Thank you so much for this. I’ve been trying for an hour to find footage of a spark backing up while shooting video. No one else seems to have tested that, and I specifically want a drone to shoot some walk-and-talk footage, among other shots.

I've been struggling to figure out gesture mode myself, and this video was really helpful! I've realised I was waving my arm, rather than my hand- which is why I couldn't get that gesture to work! Further to your last part about the battery pack, I thought I'd just add that I have a Ravpower 13400 charger with quickcharge technology also works with my drone. I think you need that extra power from a quickcharge powerpack to make them work. I agree, it's really useful to be able to charge my drone on the go-especially since I have a solar charger to charge the powerpack! My drone flies using the power of the sun :D

Yes it will. You may want to consider a newer drone like the mini 3 pro or if the follow capabilities are the most important thing you should check out the Skydio.
I think it has lots to do with how carefully you read the directions. When I just glanced at them I thought I knew everything I needed to get it to work but re-reading and making sure you are doing exactly as requested and they seem to work fairly reliably.

Your tip to have it close and then send ti far away seems very good, I'll try that ASAP. Also, do you know if Spark will adjust altitude in active track? I plan on going to the mountains, so I'd like to be able to go up and down.
II just received my Spark two days ago and still having problems getting it to respond. Nicely done audio and videos for the DJI Spark tutorial, that is a big help. I'm so curious on how you connect the audio to the video. I know on my GoPro, I can use a mic wire connected to it. So, it must be a Bluetooth transmitter that you are wearing with a mic that connects to your camera. Could you explain your setup and any links of benefit to you. Thanks

May be a silly question, but the controller looks to be the same as the Mavic Pro, are they compatible? Silly to have two when you can only fly one at a time. A shame the Mavic doesn't have the same features.

Does the Spark approach and leave you according to the time length that you hold up your arms or wave it away? If so, I'm thinking this feature is not as much about taking selfies than it is providing a simple way to re-position the drone convenient to a shot. Maybe its both, but being able to manipulate the Spark this way rather than having to use a phone or remote is awfully convenient.
Yes it can record audio from ur phones microphone if u use that as the controller. Don’t buy that dumb device he listed. If u attached that dumb device to ur drone it would reduce battery life and all u would get is propeller noises

Seeing you have to set the gesture mode on the app, does that mean you have your phone and controller on and nearby. Or can you turn off your phone and controller while running gesture mode?

Use it in a meeting? It's pretty loud. For recording property you will need to use the remote - the Gesture control won't get it high or far enough from you.
Please HELP Can you lose the spark if the gesture mode won't work? mine inside the house it just slowly drops down for some reason. Dont know what to do. At least I know how to do emergency shut down now

I am not sure - it's not on my review schedule in the next 45 days. It's a decent little camera- good if you want a small DSLR but I think for many people the a6300 would give you better quality in a package just as light.

I have the fly more Combo and it has already flew 5 times away and, of course, crashed everytime. Apparently i'm not the only one, but now i just don't fly it anymore, for safety reasons, and hope that dji will release soon a firmware update.. What do you think ?
kriptonis :Ditto! Has never happened to me either. Firmware updates most likely addressed that issue. It very well could have been a batch of Sparks that had that flaw in its software. In any case, I would say learn the Spark in detail. With informative reviews like this one that really educate in its proper use and handling. This is by far the best one I've come across. Kudos for sure. It really shows, if performed correctly how impressive this lil machine really is. So glad u didn't refer to the silly jedi control. It really is a simple gesture for placing the camera where you want it to take the stills,.. And now with the updates, video. Thx for posting.

This is such a great video and shows everything clear and concise. I am wondering tho, what are you using for recording your audio. Your mic can be seen but what else are you using to capture the audio? I believe the go fly app can also record audio when you are flying but when you are using the palm launch and gesture control you are not using the app. Any insight would be awesome. Thanks.

The Spark does not record audio. You need a separate device to do that. You could go with something cheap like bhpho.to/2roZqAu

Yes - you can fly completely without the app and controller.

hasn't happened to me once and I have flown this unit about 30-40 times over the last month. That does sound frustrating.

Great question! The manual says 3 meters away and 2.3 meters above the ground.
