Watching this on the big television in the front room and it’s the best camera in the RUclips business I am a retired truck driver have about 45 years sure brings back memories
Booth Machinery - always wondered what John Wilkes was up to these days. Got himself some tractors... Thanks, Mike. This is as close to Commiefornia as I wanna get. Great scenery. Hideous legislators. Say hi to Gov. Nuisance.
G'day mate Another hour riding shot gun keep the vids up we will keep watching best quality so far I like when the front mirrors are in view but not bloody complaining aye
I absolutely love this. As a former RV driver , I went up and down the east coast and I wanted to keep traveling but my health wouldn’t allow it. If anyone needed an experienced traveling buddy, please give me a shout out. Thanks for letting me travel along.🙏🏻❣️👏🏼
Why no videos of Sacramento or Woodland? I know not much to look at on the freeway, but I wanted to see you maneuver the traffic. At least you can get a shot going over the bridges with the river below it. We had a 10 acre fire here today, with mandatory evacuations. My husband was helping neighbors while I was wetting the roof and putting cats in cages. One cat got out and hid under the bed. That was a waste of time, luckily the evacuation was lifted before I had to pull him out. Last year's evacuation went better, we had an hour to prepare. What can you do in 10 minutes...not much.
Hi everyone, sure is nice to finish a long day working watching Mike work all day and he does 11 hours in oh about 44 minutes. How does he do it? HA! He does magic!! See you all on the next one. Be safe on the roads cause like that car wanting to go around everyone to make a right turn, they all are out there. Waiting
A “National” fishing license.., just like all of our driver and pilot licenses... is something that should be made available to everyone in the country. I don’t enjoy having to purchase a fishing license for each and every state that I travel to. Fishing, while traveling quickly becomes cost prohibited. BTW, how was the fishing there on the Walker River just above Bishop, Ca?
Isn’t Pittsburgh the last stop on the BART? Roads look great but I guess high gas taxes help support the infrastructure? Enjoyed see you next trip. Thanks
Time 8:28 "Ink jets kind of slow...." Yes, they are, and they also are kind of messy. Also cartridges get blocked and waste a lot of ink. Presh prints smudge and are another form of waste. Laser printers maye be a bit more expensive, but are much cleaner overall.
A little squeak in the steering wheel? Enjoy, ing my old stomping ground. CA native. Drove team from San Jose to Columbus OH hauling electronics. Had to be there and back in 5 days. Now Ohioan but retired from trucking. Enjoys the comments. 😁
You can also watch John Candy's last film, Wagons East, it has something about the Donner Party in it. If you do every time you cross Donner Pass you will think of a line about human nature. The only people who did resort to cannibalism were the group who left the rest at Truckee Lake, renamed Donner Lake, to hike to Bear Valley to get help. This group of 17 men, women, and children wound up being called the party of Forlom Hope. The ones who stayed at Donner Lake did not resort to cannibalism. Sad thing, they could not find their frozen cows till some of the snow melted, as it did the ones who stayed at Truckee Lake were able to start eating some of the meat. Also no one knew how to ice fish, and Truckee Lake was full of Fish.
My mother was raised in San Jose, where some of the Donner Party settled after their hellish journey. I asked her once if she knew any of them, and she said "oh yes, we were aware that they were there and who they were." She knew one of the families in SJ, and their daughter attended Mom's same school. They had a nodding acquaintance but were not friends. So, not the entire Donner Party died; some did survive and did rather well in their new California home in ensuing years. Were they the ones who survived on the flesh of friends? No one asked. One didn't, in those days. It was considered to shocking to discuss, and they were not indicted by law, I don't believe. It would have been Desecration of a Corpse, but the then-small community of San Jose simply never spoke of it.
Hey there Mountain Man, It's good to be riding along again. I always enjoy your California videos, especially if you can get some fishing in. (Last time on the Walker River along the 395. Big fires up that way as of the middle of July.) I'm surprised you don't have a dedicated fishing pole and small tackle box for your truck. That way you don't leave them behind, forget them of whatever. Get 'em on sale at the end of the season, stash a rig in the cab, and you're always prepared. This video I'm guessing, is from around fathers day. The low water in the Truckee River is emblematic of the whole west coast, and the rivers are getting lower every day. There is very little snow to melt. It's going to be a very tough fire season for sure. Worst drought in 1200 years or at least back to 1977/1978. Reno NV is attractive living for many in Cali. The real-estate has gone through the roof for all the standard reasons but also because of all the tech giants buying up both commercial and residential properties. It's easy to commute by air or car to Silicon Valley and if you're actually working in NV for the big tech firms (via tele-commuting, zoom, etc), taxes, cost of living and quality of life are way better than the deteriorating Commie-formula. The migration out of Cali is being led by the big tech firms, but it's on the down-low. They want to keep it hush -hush so as not to create a run on NV properties. Ha, that's already happened over the past decade with the housing bust of 2008, the low interest rates from the Fed and lack of housing in CA. You will see a building boom in Reno with residential towers and office space being built by individual companies like Apple, Google, etc. Company tower towns to house company employees. It was nice to see the black soil and green fields of Salinas. The water crisis in Cali will have a big impact on the whole agriculture industry out here. Many of the main reservoirs for the state water system are just about dried up. It will impact crop production and thus prices. Inflation has been hidden and under reported for years but the drought will be blamed for the sudden and large price increases in fresh, frozen and canned food we are all going to see over the next few years. Plant a garden at home and grow your own, it will save you some cash so you can buy another fishing pole. Ha! Stay well good buddy and we'll see 'ya on the next one. ...
The western states can learn a lot from countries like India and Israel as they have figured out how to take advantage of all the rain the falls in an area using simple ditches and dirt berms to stop the water from running right into the creeks when it rains so it has time to soak in to recharge the ground water and increase the output of the springs that slowly feed the creeks and rivers over months rather then floods every rain. It is not even a labor or cost issue as prison work gangs can do the work cheaply and be happy to not be inside the prison fence for a day. If they go into another lockdown a very easy solution for fastfood and other food places to deal with walk up customers is to simply look at what banks with the glass divider and use the simple 2 door airlock pass thru windows. A simple electromagnet door catch on the customer door would let the person inside have full control on when that door opens.
Truck drivers are awesome , lov watching you drive the road ... I wish I could be a road warrior ... I’ve had thoughts of being a truck driver but in my attempts to travel from here to there ...so far ...fear and missing the house SICKNESS overcomes me horribly and I just can’t get past it to keep going forward errrrrr I hate it ...but I will try again .
Hey Mike !!! Thanks for the ride !!!! That Smoke from those ""WEST "" fires are ALL the way across to the ""CAROLINAS""!!! Have a good weekend & ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!!
Thank you for having us with you... It's awesome traveling with you... Thank you... Can you imagine a 82 inch screen, we have a blast going places with you...

