    I think the climate is really important in this kind of gardening.

    Thanks for all of your great help. Do you fertilize at the same frequency for all types of eggplants or is it different for each type. as your videos show. Thank You.

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Год назад

      The frequency is almost same for all vegetables, depending on the fertilizer type it is about every 2-3 weeks. You can follow the instructions on the fertilizers too. Thank you so much for your comment!

    If you don’t mind me asking, what climate zone are you growing in? Seems like an area where you can grow year round

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Год назад +1

      I am in 9b. In most areas, you can grow year round (except if it is freezing), you just need to choose the right plant for the right temperature and conditions. Thank you for visiting!

    Did you need to use heat lamp or LED lamps with the initial seedlings?
    Once you transplant the seedlings to the 4” pot, do you pinch them back to encourage better growth? Your plants looked so nice and strong before you transplanted to permanent pots. Thank you!

      I usually don't use grow lights. I keep my seed tray in a shed like room in my back yard and as soon as they sprout, I move them outside to 4-6 hours of early morning sun. If it is cold outside, keep them in a protected space such as cod frame or a clear storage tote. If night temperature drops below 50F (10C), I bring them inside at nights. And I don't pinch eggplants in general. Normally eggplants grow side shoots and there is no need to pinch them back. The compost that is added to the mix when pricking out is key to help then grow nicely. I hope this answer your questions and thank you so much for your comment!

    I tried to start Pingtung long eggplant seeds this spring but failed. I think cause the seeds are too old. Thanks for sharing the whole growing process~

    So timely! How many plants to grow per person?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Год назад

      The more the better. Plant don't take that much space, I 'd say to grow at least 2 plants. Thank you for the comment!

    The eggplants you harvest at 7:33, weren't overripe? I have harvested some that had the same color as these but mine were green inside and the seeds were mature, is it still edible?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Год назад +1

      It is normal to get fruits with different shades and colors, we use them all in cooking with no issues. But it is totally up to you, you can try few to see if you like the taste. hope this helps and thank you for visiting!

    How tall do your plants get?
    I ask because how many inches are your bamboo stakes?

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  10 месяцев назад

      The stakes are about 32" (80 cm) and the plant grow to about 30" (75cm) tall. Thank you for visiting!

    Do eggplants have suckers like tomatoes

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Год назад +2

      I heard they do, but I don't mind having plants grow more branches. Some may say eggplants need pruning but not for me. More side shoots means more fruits. Thanks for visiting!

    What kind of fertilizer did you use

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  8 месяцев назад +1

      I usually use organic fertilizers: 3-4-4 Gardentone, 3-4-6 Tomato tone. Any tomato fertilizer will work too, just make sure it has calcium in it. I have listed few in my amazon page amzn.to/3ThmhLJ . Thank you for visiting.

    Can I please know where you get your seed trays from???

    • @TowardGarden
      @TowardGarden  Год назад +1

      If you are asking about the white tray, that is from the seed starting kit I got from amazon. It comes in different colors, you just need to add few holes for drainage. I have it listed in my amazon store page here www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-3dd9a3b6/list/2H8KR53H12TWL?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ons_mixed_d . Another great option I use is IKEA Nojig organizer tray (www.ikea.com/us/en/p/nojig-organizer-plastic-beige-50468104/ ) again you need to add few holes. Hope this helps. Happy growing and thank you for visiting.
