    Sheriff, this may be your best video ever, and probably the best video on 109 tactics for IL2 on youtube. I really liked it, especially the anti-Tempest stuff.

      of course, but in some situations or against certain aircraft this is more important.

    Very helpful video, probably my fav 109 in game currently. Good for using against p47s with wingmen tactic and 30mm

    Thanks for making these, I like to consider multiple sources to get a better understanding of the different factors at play in (online) aerial combat and your videos are great for that, especially because of your explanations and interpretations. When your schedule allows it, I'd be interested to see a video about the typical confrontations of the G-14 vs. the VVS aircrafts. As you say, I can imagine there wouldn't be large surprises, but as said, hearing your reasoning about the different situations helps me in getting a better grasp of the bigger picture.

    Thank you very much for your very comprehensive and well made videos Sheriff!
    It is such a great way to learn about the relative performance of different aircraft.
    Also: I *completely* lost sight of you after that stall of mine :D

    Top work sheriff! I'm just getting started with IL-2, so finding my feet with the Bf-109 F-4 first and then moving onto the later models. I realise these videos are very time consuming to make, but for people just getting started but are eager to learn they've truly invaluable. Have you considered doing a similar series for the Fw-190 Dora? It's got quite a different aerodynamic profile to the Antons so it would be interesting to see what you have to say on it :).

    Thanks, you did a very good job. I ve been always very into historic aviation times n both WW. I always thought, that the BF 109 has been totally inferior to the allied aircrafts at the last 2 years of the war. But now I understand, that 109 pilots had chances to fight them. The average survival time of Luftwaffe fighterpilots in battle has been 3 month. And they knew that fact at this time.

    I was wondering if you could maybe make a Video on Trimming. What are the general rules? When and how should you trim to gain an andvantage in a dogfight or a chase on the deck? A lot of allied planes also offer rudder and aileron trim. Should these be used?

    Great video, thanks.
    I have to say, I never understood the "130/150 octane" thing with Spitfires.
    If I remember correctly, I read that the octane number runs from 0 to 100, so anything above that wouldn't make sense, just like percentage numbers over 100 make no sense.
    Also, having a high octane number means the fuel causes less knock. It doesn't really increase engine power. High octane numbers protect the engine, but can even reduce the power output, so this "This is a high octane Spitfire, so it has more power!" explanation you always hear from Spitfire fans, doesn't seem to make sense either.
    In War Thunder, the German 13mm guns are absolutely useless, at least they were when I still played the game back in the day. You could empty all your 13mm ammo into a enemy fighter and do nothing to it.
    Even the 20mm and 30mm were underwhelming.
    The strange thing was, American .50cal were absolutely devastating at the same time. They just had to fly by near your plane and your engine would die and they were great for killing pillboxes and other fortified ground targets.
    That made the German 13mm being so anemic all the more infuriating and unfair.
    Apologists said that .50cal had higher muzzle velocity than German 13mm, as if that would explain it. First of all, people often make the mistake of looking at modern .50cal ammo and assuming the ammo they used in WW2 had the same stats, which it didn't, but more importantly, 13mm was a little slower, but had a considerably higher projectile mass, so the energy delivered to the target should at least have been the same, if not higher for 13mm, at least within the ranges at which fighter planes were shooting at each other.
    Sorry, this is still a sore wound, hehe.
    Just wanting to say that I am glad that this game is more realistic in that regard.

      50 cals are a little underperforming in this game at the moment.

    • @SheriffsSimShack
      @SheriffsSimShack  3 года назад +5

      _*I have to say, I never understood the "130/150 octane" thing with spitfires"_
      octane can go above 100 and indicates the knock resistance of the fuel. Meaning that you can combust the fuel at higher pressures, which in turn means more power. More power means more speed/climb rate.
      So you are wrong.

    • @achiraboonrath1710
      @achiraboonrath1710 3 года назад +2

      Higher octane fuel gives IC engines better knock resistance, therefore allowing higher boost pressure to be used. More boost means more power. Check out Greg’s Airplanes and Automobiles if you’re interested in the topic.
      As for the 13mm in WT, I would say it’s adequate right now, not as good as US .50 cals but still gets the job done. Also, I feel like 20mm in WT is even better than the IL2 counterpart; one burst from a single mg151 in WT will usually bring down any plane that isn’t a heavy bomber, while I feel like that is not always the case in IL2.

    • @Lemard77
      @Lemard77 3 года назад +2

      The 100 octane rating means it has the same anti knock performance as if the fuel was composed of pure iso-octane. However these 130 and 150 fuels have *more* anti knock performance than pure iso-octane, because of having heavy quantities of lead and aromatic compounds.
      The fuel alone doesn't bring higher performance, having this better fuel allows the engine to be run at higher settings with a smaller risk of premature detonation, and this is what's happening in game when you equip the higher octane modification.

    Danke meine freunde.
    Your advice I used in Androids World War II Game Called "Gunship Sequel WW2".
    The Spitfires easily catch me in flat horizontal race, and dodge my guns using YoYo or Rolling Scissors, they'll catch me.
    I subscribed to your channel after watching this video.
    Any advice for evasive BF109 E - K models against English and Soviet planes in game #GunshipSequelWW2 ? Danke
