    This, to me, isn't top gear, it's chris harris on cars with a bigger budget and that is as close to automotive perfection as it gets.

      you're right, it isn't top gear. This is chris harris on cars absorbed by the bbc, posted on the top gear channel, as chris said himself. The TV show is top gear and this segment doesn't feature on it, hence, the tv show has the bad jokes and the adventure and the 'three blokes' feel.

    I have a real love for Chris Harris.
    The man loves cars above all other things. He's knowledgeable, he's passionate and he's really just a normal bloke. He's probably Top Gear's biggest asset right now. Having been at a filming, he's got so much more of a personality than is shown on the program.

    In Argentina, very few things can be imported without incurring a huge tariff. Pur Sang makes everything for their cars. They have their own foundry, they even make their own tires. This is as close to a 1927 Type 35 as the real thing is. The exception being the roller bearings of the original swapped for longer lasting plain type bearings. All for about 10% of the cars current value ( $3m - $5m).

    • @ToreDL87
      @ToreDL87 4 года назад +1

      Actually you can get them with roller bearings too!
      But most people opt for plain type.

    • @CampagnoloPista
      @CampagnoloPista 2 года назад +1

      @@ToreDL87 Unfortunately because things cannot be imported to Argentina, this quarter million dollar comes with low quality and faulty parts. For example- there is no Bosch ignition switch, it's some crappy made-in-argentina switch that won't last very long. The quality of the radiator hoses - a joke. These PurSang cars are to be AVOIDED unless you want a real headache or plan on investing more time and money to sort out a poorly assembled car.

    The Type 35 is really the beating heart of Bugatti and the Bugatti Type 57 SC is the master piece of art. Personally, I've never cared for the Bugatti Chiron, Veyron, or EB 110 because they all betrayed the spirit of Bugatti, which is light weight, simplicity, but styled elegantly, with lovely straight 8 and 4 cylinder engines. Part of the magnificence is that the engine and radiator are behind the front axle giving it mid front engine handling brilliance as demonstrated in the smooth power slides in the video.

    The Type 35 is easily one of the most beautiful cars ever produced. Even though it was a GP car so the comparison isn't 100% fair, just think, other cars on the road barely scratched 60 mph at the time. Meanwhile the Type 35 and even Duesenberg SJ's and cars of the like were capable of 100+

    Wait, a 2-litre, supercharged... straight-8? That just makes it more amazing. Even if it's just two old 1-litre Polo engines welded together and given the forced inducting of their lives.
    Is that accurate to the original car? And if so ... what kind of power were they even getting from that setup, in the 1920s? Even 150hp would probably be pretty impressive (and with something so lightweight, would still absolutely belt along, like a four-wheeled motorbike), especially given Bentley and others typically putting much, MUCH bigger engines in their racing cars. And it'd kind of add weight to the classic Ettinore quote about "the world's fastest lorry".
    (and, well, if it IS two generic 999cc - or 1043cc? - VW engines plus a meaty charger, squeezing even 200hp out of the replica would be good going ... and more than enough for some pramwheel tyre-squealing taildrifty fun)

      Mark Penrice the only difference between the replicas engine and the original is the replica uses regular crankshaft bearings instead of roller bearings that wear out after 5000 miles, and the originals had around 140 hp which was around 3x the equivalent ford that most people who even had cars had back then, the replica has around 180hp

    Really stopped watching Top Gear when the threesome left. Always been a fan of Chris Harris and now seeing him on this show makes me happy

    Nice replica, just a shame that Chris doesn’t drive it very well. He should have gone to a vintage race track and learned how T35 owners drive - FULL ON!

    4:07 That reminds of Jeremy saying that the Veyron weighs more than most mountains, during the P1 review I think.