enjoying the ride; have seen some crosses along the highway, a big USA flag and wondering if there is RR tracks for the CA. Zephyr #5/6 it comes through here on the way to Emeryville. Love anything to do with Donner Pass too. drive safe
WHEN I FIRST hit the road I was told to stay of I-80 and the one time I was on it in a brand new Ford Excursion or Expedition broke down out in the middle of nowhere. I was hitchhiking so I just left dude there....
I work at the sorting facility making the pallets for the big trucks. I think you’re a popular person in the trucking business. Thanks for the views before I vacation I can see what to expect before I get there.
Eventually I will catch up with you live streamin' !!! Been a fan for almost a year now...... Been out there years ago. Miss the road. Thanks for sharing and love the view!!
My wife and I were snowed in at the Truckee truck plaza for three days, we wanted to set ourselves on fire 🔥 We got a motel and tried to make the best of it We were so glad when the CHP opened Donner Pass 🙏
Yup!! The Donner party got there because the first route they were gonna take was too long and they requested a shorter route over the pass. All they had to do was keep going a little further and they would have been home. But soon they ran out of food, then began eating the horses and dogs, but the storm lasted so long they had to finally resort to eating their own that had died from the cold!! Can you imagine trying to pick up your life after that??
Have you considered downloading the app Hammer for big truck GPS? Seems pretty legit. I used the Rand McNally GPS, which was the best one of any I tried. Saved me a lot of headaches, even though they’re not infallible, but common sense played a significant part also. If it said turn on a road with no center, or berm lines, I just ignored it, and went on till I found a road that I knew I could trust.
Watching this on the big television in the front room and it’s the best camera in the RUclips business I am a retired truck driver have about 45 years sure brings back memories

Always enjoy your videos. Thanks for the ride
well, in the old days a cop would hit his siren to get their attention
Why are you still dealing with those wonkey wipers?
whats with the exaggerated "peace" at the end?

Basically, good policy to use NV or AZ as your fuel source.. avoiding contributing to the CA tax base as much as possible.

New York 🍏 the big apple
Saw six double trailer Fed Ex trucks come flying through Grand County today. Lots of extra traffic with Glenwood canyon closed.
Lol…we don’t need no stinking bike seats!
Not only uncomfortable looking that bike seemed too small for him. Beautiful day! Enjoyed riding shotgun. Peace be with you.
Have driven that part of I-80 many times. The Nevada and California Highway Patrol really enforce the stretch from Reno to Truckee.
I was going to ask you if your truck was governed, or unlimited.
I had a few governed, but favored the unlimited. Especially out in Dakotas.
I never could understand why they would allow the trucks to stack up on the highway at scales.
