Lonesome Dave died from his Kidney cancer 7 months after this performance, his wife died later in the year from Cancer she was battling at the same time, it was horrible it drained all there savings and they were broke at the end. Should be in the R&R hall of fame, Dave wrote and sang most of there music , RIP. The Peveretts
@@JayDee25895 Not only a great singer but a great guitarist and perfect trading licks with the one and only Rod Price. They will never be forgotten and the RRHOF is anything but that
Lonesome Dave Peverett, belting out the classic "Slow Ride"........even terminally ill, this legendary Man performed and sang his heart out. Respect on his Name. He died 7 months or so after this performance.
The music gave Dave a purpose to be alive and battle his cancer. It was therapy of the best kind. God rest his soul! Gave us so many rocking songs. Never be another band like this.
I saw these guys in the 70's they were GREAT ! I had a crush on "Lonesome Dave" I miss him. I had Cancer and it takes everything out of ya,and here he is giving us everything ! RIP Dave.
I saw them in 1976 at the Allentown fairgrounds and they rocked sooo loud the sound went through you like electricity. Just Amazing. What a voice lonesome Dave had. RIP
Lonesome Dave was looking really sick by this time. But he still had that voice ! Only Dave could sing SLOWRIDE ! Really miss Lonesome Dave.... Rest in Peace Bluesman ...
I TRULY LOVE FOGHAT!! A band from FLINT MICHIGAN called GRAND FUNK RAILROAD did very similar high energy rock and used vocal harmonies like FOGHAT's. This music will never die as long as true fans of it are still breathing! Today's so-called artists have no friggin clue how to ROCK!
That's two great bands that shaped my musical lifestyle :) I really feel sorry for this generation - they have nothing even remotely close to what we grew up with (oh crap, now I sound like my parents, lol). I never got to see GFR, but Foghat live in '78 is one my favorite memories :)
I saw Foghat in Greensboro, NC in 1980 with Johnny Van Zandt and the Outlaws. Man that was an awesome concert. Foghat was one of my favorite bands then and I'm so glad I got to see them when Dave was still with them. He was an amazing musician and person. RIP Dave !
I have a story about this song that I can remember, it was about 84 or 85, I had my first car, a 70 camero, I went to a party with a girl in a small town and a couple of us met up at this party, the girl I was with ignored me because her old boyfriend was there but he ignored her too. I was drinking and the record player was in the house with a lot of different albums and I was playing the music I liked, I kept playing slow ride for a while and then I was about to leave and I told the girl to get another ride, once I found the highway on ramp, I was good and I went home. My memory comes and goes.
That would be from the LP Foghat Live released in 78 I believe. Are ya ready.........are ya ready to take a..SLOOOOOW....RIIIIIIiiiiiiiiide. Foghat Live Live album by Foghat Recorded May 1977 Foghat Live is a 1977 live album by Foghat. The release is Foghat's best selling album with over two million copies sold, Track listing Side one Fool for the City - 5:31 Home in My Hand" - 4:56 I Just Want to Make Love to You" - 8:36 Side two Road Fever - 5:29 Honey Hush - 5:38 Slow Ride - 8:21
Now this is how to write and perform a tune. It all started off as jam session with the drummer and the bassist, then to write the song as how a long man can have intercoarse with a woman The tune is written to the length approx 9mn +, at the rtyhym and then speeds up. Ah, rock at it's best main reason is my #1 genre.
Here is song one must know the meaning of to understand how did it come about? One the drummer and bassist were just jamming, after enough jamming the band joined in. Rest is history The meaning is about intercourse how long an man can last with a woman, the reason is slow, then at the end speeds up, and is the length it is. Now that is talent to come up with all that and make a hit song about it
If someone could help me out, I'm looking for a version I heard on the radio a week or so, it was live, and through the intro he kept holding the note in "ride".
In a way, i'm glad Lonesome Dave and Rod Price aren't here anymore... So they don't have to hear the shitty music of today. I think they would be disgusted

And this is exactly why it’s been used in so many films……RIP Lonesome Dave and Rod the Bottle now taking it easy on their Slow Ride up above.❤️🎶💯
Dave was sooo sick here..you can see it in his face but you would never know it to hear him play and sing..incredible fortitude from the master.
The music gave Dave a purpose to be alive and battle his cancer. It was therapy of the best kind. God rest his soul! Gave us so many rocking songs. Never be another band like this.

That voice is often imitated but never duplicated!

*****
but when we say it,it's the truth, let's face it, the hardest rock they had in the 50's was elvis
long live classic rock!
if it ain't rock,i gotta roll
***** Elvis was far from the hardest rocker of the 50's. What about Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, etc.
I saw Foghat in Greensboro, NC in 1980 with Johnny Van Zandt and the Outlaws. Man that was an awesome concert. Foghat was one of my favorite bands then and I'm so glad I got to see them when Dave was still with them. He was an amazing musician and person. RIP Dave !
I met Dave before he passed away and what a cool guy..I married the guitar players wife's sister and 18 years later still so happy❤️

My favorite rock song of all time. Love you Dave
Saw them play this at Freddies on Elm St. in Glens Falls, NY in early 90's... Couldn't hear a thing for a week after!! They were awesome.
Yes, very loud but very good. Power rock.

He actually sounds better than back in the day. Maybe sick of singing this song though. Tone sounds better though.
Amanda tompkins dude he was dying. He had pancreatic cancer and died 7 months later so i say he had a reason. Wouldn’t you
