I can't believe I just watched this *whole* video !! 😄 I intended to just skip to the end to see it finished but it was *so* satisfying watching it all being smoothed to perfection that I couldn't bear to skip any of it 😀 That is *such* a lot of hard work and you guys deserve every penny of this great job 👏 👍
Really satisfying to watch. My garage floor is in similar shape as this one was. It's 63 years old, and has sunk down towards the back a couple inches. Anyone know approximately how much to redo? I have no clue. It's a two car and located in New England.
"HOW TO MAKE A CONCRETE CURB FOR FENCE" name of the video for the gloves. and thank you for taking the time to record your excellent work with great attention to detail once again Thank You and stay safe out there !
I've found that little steps like that one can be annoying if you're trying to roll a tool box in and out, for example. Was it necessary given the situation, or could it have been avoided by making a little ramp? Thanks in advance for answering. I enjoy all your videos👍
Many years ago, and even today in some parts of the US, deep footings weren't done or even required by codes for detached buildings. In cold areas, the whole thing would heave anyway if you're not going down several feet to get below the frost line.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete My son has a 1955 detached garage with no footing in the Antelope Valley. Someone also put in an addition in 2017 with no footing. A house flipper.
Hola, ¿En que marca de rodillera para hormigón me recomiendas ?, Soy de Perú , solicito de tu apoyo , desconozco las marcas en EEUU , me desenvuelvo en el rubro de construcción, gracias por responder.
Nice work ! I have never seen a footing in New York it would be like 36 inches underground but this was fun to watch . I laughed at the sink in the garage multi use I guess lol. The EPA laws there are nuts Me I would have pitched that garage into a rectangle drain in the middle then into the drain line for the sink. But that would depend on where that drain went to . That's another video lol
Finally, I've overcome most of my health issues where I can at least enjoy RUclips again. I'll watch as often as possible! You're still doing great quality work, and videos! Thank you!
Another nice detailed video. Curious, how do you determine if the garage floor will need saw cuts? In my subdivision, all new homes and none of them have saw cuts. Hence, my question. Thanks
If you were to cut the concrete too soon would it chip aggrograte (larger chucks to pop out) or cause it to crack? About how long should you wait (shortest/longest)?
Looks so nice. New concrete is awesome looking to me. Also, I had no idea you had your own gloves. From what I remember this is the house where you installed trees and a curb?
I wish all garages are saw cut. Nothing bugs me worse when I'm working on my car or truck and a jack gets caught on the expansion joint, or the jack stand needs to go right there and I have to move everything by an inch just to get around the joint
I find it amazing how strong old concrete is compared to new aged concrete all those chemicals they add don’t seem to help strengthen it at all just make it harder to finish!
It's not the age that makes a difference, it's the amount of money you want to spend. You want a better mix that lasts longer, you're gonna pay a lot more. That's how it's been for over 2,000 years. People generally don't care to pay more if they're not gonna be alive to benefit from the extra longevity. Oh and all those "chemicals" they add? Again, those same "chemicals" have been standard additives since the Roman empire. Practical Engineering has some good videos on the subject if you want to learn how concrete works.
Ok I see….. I ask because I’m stepping out on faith and starting my own business I don’t wanna short sell my self or over price anyone so I’m just doing my research trying to find the right balance
@@OdellCompleteConcrete would you recommend using a floor paint? If so how many days / weeks must the concrete settle before applying? In the UK they recommend using a damproof membrane in either plastic or butyle before pouring in the 3 to 5 inch mix, what's your views on this method?

Hi Arkansas
I haven't seen you in a while, how's the red stick holding up?
Hi! always love your work! Just had a quick question: what is the advantage of using a wooden bull float first versus a mag bull float?
hey brother, from my experience. Wooden floats help push down the aggregate to allow cream to rise and give a smoother finish
Wow that was thin. That was poured back in the day when there was plenty of portland in the mix
Yes, I think that was the difference

Yes it can happen , but less likely with fiber mesh additive

Crack control

Your correct
About how much should a homeowner set aside for a garage floor this size to be jacked out, leveled, reinforced, poured and finished?
5000
When raising the level like this - could you get away with just leaving the old in there?
I did consider that but after drilling holes checking the depths, I think the 1" concrete wasn't a good base.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
What was the cost of this project?
Can't recall the first video, but I'd like to know why the saw cuts
Is it to prevent cracking or is it just a detail to make it look good?
