    Wow! brings tears to my eyes. Many years ago (mid 1970's) I pulled my Triumph Spitfire mkiii into the lot of a popular pub in Victoria called the Snug. The only stall open was beside 2 (not one, but 2) Type 35's. My first thought was 'VW' kit until I poked my eyes into the cockpit of the car next to me. It was real. So was the second car. I spent so much time ogling the art that a hotel staffer came out. I explained I'd never seen Mona Lisa in person and here she was with her twin. He told me the cars belonged to a father/son team visiting Victoria from Seattle. Never heard the engines run. But I did kiss a tire. In my opinion this was the most beautiful car ever built.

    Interesting film, thank you. There was no Formula 1 in the 1930s. There was Grand Prix but that had different classes. The Type 35 was a successful car in one of the classes but was more a 20s car not 30s. Blockley Tyres are very modern. Post 2000 I think but they manufacture tyres to be vintage like. The original metal was probably nickel plated, not polished steel. That would just rust. I think the fuel pump was mechanical on the originals? Or pressure from a hand pump? Not sure, am not a Bugatti person. This is a modern replica type 35, not really a tool room copy. But very good replicas. They didn't have alternators back then! I don't mean this as a criticism, I am building a replica of a similar age car myself, but it's not the same as an original. Driving experience though, yes, that should the the same. Who cares how the battery is charged or that the fuel pump is different or that the tyres are modern copies. As long as the feel of it on the road is the same driving it then nothing wrong with a good replica! The owners of originals always look down on us replica owners/builders but if you can replicate the feel without the cost of an original go for it!

      The fuel pump was indeed manual....right under the dash. I saw one in a car show, and the owner showed me the pictures of his car before he had also installed a modern fuel pump.

    There are a couple of modern updates on that vehicle: Radiator electric fan and the Electric starter. It looks great on light green.

    Great presentation of a fantastic recreation. Pur Sang has done a great job and it looks like it would be a thrill to drive. I'm working on building my own car from that era but won't be making my own drivetrain. Subbed.

    I saw a real dingy Type 35 go around the track at Lime Rock Park thirty years ago and was very surprised at how fast the car was and how well it went through corners at speed.

    Blockley tyres is a UK company, but they're manufactured in Indonesia. They're designed to look like vintage 3-stud pattern tyres and are used in VSCC racing in the UK (as are original Bugatti Type 35s).

    Only a few times in my life I have witnessed someone who believes 100% in what they are selling, someone speaking the absolute truth about the qualities, the details, the emotions that a vehicle can evoke from a man! I now desire a Pursang Type 35 Bugatti more than anything in the material world!
    BTW I had a Bugatti fiberglass replica on a VW chassis in the late 70's...I was SEX on 4 wheels! And it was a kitcar! Nothing on the road turned as many heads, made as many drool as a simple kitcar! Imagine what your experience would be in this dream!
    I recall watching a French girl, in a black dress, playing a small harp on her knees at a RenFair when I was 14, I assume the emotions are similar...

    WOW! This is absolutely stunning. I've never seen any Bugatti painted in this color before. Any avid cyclist will tell you this color is Bianchi Celeste. I think the Alfa Romeo 8C is just a little bit better. Thanks.

    What's the front wheel alignment numbers?
    (caster, toe, camber, steering axis inclination/offset, etc)
    With that positive camber other stuff must be strange to get it to handle right!

    A better translation of "pur sang" is thoroughbred.

    • @1258-Eckhart
      @1258-Eckhart 2 месяца назад

      It's actually THE translation, since "pure blood" can only refer to the contents of somebody's blood transfusion.

      "Pur Sang" is literally translated to "Pure Blood", but it's a horse racing term (Ettore Bugatti was a horse breeder) for "Thoroughbred".

    So you have to take off the tailshaft if alternator belt breaks. And cable ties weren't around in 1930s. Trailer queen only driven on Sundays coupla times a year. Too precious to jeopardise investment.
