Famously the first to publicly show their hatred of it was Eric Burden doing i believe We Gotta Outta This Place on Top Of The Sex Offenders. He mismouths the words, doesnt move his mouth when he should and makes little effort with guitar handwork. Looking at the drivel they spoon fed "young adults" its little wonder we had such a hard on for The Tube OR tHE yOUNG oNES....
Haha! Uve gotta laugh - "high action, all energy" aren't exactly the words that come to mind when imagining or remembering the early 80s "bored as hell & pissed off" groove epitomised by the likes of FB3, Kim Wilde, Morrissey and so on ;) Nevertheless, brilliance. Shame we seemed unable to smile or laugh, but the pancake make-up and cardboard-sprayed hairdos would have probably not sustained that much exertion I suppose ! Whoa! Making up for those "grim faces" now though, still going out with big hair & eyeliner, got the 27-28" waist, with kids thinking am "buzzing my tits off on drugs", apparently ! It's called Life kids - u really ought try it out ! Youth IS wasted on the young, dammit, but whilst getting older is unavoidable, "growing-up" & "getting old" certainly isn't ;) Peace to everyone just about to hit or passed 50 ! Let's show 'em how it's really done, OK? !
Wow, being a huge Specials fan, this is pretty hard and funny to watch, never seeing it before. I saw Terry Hanging out with Ian Mac a few years ago and now I can see the Bunnymen 80's influence here.
Chorus 1] Doesn't matter what they say In the jealous games people play Our lips are sealed [Chorus 2] Pay no mind to what they say Doesn't matter anyway
I didn't know that, so thanks ... with regard to Jane Wiedlin (I fancied her) when she released Rush Hour in the UK/GB (1988) she looked so much like my ex who I parted from the year previous, so it was bitter sweet in seeing her perform.
God, I feel so bad for these 80’s bands who had to go up and mime their own tunes, when their live versions were literal perfection? I mean, I get why these TOTP shows did it, and how it got some of these fledgling bands instant recognition, but it all seems so trite and plastic?
The logistics, from all the cables, amps, microphones, etc of every band with each act only on for 3.5 mins, just not do-able in the space provided and teenagers dancing/moving from stage to stage I suppose, although Jools Holland managed it with his large studio/fewer acta? and seated audience.
@footbru3764 Terry said they started writing it *together* while on tour, had the melody, tour ended he wrote the lyrics, sent them to Jane and she completed the music. He also said they didn't have an affair and the relationship such as it was wasn't intimate (which is supported by the words in the song) Hey if I was Jane I'd happily let the world think I had a torrid affair with Terry Hall too. But given that he was known for being pathologically honest and sex was by his own words "a touchy subject" for him (being raped as a kid can do that) I'll go with his version.
Terry Hall co-wrote the song and the two bands put it out at almost the same time. members of the Go-Gos did some backup vocals for Terry's previous band, the Specials so he'd known them for a while.
Terry and June Miles Kingston on vocals…… yes, Terry & June
very talented lady could play drums sing and bloody stunning looking....................
RIP Terry. A true legend and god bless you.
That time Terry smiled at an Alastair Pirrie joke....🙏❤️😁🥲 RIP Terry
RIP Terry Hall...can't quite believe you are gone at 63.....adieu

'as Terry lets rip with another high-energy all-action performance' LOL good ol' Terry I love him

RIP Terry Hall you were fantastic
How can a song be fast and slow at the same time! 😂 love this song, and Terry-😘 lovely.
Man, how time flies. Keep rocking up there, Terry.
Never seen anyone look so unenthusiastic about lip-sync
Terry Hall they're not worthy (bbc)
That's just how Terry is.
Same with anytime The Cure were forced to lip-sync on pop shows...utter disdain. :)

This looks like a clip from the film "Awakenings."
"High Energy Performance"

"Our Lips are Synced."

Terry definitely has the Robert Smith thing going on, what?
Or maybe Robert Smith has the Terry Hall thing going on?
Pay no mind to what they say Terry like you normally do❤

In the jealous games people play
Our lips are sealed
[Chorus 2]
Pay no mind to what they say
Doesn't matter anyway
I know the Go, Go's did it first, however....Fun Boy Three did It a lot Better!.
+David Cummings Terry Hall co-wrote it with Jane Wiedlin
I didn't know that, so thanks ... with regard to Jane Wiedlin (I fancied her) when she released Rush Hour in the UK/GB (1988) she looked so much like my ex who I parted from the year previous, so it was bitter sweet in seeing her perform.
The original is better than the gogo's.
Beauty.
He can seal those lips on mine 💝

terry hall and jane wieldin were having an affair during a tour in America ...This was the song they wrote together
@footbru3764 Terry said they started writing it *together* while on tour, had the melody, tour ended he wrote the lyrics, sent them to Jane and she completed the music. @@sunny70299 Hi Thanks for a great write up about the song ...and further explanation to the understanding and meaning ...
Fab!!
Rip Terry.
Is that Alanah Currie (Thomson Twins) I spy on percussion?
i saw her too
Thanks for posting!
I can't decide whether I prefer this or the Go Gos version. I love them both equally.
On come on, the Fun Boys Three production on this is so much better.
RIP Terry 💔
Like you wanted to die
Like dead...no
High energy??
Que desanimado Terry...
Can i borrow some Heroin
GoddeSS God BleSS Ii WormHolT GeeZerGod TerrY
ThanKs And LoVe Thor The MaGicKal MuSicK
Terry's lovesong to Jane Wiedlin. Great Terry's lyrics with which we can identify
Looks like he’d rather be at the local footy downing a couple of frothies
No mention of the woman sharing lead vocals...
I think it was August when this came out in 83
Our lips dont move. Anymore.
The presenter says it's their latest song - it is not their latest, it is their first song.
Huh? This performance was almost two years into their career. Their first single was 1981.
'Lunatics' was their first single
Who's on Bass, and cello??
Alex the seal
I hear the snare drum I just don't see it.
love your comment - june miles Kingston sat there was the drummer so no drummer that time -she was vocals :)
This performance was the best - so anti-Belinda Carlisle jumping around through the whole song.
I was there!
Actually i wasn't. I was at home. I was about 4.
AGE IS NO EXCUSE!
Go gos version was better
Horrivel. Parece videoke. Com as minas do THE GO-GO'S, muito melhor
Sad go goes should of sued them...they took a classic and turned into shit...
The song was co-written by Jane Wiedlin and Terry Hall so suing?? 😂
Typical USA Idiot 🙄
Terry Hall co-wrote the song and the two bands put it out at almost the same time. members of the Go-Gos did some backup vocals for Terry's previous band, the Specials so he'd known them for a while.
Terry was the much better talent when he co wrote this with them and they were happy to both release this song together,,
So you can get sued , hehehe
This is just as good as the go-go's
It should be, Terry co wrote the song
Better actually, it really captures the secretive spirit of the song.
This isj just as good as the go-go'
