Just bought the OZ9 this past Monday and it also came with 2lb and 3lb striker springs for trigger inside that pouch. That was a bit of a surprise. I plan to shoot it this weekend.
Just leave the lighter striker springs in the box unless its a competition gun you are tuning to work with a particular primer all the time. As soon as you lighten the striker spring (in any gun), you are significantly increasing the chance of regular failures to fire with harder primers.
I have both, the shadow shoots nicer, as in straighter and softer. At least for me. The zev looks nicer but the mr918 shoots nicer. Just my opinion. About 2k rounds through each of them.
First off thanks for taking the time putting out this video for us. On the version with the bushnell pattern, do you know if zev puts out different plates for different optic patterns? Or is that slide stuck with just the bushnell?
All zev slides are direct milled using their proprietary cut which uses thread bosses which fit up inside of the optic body. In my opinion this is the superior optic cut on the market, and is now being licensed by C&H precision as well. But this does mean that the slide is locked into a particular optic footprint. I would strongly advise against getting the bushnell pattern.
Absolutely. Both the standard and conversion slides are Glock compatible. Just make sure you have the generation glock that is compatible with the slide. OZ9 slides are Gen 3 compatible.
The cools thing about the Zev slides is that they have an extremely low cut in the slide, which does in fact make the factory sights usable through the RMR or SRO. Its not a standard co-witness, but you can get a usable alignment of the front post with the rear notch usign standard height sights.
I got the zev oz9 but its the competition version. really long barrel. im not a competition shooter so im having some buyers remorse kinda wish i had just got the compact. Can you use a competition gun as a self defense weapon?
I just grabbed the oz9x it’s like a 19x version. Man it’s a pain to get the slide on and off. The ejector hits the backplate every time. Have you experienced this. I’m pretty sure it’s just tolerances in the backplate and I need to get some more rounds in.
To each his own I guess. For the record I don't believe I said I prefer Pmags, just that I run them a lot. The reason I've run them is very simple, price. If I want a hi-cap mag (21-22 rounds), I have two basic options. I can buy a Glock 17 rounder for like $25, and then add a basepad like the Zev for like $30, for a total of $55 per magazine. OR I can just buy a 21 round pmag for like $17. I like to have a bunch of mags loaded up for classes and range days so that difference adds up real quick. If price is no object I do prefer glock mags with basepads for two reasons, easier to identify exactly how many rounds are loaded, and the weight of the basepads helps them drop free when empty a little bit easier. However, I've run about 15k rounds all through pmags over the last year with literally zero malfunctions or issues that could be attributed to the mags. So in my personal experience there is absolutely nothing wrong with them.
I've had nothing but good things to say about everything I have bought from Magpul, especially the performance of the 5.55/.223 pmags. On the other hand, I have no good things to say about the glock pmags. I haven't shot with them a lot, but I also never got the chance to. Last resort mags
P3 Tactical - So with all the aftermarket available, why PMags? I get they’re cheaper and come in more convenient sizes, but so do ETS Mags and they were nice enough to make the magazine a witness hole instead of being cheap and cutting just 1 at the bottom.
All the reports I'm aware of are relating to a limited run of trigger components that was messed up by a third party vendor. That run was recalled back in October. I've seen no reports of problems with guns outside of that run or with new guns since. I personally am at about 4k rounds through the gun so far without a single malfunction of any kind. For the most part, all the fire control parts are built on the Glock platform, and are Zev parts that have been performing very well for a very long time.
I think they shouldve included 2 mag extensions. The gun doesnt come with 3 mags which sucks and for what you're paying I think they coukdve at least given 2 mag extensions.
The ZEV OZ9 is a good gun and shoots very well. Now the mags (PMAGS) that come with it suck. I got one 3 days ago and it jammed. I even tried an older PMAG and it jammed as well. I used FMJ and duty ammo. I tried GLOCK mags and it shot flawlessly. I contacted ZEV and their solution was to send in the gun so it can be checked or send in the mags so they can send me 2 more PMAGS. I posted a review yesterday and it still is not showing up.
Thanks for the feedback and that's good to know. I personally have been putting a minimum of 1k rounds per month through a combination of 15, 17 and 21 round pmags with no issues for about 2 years. For my information can you clarify what you mean by a jam? That isn't a real malfunction. Thanks.
Alfredo Bodden That’s gonna be a solid maybe haha. There are some that will work but it’s not a guarantee. It’s more like to work with a holster for a large weapon light like the X300. But there are also a number of companies making OZ9 specific holsters now including QVO tactical, squared away customs and red hill tactical.
Great video I like how you edited the gun shots. Some video's it gets a bit fatiguing listening to the gunshots over and over again without them being edited quite like this.
You should watch my actual review. As I explain in that I really don't believe its possible to buy a glock and perform all the same modifications to it for less money. Even if you did that, it's still impossible to modify a glock to where it is steel framed with interchangeable grip modules. Now with that said it entirely possible that it's still not worth the price to you. In which case you can just buy a stock gun and be totally fine.
RTF2 Gen3 way better especially if you no how to tune them better then Gen5 ect. Best trigger paired with a EvoElite 13lb recoil spring with tuned rails
$1,600 for a Glorified Glock thats actually a piece of shit that fires randomly without even pulling the trigger. DO NOT buy one of these guns, i will forever regret wasting $1600 on mine smh
It's not a Glock, obviously. And personally owning one, it's a phenomenal handgun. Never had a misfire or malfunction with mine. Yes, it's expensive. But some of us can actually afford to buy guns we want. Sorry if you can't.
No clue who that is or why we should trust his opinion, but I have seen the video, and yes Zev did have manufacturing defect with a trigger component on a limited run last year. All those guns have been replaced. I'm personally about 7,000 rounds through the OZ9 with zero issues, and I haven't heard of any issues from anybody out there since. When you talk to guys that actually shoot a lot you will find that we've seen lemons from almost every product out there, and anything out there can break. I just got a safety recall email from Daniel Defense this morning, but I still put them out there as some of the best AR's available. Regardless, I would just be careful about taking a single anecdotal data point and assuming its true for an entire product line. I guarantee there's a RUclips video out there somewhere showing an issue with whatever your gun of choice is. As far as the price goes, you certainly can buy a stock Glock for $500 and be totally fine. However, for this gun is, it is definitely not overprice. Buying a Glock and sending it off to have all the work done to it that comes with the OZ9 could easily cost you $2k, and you still wouldn't have some of the features from the OZ9. With our discount code the OZ9 standard run about $1461. Is it worth it for everyone? Probably not. But if you want a performance pistol with the features of the OZ9 and the reliability of the Glock that is 100% ready to go right out of the box, then yeah its worth it.

