I started a garden a couple years ago but only recently started getting serious to learn how to grow vegetables the right way and i find your video's very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to teach the rest of us out here ! I subscribed !
Wow, they look awesome. I have tried a few times in grow bags, with no success. I pretty sure its the Texas heat. I've just done green onions. I'll have to try again.
For hot areas (same as mine) you just need to start very early. Late fall is the best time. Hope you have a better result next time and thank you so much for your comment!😊
I have tried growing vegetables and grow bags and it doesn't work for me so perhaps that's the problem just continue to grow in regular containers or raised beds
@@miztri The main difference with grow bags is that they loose moisture more often and need more watering. Hope you will have abetter results with pots.
why did I think onions would be so hard to grow before now? thanks for the video, the onions look amazing haha! I just started gardening this year and already I have learned so much just by doing. I can't wait to start things from seed next year. I actually really appreciate this style of video - no voice overs, just visually learning and with captions! :)
I failed to grow onions for 2 years. Felt like an onion murderer. This year magically, all methods worked. I just wish I had planted more. My secret? Start zero indoors. They did much better direct seeded way before I planted anything else. Both seeds and starts.
Thannk you! Bought some grown from seed at local nursey and had to separate them out and was worried about replanting depth. Appreciate the close up views. Seems i did ok so far. Great tip about loosening the soil later on.
Wonderful! Onions are one of those plants that roots are not picky on transplanting. Wishing you a great harvest. Happy growing and thank you so much foe the comment!😊
Oh wow! I have to downsize my garden this year and told myself I wasn't growing onions.😒 Those onions look so good, and I have those seeds. What to do? 🤔 You bet I'm dropping onion seeds manana! I'll just add a grow bag or 2 to the space.😄 Great video...as usual!👍 Happy 2024!🎉
😄 same here, more and more plants you just can't resist, and somehow you find room in your garden to things to grow. Happy and fruitful 2024 to you as well🥳💚
🇨🇦I’m on a farm and have a very fertile garden soil. I have topsoil mixed with cattle manure. In fact last test all the nutrients were on the high side. I’m guessing I can get away with no additional fertilizer. I’m enjoying your videos very much especially the sound of those roots letting go near the end 😊
In in San Antonio Texas I think that’s zone 8b or 9a do you know how many hours of sunlight I give that And when I do do I just bring them inside until the next day?
If you are asking about the seedlings, 4-6 hours of early morning sunlight will work. Only if night temperatures drop below 40-45F, bring them inside at night, otherwise they will be ok. Happy growing and thank you for visiting!
I will try to do a video on sweet potatoes too. If you mean 15 gallon grow bags, plants slips 8"to10" apart, so about 5-6 slips per 15 gallon bag. Wider spacing will produce larger potatoes. happy growing and thank you for visiting.
I guess you can eat them as spring onion, but the leaves are left to help curing the bulbs. Haven't tried eating them though. Glad you liked the video and thank you for your comment!

I usually use granular 3-4-4 (Garden-tone) . It is slow release and can be applied less frequently. The liquid ones have quicker effect but needs to be applied more frequently (weekly). But both will work. Hope this helps.
Glad you liked the video. I usually start feeding the seedlings when they are few weeks old or have 2-3 true leaves. you can check my video here on how to feed the seedlings ruclips.net/video/AIeiB31yEJw/видео.htmlsi=GdmGFSwJyXK7Mjdu Thank you so much fro your comment!
I jumped into this with pretty much no research and threw the seeds in all Willy-nilly and now I got a bunch in a single little spot and don’t know if I should risk separating them
You can start the seeds in the same way. But I prefer to direct sow spring onions. Also you can have them much closer to each other. I will try to post a video on bunching onion too. Thank you for visiting!

Yes, you are correct. Bending necks is the best sign and I mentioned it in the video. But since I am in a hot summer zone, this is the best they can grow for me. If I wait longer, they go flowering instead of growing bulbs. Thank you very much for visiting and sharing your knowledge!
For seedlings and newly transplanted plants that is normal since they don't have the strength yet. But for mature ones, there can be many reasons for top leaves to drop early. One of them is wind. Strong winds can cause tops to become weak and fall over. The other reasons are mainly due to fungal or pest disease. Also overwatering can be another cause for them to flop over. If you don't notice any major problem with leaves and the plants, then it is definitely the wind. Protecting them from strong winds and providing some support will help them grow normal. hope this helps and thank you for visiting!
I am not sure how the weather is in your area in Florida, but general rule is to store them in a cool and dry area. Use onion bags or shallow boxes and place them in a well ventilated place such as cellar, pantry, or even a garage (away from direct sunlight and with 65-70% humidity). If it is too humid, place Silica Gel moisture absorber packs around them. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting!
It is better to keep them while drying. If you cut them before bulbs are cured, bacteria and fungi will reach to bulbs and lead to bulb rots. It basically helps to store them longer. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting!
Yes, you could. But you want to start early which maybe too cold for seeds to germinate if planted outdoors directly. But it is doable. Happy growing and thank you for your comment!

I interplant onions throughout my garden to keep the bunnies out. Bunnies don’t like even a faint smell of onions.

Is curing when you laid them flat with the leaves on? When the leaves dry up they can be stored?

Could you just put seeds into the pot without the transplant process?

Demo is good but procedure alongwith material needed must be included so that farmer will get it easily and will try to act accordingly.
