    Hi Rick, I'm in Australia and I bought a Spark a couple of weeks ago. I've only flown it a few times so far, but it's fun. I flew it off a balcony near the beach and there was a very high wind velocity, and I was impressed by how stable it was. Thanks for your videos and suggestions and attention to details. Regards, James

    I always find something informative on your channel. I didn't know that the range extenders would help if the controller and drone get separated by an obstacle. That makes sense. And I've done that a time or two. Thanks for the info.

    Hi Rick, I just opened the box on my Spark last night and while charging the battery, I discovered your videos. They are great, well presented and very helpful. I just subscribed. Due to budget concerns, I'm debating about getting the remote controller now or starting with the app now and the controller later. I'll do more studying. Thanks for your very helpful videos.

    Thanks Rick, for sharing
    The landing gear, I have the ones without the guards. But with the way they snap on, a small bump into anything will pop them off. Going forward or back. Reversing the way it faces, making them snap on in the opposite direction seems to help. It does show how well the DJI thought process was in designing their prop guards. The stock version one gets lock into place and do not simply snap on. Only wish DJI produced the landing gear with the same lock-on design.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  7 лет назад

      Thanks for the update and I agree its a little confusing because you can snap them onto the arms in either direction. The way I illustrated it in the clip is the correct way to install them to make sure they stay put. I'm not sure if the set you have now came from us but there are a number of different models out there and some of them look the same but are not that great. I like the two I showed in the video because they strike a great balance between ease of use and durability. Hope you're getting a lot of time in the air. Rick

    I purchased the Myriann DJI SPARK Protection Combo,Quick Release Propeller Guard + Landing Gear Leg for DJI Spark Drone-Red, from Amazon. The propeller guards causes the obstacle avoidance system to constantly activate when nothing is within 50 feet of the drone. And I also purchased a gimble hood and it shows up in the image way too much.

    Thanks for the breakdown on these accessories, I've been debating on a number of items you featured like the blade locks. The only one I can't do though is the range extender for legal reasons. By law to operator a drone without a license as a recreational user with a drone under I can't remember what the weight limit was, I have to keep the drone in sight. Wiyh the Spark being this small, it's hard to see a mile out let alone with the extended rage.

    • @whatsup7202

      If this helps...
      The range extender is not just for increased distance. It also provides for an optimal signal in short distances.

    Great video as always. I purchase most all of your suggested accessories for both my Spark & Mavic. You've never steered my wrong. You've single handedly made my drone experience more fun.
    That being said I can't for the life of me make the direct connection between my Spark controller and my tablet.
    Using a 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, I have a 10" USB to micro USB with a Samsung OTG dongle. It won't make the connection wired but I have no issues flying wirelessly. Confused!
    Confused!

    • @KDWells918
      @KDWells918 6 лет назад

      Also I would like to see some "Oh Sh*t" videos. LOL
      Like what to do and not do when things go wrong. For example. I flew my Mavic near the Texas state fair (not over, but near) after asking a nearby officer. I wanted a photo of the fair with the cotton bowl to see the OU-Texas painted endzones. This necessitated some altitude. I was at 350' at nearing dusk. I got the great shot I wanted and lost contact with my machine. I had no idea what yo do or not to do. I took off .5 miles outside the fair and traveled to the edge of fair park. I couldn't find my Mavic in the sky and the image was frozen on my device and it was unresponsive. It began beeping that the aircraft's battery was low meaning my machine was talking to me and was still airborne even though I couldn't talk to it. Fortunately it returned to home and landed on a roof about 15' from my takeoff point. I had to climb on a roof to retrieve my Mavic but was happy all things considered. Anyway, some "What to do when things go wrong" videos would be watched and appreciated by me. Any seconds?

    Great video Rick - Like you, I seem to purchase just about any accessory (on eBay) with the words DJI & SPARK appearing in the description. It would be good to know the accessories to steer clear of or the ones you don't rate as highly. For instance, I purchased a similar type of Gimbal protector and my Spark kept crashing and throwing up Gimbal errors whenever I put it on. I also have a set of really cool looking landing gear that causes the Spark to want to auto land everytime I have them on. (obv triggering the sensor)
    Having said that, they may be just cheap copies of original designs, hence the issues I experienced.
    Please continue making these excellent/relevant DJI SPARK videos.

      @bryanbryant9962 6 лет назад

      "I purchased a similar type of Gimbal protector and my Spark kept crashing and throwing up Gimbal errors whenever I put it on." Bear in mind the protector is for storing and transporting the Spark. Don't try to fly with the protector on. Remove the protector whenever you turn on the Spark, because the gimbal motor is active and will try to react if you move the Spark, even if you're not flying.

    • @hogcat858
      @hogcat858 5 лет назад

      @@bryanbryant9962 the sunshade that is meant to use while flying makes the gimbal overheat cause the gimbal can not raise the camera where it should be cause of the clip that holds the sunshade on. I had to take a dremel tool and completely remove the clip and some of the shade to allow the camera to freely move around. Then use hot glue to hold the sunshade on.

    I've asked this before, but the question wasn't answered. With the "sun shield" on, do you get any of that in the recorded video? I've used sun shields before on various quads, and they usually wind up in the recorded video.

    • @KDWells918
      @KDWells918 6 лет назад

      A CW answered your question accurately. I have experience the same. Steady video with minor turns and adjustments doesn't seem to be diversely impacted but any forward movement or yaw results in the guard being visible.

    • @rogeriobonfim103
      @rogeriobonfim103 7 лет назад +1

      robrow I made a big mistake, sold my mavic and bought a Spark. Now I'm selling my Spark and I will wait to see if DJI will have a really new version for.Mavic otherwise I'm going to buy a Mavic again. For me the range limitations of the Spark is the big reason.