@@P3Tactical Thanks P3 - will do. Keeping those springs in the box ;-)
My shadow systems came in a huge, black gun case. Bigger than that. Great for travel.
Yeah I just saw some of their stuff for the first time at SHOT. Looks like some pretty cool ideas.
I have both, the shadow shoots nicer, as in straighter and softer. At least for me. The zev looks nicer but the mr918 shoots nicer. Just my opinion. About 2k rounds through each of them.
Hey what IWB holster is that you have? And what basepad is that? Share please! Thank you
What kind of mag extension are you running that is compatible with the ZEV mag well?
And is the OZ9 compatible with all Glock holsters?

What conceal holster are you wearing? PLEASE !!!
I assume this was a Phlster floodlight. That and the Tier 1 Concealed MSP are great options for the OZ9!
@@P3Tactical thank you so much.
what model should I get if I want to be able to change between full size and compact, thank you.
The OZ9c supports the compact slides natively, as well as the full size and 5" adapter slides.
@@P3Tactical thank you for your reply sir. Will probably get the oz9 comp and buy the additional barrel and slide for the long19 slide.
Also is there gun shops that will advise??
Ruger for one and the list goes on, for nice waterproof cases. Pretty typical when spending 2k for a gun
Hey man, nice review im planing to get the Oz 9c, does the zev slide fits in an oem glock frame? Thanks
Absolutely. Both the standard and conversion slides are Glock compatible. Just make sure you have the generation glock that is compatible with the slide. OZ9 slides are Gen 3 compatible.
Does the Trijicon SRO co-witness with the sights like the RMR does, or do you have to add suppressor sights for it?
neither co witness on this without suppressor height sights.
The cools thing about the Zev slides is that they have an extremely low cut in the slide, which does in fact make the factory sights usable through the RMR or SRO. Its not a standard co-witness, but you can get a usable alignment of the front post with the rear notch usign standard height sights.
Would it be possible for you to do a review on the competition Zev oz9?
I might do a video at some point but there wouldn't be much new information to put out as it's essentially the same gun with a longer slide.
I got the zev oz9 but its the competition version. really long barrel. im not a competition shooter so im having some buyers remorse kinda wish i had just got the compact. Can you use a competition gun as a self defense weapon?
Yes, a lot of people are able to appendix carry a Glock 34 without too much discomfort.
I just grabbed the oz9x it’s like a 19x version. Man it’s a pain to get the slide on and off. The ejector hits the backplate every time. Have you experienced this. I’m pretty sure it’s just tolerances in the backplate and I need to get some more rounds in.
Mine isn’t hard at all . Easy as Glock
Does anyone know where I can get zevs mag extension for the 15 round pmags?
That product has unfortunately been discontinued.
Alita battle angel. they need to make a sequel.
It's hard to trust a guy who prefers P Mags over Glock mags in a Glock.

I'd like a g20 80% can I get one with simple instalattion..and legit that accepts glock parts such as trigger bar tungsten weight those kids things
Would you go for this one or the cz shadow 2 ? I want to edc , I dont mind the full size frames either
I wouldn't choose a DA/SA for EDC personally.
