I just ordered one for our yard. My mother n law has bird feeders all in our yard. So i thought this would be a great lil feature for her to share with her friends.

Hi again. On my Question #3 below, after looking at the package contents again after replaying part of your great video again, I realized the mounting bracket which can be used with a 4x4 IS ALREADY INCLUDED. So, if you are willing to answer “only” my questions 1a, 2 & 4, it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. Again, thanks for making this video!!!

I love squirrels too but was glad you could keep them off the bird feeder. That's really quite a nice feeder/camera system!!

It is a nice bird feeder system. The squirrels are spoiled by having their own feeding place yet they still want all of it so a little control is good for them. BB

I love this one, the previous plastic one, had the camera out of focus too much and this looks like they have the perch farther back and the birds are focussed thank you for your review

Yes, good eye, the birds do tend to be at a better focal distance with this feeder setup and I like the organic look of it. BB

Squirrel proof system is quite the feature.

Yes, If you have squirrels or raccoons a baffle system is the way to go. I put a link to the baffle in the description. BB

Very well done video without music or repeated Like and Subscribe prompts because of which I did Like and Subscribe. Basically you sold me on this feeder. I do like the esthetics much more than the plastic and I’ve spent many an hour trying to get good photos of birds where I believe this feeder will do that for me And Identify the birds so I can learn a few things. I’m already thinking about this as a gift for my grandkids. I have a concern about the durability of the bamboo but I think that the quality and esthetics again outweigh the possible durability advantage of plastic. Thanks for doing such a professional quality yet non sales pitchy kind of presentation.

Hi. Great and VERY HELPFUL video!!! Hope I can ask some specific questions to better understand certain of your points and what you show:
    1. It appeared to me that you showed this Feeder (which I already own and have unboxed …) BOTH
    a. sitting on top of a 4x4 AND
    b. in another part ATTACHED to one side of a 4x4.
    2. Given above, wanted to ask you, if this Feeder can sit on top of the 4x4, and if so, what dopes one have to do to securely attach it?
    3. If attaching the Feeder to one side of the 4x4, how did you attach/secure it to the back??? The unit has a slider attachment panel back built-in, but unclear to me (at least) how you would attach that to the side of the 4x4? Additional mount to attach to the wood?
    4. Last question, you mention an 8 foot 4x4 (and also a 6 foot 4x4) and I believe you said the 8 foot 4x4 you drove into the ground 2 feet, and also of course using an anchor. Is that correct? Presume have to dig out some soil to make that (4x4 2 feet into ground) somewhat easier to happen.
Hope you can answer, and THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!

I recommend attaching it to the side of a 4x4 with the included bracket. these are two anchoring devices that work Multi-Purpose 30-Inch Yard & Lawn Spike for In-ground Support amzn.to/3FTsm9J
No Dig Ground Anchor - Screw in Post Stake - 27", Fits Standard 4x4 (3.5" X 3.5" Inch) Wooden Posts amzn.to/3FWh9VO
I used the spike version but the screw in one is probably a bit heavier duty. So you don't have to bury the 4x4 which is really 3.5x3.5 you just put the brackets in the ground and then attach the 4x4s at ground level. As long as you limit the weight and wind load it should hold up to most reasonable weather events. Good Luck! BB

It is a nice feeder! No I did not wax it. I would suggest that though, and use the mess free bird seed to make it easier to keep clean. BB

Exactly what is needed for getting the post in the ground without digging? You have provided 2 links for items, so I’m confused. Thx

has your Coveside Flicker box proven to be too big? contemplating which to buy. thank you

    • @MyBackyardBirding
      @MyBackyardBirding  11 месяцев назад +2

The red bellied woodpeckers do not seem to like the new box, same as Flickers basically. I think it is too big for them perhaps they feel less secure. If you are specifically targeting woodpeckers they seemed to like the old Stovall 4H amzn.to/3MK94qQ a little pricey but it is still good after 10 years and I may move the cameras back into it and swap it out with the new Coveside unless the owls take it this winter.