    • @robrow
      @robrow 7 лет назад

      Rogério Bonfim......Only reason I ask is I got an opportunity of a new Fly more package for around $200 discount which might help ease the negatives? Or still not worth it when compared to the Mavic?

    • @pablo9364
      @pablo9364 7 лет назад +1

      robrow to me the only advantages were 1- the spark is little and cute 2-if your drone goes down never to be seen again ie in the sea it’s less of a hit on your wallet. 3 its ever so slightly more discreet than the mavic 4 no need to fold or unfold ie it’s one lump. To me those advantages are trivial.

    • @Dronevalley

      Nope, the only upgrade is the color of the drone. DJI has done this before with the original Phantom 4 and released a limited edition model for the Chinese New Year last year. Buyer beware - my drone incorrectly said it was in a NFZ and landed in the ocean. I’ve been trying to find out what happened with DJI for weeks but they keep saying it is out of warranty. They showed no interest in getting to the bottom of what happened even though I could prove I wasn’t in a NFZ (their own maps / my flight data etc). See attached response.
    Dear Jenny - This is about the 8th time I’ve asked you the question. I am not satisfied with your complete lack of effort. I do not want you to analyse the data - I already have done that. I want to know why this happened. All the data I have looked at (and supplied to you - including flight log, CASA maps, and Fly Safe maps) indicates no reason why the drone indicated was forced to land in the ocean. The warning that came up was that it entered a no-fly zone and I was over 40kms south of the nearest no-fly zone. I want DJI to tell me why. Like I said, this is about the 8th time I’ve asked you this simple question. I find your complete lack of effort or concern frustrating. I would have thought DJI would be keen to get to the bottom of such an incident to ensure consumers did not have to go through this in future. I belief it to be due to the ongoing service DJI provide - that is incorrect software or incorrect satellite communications. As I already told you the drone was flying fine up until then, had 16 satellite connections and had 80% on the battery. I had clear line of sight and no aeroplanes or boats in the vicinity.
    Please forward my complaint to your supervisor / manager.

    Dear Paul,
    Thanks for your patience.
    We would conduct a data analysis to find out the cause of the accident if the drone is within the warranty period. However, the data analysis service is not available for your case.
    Feel free to refer to the tutorials we shared if you'd like to further investigate yourself. Your cooperation will be appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Jenny

    i think your'e worrying too much, all that protection man. ive crashed mine when learning to fly it into a tree, on to a field on to a concrete road and while learning about obstacle avoidance sideways into a bush finally ending up in a pond on a lily pad very wet.
    its still A1 ok, seems almost indestructible to me, (i'm being flippant i know, great products)
    great vid also, just subbed . Thanks

      Thanks for the post but all of these accessories are aftermarket products that are designed to fit the Spark. DJI doesn't offer these directly and they are made by other accessory vendors.

    What's the difference with the 20c and 30cm? For the controler cable

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  6 лет назад +1

      The shorter one can be used with tablets/phones that fit in the controller handle and the longer 30cm one is great if you're using a tablet adapter. Thanks for the post. Rick

    I just wonder, the "safety" bag people usually use when charging, because charge/discharge is when it actually happened (in earlier gen. of Lithium batteries) that they went nonlinear - btw.great phrase there - but in this case you'll take it out of the bag when charging ? or using it of course ? so what's the point except selling bags? In my opinion there should be a video(or you probably have one) with the OTG cable only. It's importance kind of drowns in other merchandise here. Just saying. It and the camera cover - if I carry it outside the bag - is the only two things I really find useful. The covers for the battery pins f.ex. only matters if you have OCD or very dirty pockets. Full of dirty money. From dirty youtube videos, maybe... just kidding. Keep at it, I enjoyed a few drone valley videos.

      Thanks for the post and I agree that the most dangerous time for the Lipo cells is when charging at home and discharging while flying. I recommend charging them in the Lipo bag at home with the end open to allow any heat generated to dissipate. I also recommend (and use) the bags for storing the cells during transport if you're not using a hard case. This minimizes the potential for physical damage (the third reason cells go nonlinear) by putting a puncture resistant material between the cell and anything banging up against it. As for the battery guards, these are great when storing cells in a custom case. As I mentioned in the clip they help prevent small debris like lint, dirt and foam particles that will come off of the case housing over time. Again, all of this is a personal choice and I do these clips to show other fliers what I've chose to use when I fly so they can make the choice for their own needs. I'm glad you're enjoying the clips and thanks a lot for posting. Rick

      The way I charge I can't do that. Unless I charge it on the quad, I only got the pad that charges 1-3 batteries and would need a bag big enough to cover the whole thing then..

    • @Dronevalley

      Thanks for the post and we list both of these accessories for under $10 on our website. There are a lot of "clone" products on the market that are less expensive but we only sell the actual products that I use on my own quad so you know that you're getting the items I'm reviewing in the clip. These are really inexpensive accessories to protect your delicate gimbal. Rick

      Thanks for keeping me honest. I try to limit the number of edits I do in my clips and often (as with this one) shoot the entire clip straight through. When I review it later I may leave a small goof like this in rather than trying to re-shoot the whole thing and am hoping the viewers will forgive me. I do appreciate you watching and hope you'll stop back soon. Rick

      Thanks for the post but unlike a lot of the channels on RUclips that try and rush through a topic, I like to take the time to explain things and provide insight on how I use them. I know the clips tend to be longer than others but you can always hit the FF button if I get too boring. I hope you'll sub the channel as I have a lot more content posting soon. Rick
