I have that card . I’m using tv and streaming and fast food . I have the shopper rewards card to and am using Walmart and chewy as the high percent cats . Solid card …. ❤️
Even though I’m mainly Team Travel now, I still make use of the Home Utilities and TV/Internet/Streaming categories for a few transactions each month that my other cards don’t have bonus multipliers for. The cash back that I earn nearly wipes out the fee on my CSP, so that’s a win. Great detailed review of the card!
This card is definitely a card that anyone on team cash back or team hybrid should have. I got the card fairly early in my credit card journey and I waited for just over six months from my previous application to apply for this one. I also had a checking account with U.S. Bank, so I think that helped with my approval. This may be a good starter card being that it does have a secured version. It’s also a card that someone may want more than one of. I use mine for utilities and cable/internet/streaming services most often. I have used it for fast food and cell phone providers in the past. When I first got it, I used it for gas in the 2% category because at that time I didn’t have a dedicated gas card. Now, my Citi Custom Cash usually serves as my gas card. I feel that this card is underrated mainly because of how difficult it can be to get. U.S. Bank also did give me a generous credit line of $15,200 when I got it, which is currently the highest credit limit I have on any of my cards.
Best US Bank review out there! I agree it’s a very underrated card. I’ve had it for a while, I’ve used the US Bank travel portal with no issues. I also have an Elan card from a local bank! Great card, great video!
i applied for the elan card almost a week ago but i didn't get it. it's not official yet that i didn't get it. but you could tell that i didn't because when i applied online it said we'll notify you in the mail in 7 to 10 days. first card i was declined for in a few years. my credit scores are through the roof.
The problem is that US bank is not very opened minded to new customers and even with amazing credit score and good history they refuse for dumb reasons
Great card to consider Josh! This is definitely an underrated card by US Bank! Good to know that the points expire, and that there's a $25 min redemption for statement credit. Gotta earn and burn with this cash-back card!
@@joshua.butler yep, one could argue that the secured version is THE CARD that everyone trying to attain credit should get as their first card. Bar none. They wouldnt even care about sign up bonus. Cuz once you set this as for example, your utilities and internet (or wireless) category, on autopay, it quietly builds credit in the background forever earning 5% and with consistent pay, it converts to regular card in a very short time.
Hey Josh, great video! I have a gap in my setup for Utilities and this card seems to be the only one that offers cash back in this category. I am at 5/24 with Chase for a while, but I also want to complete my Hilton trifecta with the Aspire. Trying to decide on which to get first and when?!
US bank is stricter on their approvals. For that reason, I’d personally go for the Cash+ first. I’d want to have 3 to 6 months of no credit card applications before applying.
@@MattMcGrathOfficial Honestly, the Aspire would still be worth it if they got rid of the SUB altogether. Use the $50 each quarter for UA travel bank. The FNA is uncapped (this in itself can justify the annual fee). $100 on-property credit, $400 hilton resort credit which is broken into $200 semi-annually... plus Diamond status which gets you into Hilton executive lounges (complimentary food/drink) among other perks. It's definitely a keeper card assuming you stay at a nice Hilton property at least once per year. With that said, I wouldn't be too concerned with the 180k welcome offer vs the 150k if you aren't ready to get the card yet. Elevated welcome offers come and go... do what makes sense for your current situation.
Good luck with US Bank approvals they're very strict with new accounts in the last 12 months as well as inquiries but their cards are some of the most underrated cards the Cash+ is great and the Altitude Go with its $15 annual streaming credit for a no AF card a work around for using their cards just for a statement credit is to open a US Bank Gold Checking Account its fee free for US Credit Card and loan customers and everytime you hit the $25 transfer it into your US Bank account or have real time rewards setup when you can have them text you and ask if you'd like to use them on a purchase over $10 minimum
Very well made and informative video, Joshua! I do have a question on the _alternative cash back credit card_ (abbreviated ACBCC). If a person banks with two financial institutions as listed above by Dr. of Credit (e. g. Centricity Credit Union and CCF Bank both located Minnesota) and applies for their ACBCC separately, would the institutions issue the ACBCC to the customer-thereby enabling the customer to have _two_ of the same ACBCC, or would the customer only be allowed to apply for the ACBCC at one institution listed above? Thank you.
While applying do they do soft pull or hard pull of credit score? I didn't see an option for pre-approval process? And whats the ideal credit score they look for like - 750+ ??? Mine is just 720. :-(
It was a hard pull for me. There's no online preapproval tool for US Bank that I'm aware of. I've seen data points of people getting approved with a 700+, but it'll depend on your individual credit profile.
I've seen quite a few data points of people being able to get a second. I haven't personally tried to get a second, but others have had luck getting a second card a few different ways. You can try applying directly for the second card, applying through a preapproval e-mail or mailer, or you can potentially product change into a second Cash+ from another US Bank card. Having four 5% cash back categories would definitely be sweet.
You'll want to have good to excellent credit. US Bank is also very sensitive to hard inquiries...if I were applying for a US Bank card, I'd personally want to have no inquiries within the past 6 months.
Score was just under 800. Inquires: 4 Experian (This is what US Bank pulled for me) 0/30 1/6 3/12 4/24. Income was somewhere around 160 - 180k. I had around 12 personal cards at the time. Utilization was likely low (probably under 10%). No relationship with US Bank. This is the only product I've ever had from US Bank.
Hi Josh, I know you did mention cell phone providers in 5% category but will this apply for monthly tmobile phone plans or just cell phone purchases? The category says services when i make the payment via my other credit card.
It's such a nice card! Hard to beat 5% back. Just remember to activate your categories each quarter. I don't have any referral links for this card, but thanks for asking! If I DO have a referral link for a card, it'll typically be linked down in the description below the video or at joshuabutler.me
Do you have this card? If so, which categories do you use? 🤑

Got my girlfriend this card because she was in charge of home utilities! Great card that everyone should have! Great Video Josh!

Hey thanks! Yeah, I learn toward team travel, but I use cash back cards for 5% on utilities, gas & gym.
It’s really a shame that this card gives back 5% at Apple Store while the actual Apple Card only gives 3% 😠.
Crazy, right???
@@joshua.butler Maybe whoever takes over the Apple Card will up it to 5% 🤷♂️ 😂
