back in 1981 I worked for a german Baptist company doing dairy construction , I was about 16 years old. we worked 4 ten hour days setting forms and laying concrete all day . im 59 and ive hired people to do concrete for me , god bless you mr. odell .

Well.. I was planning on replacing my crappy asphalt garage floor with concrete on my own but now that I’ve realized what truly goes into it, I’ll hire that out. Wish you were in Norther Ontario, you look like you really know what you’re doing.

That garage floor was in a lot better condition than mine is. It is much easier to ignore the issue in the summer when the floor is not heaving. I guess I will have to replace it. After you lay the concrete how soon can vehicles be put in the garage?

Hey avid your a ver y educated man in concrete! I've bee a concrete superintendent for the las 20 yrs for a large construction company ! And I've learned a few things from you . I started up as an apprentice carp then after journeyman did my cement masons yrs finally a great job as a superintendent and built up my crew for my company. . Is there a concrete overlay this color and is a solid grey like this cement? I notice other products of overlay doesnt look as nice. I know this is a new slab and not overlay. Just looking for a overlay that gives a finish like at 7:44 in this video.
Also, at 9:13 when finishing, can you smooth one direction? I notice in reflection it gives a swirl look at 10:39. I'm not sure if that stays after curing though.
The swirls will fade when cured.

Very nice job. Does that Medusaw have a filter for air intake for motor cooling? A couple decade broke in carpenter who loves the worm drive saws needs to know. Anything I get near concrete or drywall dust likes to make weird noises and usually stops working soon after.

The foundation and slab move differently
Hey I have a question if you don’t mind...I’m going to stain and seal some stamped concrete. I didn’t pour it, another contractor did, but they left splattered concrete on the vinyl siding and glass window of the home. The home owners hired me to stain and seal because they didn’t trust the same ppl to do so, after seeing the messy job they did with the concrete. What product or technique can I use to get the splattered concrete off? And they also left colored release residue on the siding that didn’t come off after washing.

Correct me if I am wrong but I would say the only reason that floor cracked was that it was only 2" thick at the door and up to 8" at the back wall - nothing to do with that tree. Not sure why you put plastic on the ground though ??

I have a question... my garage floor (1 car) needs to be replaced, however there is a 12' long framed wall that is sitting up against one side of the garage foundation. When i framed that wall i shot the lower plate down into the concrete with 3' nails. Is that going to be a problem? how would you address this?

@@OdellCompleteConcrete so i had my new floor poured last friday, everything went great except for some white troweling marks that were left behind in the final finish. It's been 6 full days and all i see everywhere on the floor are the arches made by the troweling. the floor is smooth and even except for the whiteish color swirl marks left behind. what can cause that? my guy said it's normal and should go away in about 30days.
If you put glass mesh in the concrete with 3/4 cold joints do you need 3/8 rebar and base rock

Hi. I noticed you didnt remove the perimeter, obviously because its the foundation for the garage. Could there be any expansion issues over time as the new slab ages along with the existing perimeter? As that new concrete will expand at a different rate then the existing perimeter?

Looking good, I would like to know what I could fix my new sidewalk I poured yesterday, I was getting ready to saw cut , and found a 4 inch circle that came up on top a piece of leave or weed just underneath, now it’s 1/4 inch deep after cleaning it up , can this eyesore be repaired ?? The cement is drying white? Thanks

I always wondered why the plastic on certain pours...under a roof, would the plastic make the concrete stay wetter, longer and dry slower?
