    I own a 2019 HR-V and I love it. It’s not a fast vehicle off the line but it has two things that this new model doesn’t have. Two things that make me say “I’m holding on to mine for a long time!” 1) The magic seats! They have come in VERY handy since I’ve bought the car. 2) The blind spot monitoring CAMERA! I can actually SEE what’s in my right side blind spot before merging. Since I suffer from neck problems, it helps not having to turn to the far right to clear my blind spot. Furthermore, after seeing what the Asian and European markets got for THEIR version of the HR-V redesign…. I feel like we got robbed. Just my opinion. However, this is a good review of the vehicle. Thanks again and please keep ‘em coming! 🤜🤛

      The blind spot camera in my 2017 civic has me holding on to my car as well. Such an amazing feature that I wish honda would bring back, because everything else feels like a downgrade.

    • @jjacob25101
      @jjacob25101 2 года назад

      The HR-V Sport/EX-L have the blind spot monitoring warning on both mirrors, though the phase out the camera on the right side.
      The Magic Seats were great, but the previous HR-V is based on the Fit platform, and had the fuel tank under the driver's seat. The new HR-V is based on the larger Civc platform, so the added more comfortable seat bottom cushions, and made them lower when you fold the seatbacks down so the cargo surface is almost flat.

    Honda’s idea of “Sport” makes no sense to me on this HRV. First off how can you call it sport with no sunroof? Only the “sport” lettering gets blacked out? Running boards should be standard on the “sport” trim. Foglights, a roof spoiler, DUAL exhaust! Roof rack! Blacked out roof, black out all badges and emblems, make it a lifestyle CUV. I’m not sure what Honda is thinking.

      158 HP, same reliable N/A 2.0L engine as the Civic Sport. It's peppy compared to the previous HR-V. It'sbnot as fast as the 1.5L turbo, but it has this engine for a specific reason: reliable, durable, dependable, with longevity, and less potential problems, maintenance and expense with the turbo, GDI, and smaller displacement engine. The people that buy this want that reliability, even more so than Civic buyers. There's a lot of improvements, and Honda wanted to keep the price low for the equipment it has. We may think it's only a few dollars more, but gor Honda, that'sna huge expense for all the vehicles. If they added those things, they would delete lots of the nice features like the LED lights and outside mirror turn signals, and such. I hardly have rear seat passengers. A/C would be nice if you do, but I csn get smsll.power banks and charging cables to pur in the center console storage if needed. However, my OCD self would want a map pocket behind the Driver's/Left seat.

      @@jjacob25101 You're absolutely right JJacob. I just would like to see cup holders and at least one port for connectivity. I think for some buyers those amenities are expected especially for 2023 models and above. I have a 2022 Camry and having the kids in the back with cup holders is great. Connectivity isn't a necessity but I think even cup holders on the passenger door panels goes a long way. You're absolutely right about the engine having better longevity and less issues down the road so I understand why Honda chose that route. I just don't understand why the omission of cup holders is all.

Maybe someone can make an aftermarket cupholder on the rear floor center between the seat and center console. I believe they designed the console for A/C vents where you can store a smartphone and USB ports under that as a possible later add on. Maybe a dealer installed accessory.

    Awesome review! What a big, let down Honda just gave me with this car! Honda went cheap on the 2023 HRV. The car has a cheap, small display, one exhaust, 2.0 L dog engine, no sunroof, no rear AC Vents, and I did not see a COOLANT gauge! I bet this car is very slow without the 1.5 L turbo. I've owned Civics and CRV's since 2002 to 2021. I won't buy the 2023 HRV.

    • @jjacob25101
      @jjacob25101 2 года назад

      Like the Civics, the engine coolant gauge is a big irk, but like commented here, this is a reliable and dependable vehicle that shoukd not overheat if you don't thrash and abuse it, drive like a maniac, jack rabbit starts, and maintain it well and frequently inspect the hoses and such. It has 20 more HP than the previous HR-V, and in comparison is much more peppy and adequate for the majority of HR-V buyers, with less potential problems, maintenance and expense than the turbo engine. Also keep in mind that earlier Civic and Corollas has 130 HP or less. This is a compact SUV, not even a Civic Sport, it is what it is.
      But recently, K-Tuner released a calibration for the Civic with this same engine at about $300 that brings horsepower and torque up to non Si 1.5L turbo engine level, without the turbo and GDI. K-Tuner could tweak the calibration to optimize it for the HR-V with the ECM controls for the CVT. If you are a rabid tuner with mucho dinero, you could get the AWD Sport and drop in the detuned Type R 2.0L turbo engine from the Accord Sport and be running 260+ hp...
      People need to realize a Sport Trim vehicle is not always meant to be a high performance vehicle. At least fir the standard production mass market consumer vehicles.

