I have the Gold card, Citi Custom Cash. If I get rid of the Gold card, I would get the BCP if I get a good upgrade offer from the BCE even though I would lose the online purchases for streaming from the BCE to the BCP which my upgrade is $75 when spending $1000 in 6 months, which is WEAK. I have the Discover It Cash Back and want to upgrade back the Freedom Unlimited to the Flex in the future for more quarterly categories for when groceries come up. When inquires fall off, the AAA card seems appealing. I wouldn't qualify for the Verizon Visa since I have prepaid. The US Altitude, I have too many inquiries, but maybe in the future if I can stomach the annual fee and use the credits.
@@vuho2075 I would just pay the $150 annual fee for the Surpass and you don't have to spend $20k to get Gold status. You would get Gold Status automatically with Surpass.

If they increase the fee on Gold and the credits are no longer good, afte my second year which just started on Gold on March 17, I will downgrade back to Green or cancel the Gold account outright if I don't get a good retention offer and the fee is raised, which is rumored. We'll have wait and see.
I love the Amex BCP. I maxed out the grocery category in around 10 months last year, and switched to the Savor One. I also used the BCP for streaming, transit, and gas in 2023, and earned over $700 in cash back last year. Very solid card!
I use the US Bank Shoppers card. Most of our shopping is at Walmart. We get 6% back (up to $1500 per quarter) which works out to $360 per year. Same card gives us 3% on utility bills up to the same amount which works out to $180 per year. Total 🟰 $540 per year. If you use this card for every day spending, it’s 1.5% unlimited. Most grocery cards exclude Walmart so this one is worth mentioning.

The Altitude Reserve is underrated. $325 credit can be used for booking a flight or dining out. Nice that it’s not a monthly credit like the Amex Gold. You kind of have a little more power imo with the AR. Offer bonus 50,000 points. (Worth $750) divided by the effective AF ($75) = 10. Meaning the card actually pays its self for a decade. I’m going to pair mine with a Citi custom cash most likely.
The AAA Daily Advantage Visa is a dark horse! All those categories with NO annual fee and NO Foreign Transaction Fees! Plus, it's the unofficial 5% Walmart cash back card since it codes as groceries as long as it's a "Supercenter" and not an "OG" Walmart. Definitely using this one for wholesale clubs and once I hit the $1,500 Freedom Flex 5X Q1 category for groceries!
Long term, I can count on 2 quarters of 5% from the Flex and Discover. Will eventually get the Custom Cash to take care of the other 6 months. I recently converted my double cash to a custom cash. I had to hold onto it for a year and was able to product change to another custom cash. On the first one, I got the bonus for spending $1500 for 20,000 thank you points. The second one I wasn’t since it was a product change.

I like your channel Josh, because you also seem to like cashback.. Seems you are on team hybrid. Most of the other credit card channels seem to focus on travel. I don't intend on traveling internationally and if I ever did have to fly domestically I'd use my chase UR which I can redeem for 1 CPP any time I like as well.

Hello from Oregon, big fan of the channel. I'm a Verizon customer in good standing for 5+ years. Really wanted the Visa card. However Synchrony Bank is somewhat confusing on how they do business. I'm a current customer w/ them in good standing for two years and was denied. I'll try again this summer. Read a lot of mixed reviews on that bank. Your thoughts? Thank you for the video.

Good options for outside of the US are the US Bank Altitude Reserve, AAA Daily Advantage Visa and the Verizon Visa (must have Verizon wireless post paid). These 3 options have no foreign transaction fees.
I wanted to keep this list to 4x/4% back or higher. Citi premier is definitely a nice option if you’re using the custom cash for a different category or if the $500 spend cap isn’t enough for you. Is the Premier the card you use for groceries?
