mins 44secs, the slowest Derby since the war, and was rated 140. Lammtara won the 95 Derby in record time of 2mins 32secs on the same going. He went on to win the King George 2mins 32secs, and the Prix du l'arc de Triumph in the same time, he never won any of them by more than 1 and a half lengths......he was given a Timeform rating of 130....
@@gordonhamilton727 That's true, maybe Nijinksky should be higher.. but the same can be said for Sea The Stars.. A lot of ratings are left to our imagination..
Btw, Lammtarra was rated 134 with Timeform and 130 with the International Classifications.

LA DEFINIZIONE CAVALLO DEL SECOLO NON È STATA INVENTATA DAGLI ITALIANI. L'UNICO CHE FORSE POTREBBE ESSERE PIÙ FORTE DI RIBOT TRA IL 1900 E IL 1999 È "THE BRIGADIER". RIBOT È SPECIALE. TI AMO 🐎

Kelso and Forego!!!! I survived my teenage years only because of Kelso. Secretariat was lucky he was retired because he didn't have to face the determined efforts of Forego.