    • @jjacob25101
      @jjacob25101 2 года назад

      Honda made a specifically different HR-V for the North American market, compared to the smaller Hybrid. The US buyers for the HR-V would prefer the reliability of this engine, and that's why it has the N/A 2.0L engine like the Civic Sport. They can always add a Sport Touring turbo and a Hybrid version later. But the Sport trim will probably be the most popular and best selling trim, just like the Civic.
      Like the Civic Sport, and many other vehicles, I am fine with the single exhaust tip for the HR-V Sport with this engine. If it had a higher output engine that could benefit from dual exhaust, like if they offer a Sport Touring like the Civic Hatchback later, then dual exhaust tips would be nice.
      As far as the chrome emblems, this is one of probably several press/demo cars. The black emblems are an OEM accessory option, but I think the Sport trim should come standard with all black emblems.

    • @jjacob25101
      @jjacob25101 2 года назад

      The other new HR-V is a Hybrid, that is smaller. Honda made this HR-V completely different for the North American market for a reason and purpose. The majority of potential targeted buyer demographic in this market wants a stylish, refined compact SUV that thatcis reliable, dependable, durable, and with the longevity of a Toyota Corolla, or Honda Civic with the same tried and true normally aspirated engine. They have the option to offer a turbo or Hybrid version later, but that's not their plan for initial release. They have too much things to focus on, including the subsequent release of the new CR-V and Pilot.
      The black emblems are am OEM factory accessory option, though I believe it should come included on the Sport Trim. Like the Civic Sport, it's a must for me, unless you have a black vehicle and want to customize it with different colors, like Gold or Red, etc.
      As far as the dual exhaust, I normally would want that with a vehicle with 200+ horsepower, but it's unnecessary for this and looks fine, like the Civic Sport Sedan. There are lots of sporty cars with just a single exhaust tip, some with more horsepower, but it fits the aesthetics of the vehicle.

The Hyundai Tucson robot look is an example. I'm looking to buy a new SUV at the end of the year. My choices to check out are the KIA Sportage and that new Mazda MX-50. So be prepared for a long wait to get this SUV if my experience is typical of other customers. Unfortunately, Honda provides no information on transit progress like one gets when ordering from Amazon,. Walmart, eBay, etc. And it is hard to understand why they gave me an arrival date in early August as if the car was in transit, then a mid-August, then a late August, and now Sept. 6-10. It is hard for me to believe that the car left for delivery in early August and has been in transit for a month. From Honda's plant in Celaya, Guanajuato to the car dealership where I ordered the SUV, is about 2550 miles and for a direct route would take 40 hours according to Google maps.

I like the size, the general, shape, the new colors, and the updated design language in the interior. Everything looks pretty fresh and like how the car looks like how a modern Honda should look. Love that they threw in physical controls for your climate control unit too. The traditional gear shifter is also a huge bonus. So glad they didn't go with the same stupid electronic gear shifting approach as every other car manufacturer seems to be doing right now. I like a traditional gear selector, as I find it more intuitive to use when your in a tight spot requiring you to back up and move forward a lot. Overall, Honda did a nice job on this car

    why the hell is the HRV in the US is different here from Southeast Asia? somebody can explain?? lol

      The global HR-V is a B-segment crossover. This HR-V for North America only is a completely new C-segment crossover from Honda built on the Civic platform. Other regions are also expected to receive this new vehicle under the name ZR-V.

    Definitely looks better than the outgoing model. The front looks a lot like a Ford Escape. Too many missing amenities to be a mid level. Thanks Joe and Lori. Nice job!
    Beautiful country up there. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

    The dealerships around DFW have a white sport on the showroom floor. It looks very good, but the first thing I noticed is two different badge colors. I don't understand why they would do that. Also, skipping out on rear vents is crazy and they ought to include a center arm rest for those passengers. However, I am glad they moved the front cupholders away from the arm rest. My 16 has a sliding arm rest and if you push it all the way up (where it's the most comfortable) it partially covers one of the cup holder.

      The Sport should come with all black emblems, but they are an OEM accessory option. A must have for me when I get mine.

    Awesome 1st Look Review For The All New Redesigned 2023 Honda HR-V Sport Trim Level. If the Sport Trim Level Is Not Loaded So What's the exact reason for the base model LX?

    • @jjacob25101
      @jjacob25101 2 года назад

      The LX is the base entry level trim for the non enthusiast buyer. The Sport is the sweet spot with the sporty appearance, ride and steering. The EX-L is fir the non enthusiast who wants all the creature comforts, like the Civics. And if they come out with a Sport Touring, like the Civic Hatchback. Itvwill have all the Sport and luxury features and options fir a much higher price
