Love this, Falbrav was my favourite racehorse since I started following racing in the 1980s. Very unlucky not to have won the Irish Champion and Breeders Cup Turf in 2003. An all time great.

Many of the great sires came from this timeframe….1930 - 1960…..it was relatively easy back then to dominate a breed… all you needed was the cash and the knowledge of the bloodlines. In America, Belair Stud accomplished this by purchasing Sir Gallahad III and importing him to America. Calumet Farm accomplished the same with European import, Bull Dog. That’s why Belair Stud and Calumet were able to breed two triple crown winners back in the 1930s and 40s, several Derby winners and numerous other champions. Because they imported stallions and started their own bloodline. Not many racing stables can do that today, except for maybe Coolmore or Goldolphin, etc….

Ì was always dazzled by Nearco's feats as a sire, so any film of that wonderful racehorse is a thrill and delight for me. Many thanks.

We have just become owners of a filly descended from Tofenella who was the dam of Tenerani the sire of Ribot a wonderful filly family we can't wait to see how she turns out.

You may as well go back to Phalaris (GB, 1913)...... No mention of the mares, either...

Thank you so much for creating and posting this terrific, two-part tribute to arguable the greatest thoroughbred of all time. A Japanese race-going friend mine, sadly no longer with us, had a great love for Ribot and collected everything written about him. I wish he were alive to see these images. Fantastico.
