I’ve had the same thought as you on the builders kit. The OZ9 concept is a good idea, but I’ve also had multiple quality issues (undersized safety plunger pocket, large burs, dremeled repairs, etc) with Zev slides. I don’t trust their full gun. Zev is coming out with a heavy tungsten TXG module soon, they did a limited release already. This makes it a very compelling option for USPSA giving similar weight to a Sig X5 Legion, but lower bore axis. I’d probably try a TXG module and OZ9 frame and just run a Glock OEM upper. I’d rather have as little Zev parts as possible to get the heavy frame.
So what's the total $ investment to get a functioning Zev? The last thing I want to hear from a manufacturer is that I should break in the firearm by wasting hundreds of dollars in ammo in the hope that it starts running.
I had extraction issues with my new OZ9. I was getting like 2 failure to extract every USPSA match. I tried a Apex extractor part #102-104 and it was even worse. Switched to a Zaffiri Precision billet extractor ($30) and has been running flawless ever since with zero extraction issues even with aluminum cased ammo.
Got the Zev, had to change internals by taran tactical . So i do understand the frustration. So my next change is the barrel. Getting the agency arms barrel!
I had the same experience with my OZ9. So, I didn’t trust it as it came from the factory. Broke multiple of the Zev strikers, the trigger bar was wearing oddly on the end of the cruciform, their extractor is ass, etc. Replaced all of the internals with factory Glock internals, minus the trigger, and now it’s ultra reliable and my favorite pistol. Zev should just put the chassis and grips for sale separately. It’s a missed opportunity.
I went custom build due to Zev slide being so damn expensive. End up with OZ9 standard frame and grip, small magwell, Zaffiri Precision ZPS.4 slide and ported barrel. The whole thing was this past Christmas for around $950 which is a lot less than the Hypercomp.
@@cre8tvk457 the original ones do. You have to be careful when building it, because one kit is for G19 size, the other is for G17. And like normal Glocks, slides are not interchangeable between the two. The new V2 I'm not sure, since Zev says they used Glock Gen 5 components and Zev page itself clearly says their old OZ9 slides are NOT compatible with new V2 MBK.
I bought the OZ9 covert. Ran for a couple thousand rounds and then started malfunctioning a ton. Swapped the trigger to Glocks new GPT, swapped the recoil spring and guide rod to Strike industries Mass Driver comp, dropped the firing pin spring down to 4lbs and now it functions reliably. If i could go back and just by the chassis and grip module, then just build my own slide… I would definitely just do that.
My gripe with ZEV is the crappy allen head screw they have retaining the guide rod spring in place. No matter how many times you loctite at the damn thing always comes loose. Almost every ZEV I checked is either loose out of the box or goes loose soon after shooting it. ZEV needs to redesign that part like Shadow systems does it.
@@peterv1318 yes I did, got the combat oz9 had 300+ rounds thru it. Had to get extra mags so I went with Bul Armory axe magazines because pmags tends to double feed and no visual aid identifying round counts. Runs like a dream no issues yet!
Just buy a Glock guys. Or the only other Austrian Glock, the Steyr A2 MF. Pull it out of the box, don't even lube it, and if it's your carry gun change the extractor, firing pin assembly, and recoil spring every 5,000 rounds. Barrel at 12-15k.

The less Zev you have the better.
I did that. Just swapped the zev upper for a oem upper. Works fantastic now

Might be a dumb question, but can I put an OEM complete Glock slide on the Zev frame? If so? What gen?

What model is that Agency arms slide? Gen 4?
Slide internal parts???
Why the sideways shooting style?
What’s going on with that hand🤔?

So the zev frame can run g19 gen 3 slides?

What's up with your arm?
Got it stuck in a flesh light

My combat works awesome. Nothing changed.
I got the combat last month put about 600rds into it. Only had about 4-5 light primer strike. Other then that zero jam or stove tops lol

Hmm
hard to imagine that Zev is this bad? It aint a cheap gun. unbelievable if this is true because I'm getting the oz9 this June! What to do?
Did you get yours? I have one but didn’t shoot it yet.

@@topbone - nice glad to hear that. Thank you for replying back.
nice vid
I was there
Haha
Buy an expensive ass gun, then spend more money swapping to stock or other expensive ass parts to make it run right. Hahahaha, gotta love it!
By the way, you need pistol course with Fieldcraft Survival for example. Your technique is bad 😉
Appreciate the advice 👍🏽 I’ll make sure to work that into 2023 budget
@@qrcmedia 😂 alright
A modified Gucci Glock that needs a tons of $$$$ to make it work

Staccato C2DPO, and don't look back.
