For the most part, it's not a bad video, but you forgot a few steps. In step one, you want to have water running through the unit when you unplug it. This is so that the valves are in the correct position. Otherwise, you did all this and did not clean the entire unit, and it could lead to problems.
    Two.
Above the cold side(blue handle) is a black round piece. That is the incoming water screen. That should be unscrewed and clean.
    Three
When you are all done before plugging in, open up a faucet on the hot side to flush all the chemicals out before activating any heating features.
I would also recommend cleaning the condensation trap and incoming air screen. This should be done with every cleaning.
Hope this helps with future cleanings

Nice! Thank you. I didn't see my plumber do those added steps, but I would've liked to! Now I've got to look up what a condensation trap is, and an incoming air screen so I can make sure I add this to my to-do list next time I flush it. Thanks for watching!

Not every 3-5 years. If I’m not mistaken it’s every two years max.

We have a water softener. The plumber said it would need to be done more often if we did not have one. So you're probably right, if you don't have a water softener it would be good to do this every other year. Thanks for pointing that out.
