good times. yes.....good memories. I always wish this airport was better for planespotting though. gotta say that i like the current paint jobs for many of the international birds better but i miss the old battleship UAL.
UAL's (and Continental's) liveries were all nice. I'd rank them: "Battleship" "Rising Blue" "Continental globe while operated by Continental" "Mainliner" "Rainbow" "Continental globe while operated by United" (it just isn't the same without the serif font) "Friend Ship"
Thank you for the video. Love watching the poetry in motion. Is it me or am i seeing the landings back then a lot smoother than todays landings. seems like today the planes sort of slam into the ground and let the landing gears to absorb the shock.. That United DC-10 was incredibly smooth .. You could have held a tray of drinks filled right to the top and not even spill a drop ..amazing..
gray livery was from 1993 onwards, and in 2004, they started the tulip livery. It can take almost ten years for all planes to be repainted. I even see a few Spirit planes in the gray livery even today.
Sabena was always one of my favorite international airlines that flew into Chicago. Those old American Airlines liveries looked like the Amtrak of the skies. Cool video
As A Chicago Native......Ahhhh I Get Nostalgia watching These Video Of Ohare Back in 2001 where Runway 4R Was Being Used On The Regular Basis For Landings/Arrivals in My Opinion The most Difficult To PlaneSpot At
Royal Jordanian's last L1011-500 left in 1999, so this was from 1990's plus (not that this was the complete vid) but would assume some 777 in the mix by 2001.
TANAY.I REALLY MISS THAT DAYS MY CHILDHOOD ALL PLANES ARE SUPERVE UNITED AIRLINES.AMERICAN AIRLINES VERY NICE AND BOEING 737.200 I MISS THAT AIRCRAFT HUGE SOUND SWEET MEMORIES.
I used to take that flight with the fuel stop in Shannon to get over to see my family in Ireland back when I was in high school. It was right about this time.
Maybe they only just released it in 2001 to name it "2001" after they have been capturing and editing all of these classic videos over the last several years including the early 1990's, etc.
Pretty sure there were. I mean they still had the battleship livery until 2012, and the tulip livery began to takeoff in 2004 and then the merger livery in 2011. They did have TWA and the United 727s in 2001.
I remember the old 90's version of O'Hare everything has changed from a 90's circa feel to a 21st-century hip and trendy feel at O'Hare Airport some things from the 90's are still there but alot has changed and will change
@@_Tommmmmm_ yeah those 4R Arrivals Were Epic And Awesome..... I remember the final approach being very epic and awesome if youre coming in from the East over the lakefront and then right when you get to Summit Illinois They Make The turn to Runway 4R
Seeing the Old Dark Grey And Navy Blue United Airlines Livery Makes Me Say why did they even change that awesome Livery just like American Airlines Witht the Amtrak Livery

United had the ugliest livery back then. The "tulip" livery was bad, but when they went to the battleship gray/blue, it stunk. Today's livery is actually from Continental....guess the UA folks felt they better leave well enough alone. Their classic red/blue on white from the '60's was the nicest...it would've stood the test of time.
You might be correct... will see if we can find out a more precise filming time.
Growing up in Chicago I still to this day can watch all the action at O'Hare! And it's just as exciting
loved seeing those old birds! the 727s, the L-10s, and seeing pre-battleship grey United!
good times. yes.....good memories.

I'm grateful that people had the foresight to save these wonderful images. Hats of to you my friend, and hello from Chicago! ( ORD. based F/A )
Oh my goodness, just too many memories from when I went to O'hare in 1997! Amazing video! :D

I grew up in Chicago near O'Hare and I remember the orange white and blue United planes go to gray in 1994. Probably filmed the summer of 94.
They had a lot of planes take a while to get repainted. I remember seeing them in the very late 90’s early 2000’s still not battleship gray yet.
gray livery was from 1993 onwards, and in 2004, they started the tulip livery. It can take almost ten years for all planes to be repainted. I even see a few Spirit planes in the gray livery even today.

Wow, the distinctive sounds of the JT8D, no longer heard around the US
When you wrote this comment, the MD-80s were still kicking it.
United’s Tulip Livery and AA’s silver bird Livery were the best!
The Jordanian livery is majestic
It's impressive for sure.
Whoa that Swissair's tail came in close to the ground
Love all the three-holers!
So strange to see the old aeroflot livery on a western airplane.
And it's registered in Ireland.
Great video. I love the vast variety of aircraft seen.
Awesome look into the past!
Once again, great vid.
Hello and thank you, from Chicago.
I love these old videos you get see airlines that aren't around anymore like TWA, & aircraft like the 727 keep them coming
But I love the old liveries
Agreed
Tanay.i like United airlines old one not nowadays United so many United airlines old memories my childhood time days.
The date is way off: From what can tell, this is most likely ~1995.
Yeah, I think the same as well, the mid-late 90s. Perhaps 2001 is when the video was released. If it was 2001, it was definitely pre-9/11.
A lot of 90s VHS compilations on youtube span multiple years. Possibly just means the shots are from 2001.
Aeroflot used 767-300 ei-cke and ei-ckd from 1994 till 1999
The United Express (Air Wisconsin) ATP-146 was a nice turbo-prop commuter. Flew it often b/t PIA-ORD in the mid to late 90s.
"Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind. Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine." Good old stuff here!
4:10 Holy stabilizer trim on that United DC-10 Batman!
Awesome as always! But I think this was made before 2001, you have the old UAL scheme there, not to mention the ATP's. God what awesome memories!
Never realized that the MD-11's were pretty quiet in their day. Great video.

I like seeing the 727s and the 146 at 2:19
This has to at least be in the late 90’S as the Air Canada plane at 2:40 has a star alliance logo on it, which didn’t exist until 1997.

M R actually it was retired back in 1991. However, with many battleship planes, this is 2001

AEROFLOT in O`Hare WOW!
I used to take that flight with the fuel stop in Shannon to get over to see my family in Ireland back when I was in high school. It was right about this time.
That was Aeroflot’s last year at O’hare
What at the difference just 17 years can make!
I wish I was alive for days like this
wow 2001 video looks like the early 90s.... it feels so old. Loving the BA Landor livery, the best livery for BA
Maybe they only just released it in 2001 to name it "2001" after they have been capturing and editing all of these classic videos over the last several years including the early 1990's, etc.
MAU04NC Not really early 90s.. The color scheme on this Swissair MD-11 was changed in 1997 to the one shown in the video.
2000-2002 was like 1999.
Is anyone watching in 2019 and thinking it’s weird to see MD-11 for American?
I miss Battle Ship Gray paint
When United Airlines was still alright
before the merger with Continental, United wasn't nearly as sucky
@@jamesrobbins3566 it even ruined the Continental livery. It looked nice on Continental's planes but the new font ruins it.
Seems like that MD-11 towards the end had a very high nose up attitude at touchdown.
In 2001 there were still UAL planes with the rainbow scheme???
no
seems to be around 1997 or close to it

I always happen to find something owned by Sabena in each of your videos.
the glory old days of air travel
Wow the old united colors brought back some memories!
This can't be 2001, to md it doesn't look like it

this looks more like 1994

This is 1994 or 95
Just before modern liveries and models began to takeoff.
This was more like 94 or 95
Aeroflot's last year in Chicago
I didn’t know that the rainbow livery still existed in ‘01
it didnt
no this can't be 2001,more appearance to be 90's
American stopped flying the 727 in 1994, so no way this video is from 2001.
Wrong. They retired it in 2002.

i disagree the old united airlines liveries were so retro and cool
