    Thanks for this great lesson. I'm waiting for Sunday to sit on it in one go, reduce the play speed as much as possible and watch the genius at work.

      @@felixthecad6154 thanks man. I was planning to model this car from the moment I saw the trailer. There are more details now with the variable wheel base and the interior sketches released. I am spending like 2 hrs a day on your model as reference struggling with the fillets and making the light pattern with in Dynamo. (I'm a beginner) i'm rebuilding the model and practicing alias. This is the most challenging and time consuming project I ever worked on. I'll make an animation soon and tag you on instagram if you have an account. Again thanks for helping me start this journey.

      @@felixthecad6154 i'm still stuck at this, it's giving me nightmares. i chose a fairly complex model to start learning Alias Subdivs 😂
      i don't understand the front fenders, exactly between the door and the front wheel, i can't get reflections that match the body sides like in the reference images.
      you started tweaking it with loop 4 at 01:49:30.
      There's two major constraints:
      1- there has to be some clearance between the two moving body parts.
      2- the door has that creased character horizontal line but the front part doesn't.
      i stareted adding loops to account for the design intent until i lost controle of the model lol.
      i wanted to ask why do you keep the wheel arches as separate bodies?

    • @felixthecad6154
      @felixthecad6154 2 года назад

      @@nonameishere7234 don't get too hung up on reflections! you have to add too many edge loops to really get clean results. which makes your model hard to change. and being able to implement changes quickly is the whole point in using Sub-D over NURBS.
      The horizontal line in the body side is actually quite subtle. and since the surface from the wheelarce is coming with an angle and basiclally intersects the bodyside, you dont need to pick up the break in that area.
      I keep the wheel arches separate to use them as reference if I have to change the topology on the fenders. so i can get them round again and don't have to guess too much.

    How did you separate the subd faces @33:28 ? I mean the seperation of the roof surface and the dropping surface behind it.

    Hello.
    Is Autodesk Alias Surface the same software as Alias AutoStudio, Alias Design and Speedform? Thanks.

    • @felixthecad6154
      @felixthecad6154 2 года назад

      when it comes to sub-d there should not be a difference between the AutoStudio, Surface and design. And I think Speedform has been discontinued by Autodesk.

  • @SebSto3D

    I always wonder how SubD in Alias differs from SubD in say Max, or Maya.

    • @HandleBar3D
      @HandleBar3D  2 года назад +2

      I think the main difference is you can trim and run fillets on them. Treat them as nurbs basically.
      With mesh sub d you have to figure out the topology.
      If you don’t trim in sub D and treat as you would a mesh model, you can easily transfer the cage data back and forth from nurbs to mesh with sub D. Very nice workflow if you do a bunch of viz in blender like me.
