Everything below is for the omnissiah. But like, you can read it if you want. Just a synopsis of the video you're watching.
The story begins with the Ullanor Campaign, a massive military operation during the Great Crusade. The Emperor of Mankind and his Primarchs, including Horus, led the Imperial forces against the Ork empire of Overlord Urlakk Urg. This campaign was pivotal, as it marked one of the largest and most crucial victories for the Imperium. The defeat of the Orks on Ullanor was celebrated with the Ullanor Triumph, during which the Emperor declared Horus as Warmaster, setting the stage for future events in the galaxy.
The War of the Beast was a devastating conflict, during this period, an Ork Warlord, known as The Beast, rose to power, leading a Waaagh! of unprecedented scale and ferocity. With Ullanor as the heart of this massive Ork empire. The rediscovery of Ullanor, now transformed into a world of industry and war under Ork dominion, was a symbolic and strategic blow to the Imperium.
The First War for Armageddon erupted millennia later, during the 41st Millennium. This conflict was sparked by the return of the daemon Primarch Angron and his World Eaters. Seeking to conquer Armageddon, Angron led a daemonic invasion that brought chaos and destruction. The Space Wolves, led by Logan Grimnar, alongside elements of the Grey Knights, confronted the chaos forces in a brutal and bloody conflict. The war ended with the banishment of Angron, but not without immense loss and devastation.
The Second War for Armageddon saw the return of the Orks, led by the infamous warlord Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka. In 941.M41, Ghazghkull launched a massive Waaagh! against Armageddon, overwhelming the planet's defenses. The war was characterized by brutal city fights, large-scale tank battles, and the resilience of Armageddon's defenders. Commissar Yarrick emerged as a hero, his legendary determination and leadership inspiring the Imperial forces. Despite heavy losses, the combined efforts of the Imperial Guard, Space Marines, and local militias eventually repelled the Ork invasion, but the threat was far from over.
The Third War for Armageddon began in 998.M41, with Ghazghkull returning to Armageddon, this time with an even larger Ork horde. The conflict quickly escalated into one of the largest wars in Imperial history. The warzones were marked by intense battles, including the defense of Hive Acheron and the struggle for Hive Helsreach. Notable participants included the Black Templars, led by High Marshal Helbrecht, and the Salamanders, under Captain Tu'Shan. The war also saw the return of Commissar Yarrick, now a living legend. Despite the relentless Ork assault, the Imperial forces managed to hold their ground, but the war remains ongoing, with no clear end in sight.
The wars of Armageddon have left an indelible mark on the history of the Imperium. The planet remains a symbol of resilience and determination, with each conflict bringing forth heroes and legends. The repeated invasions have turned Armageddon into a fortress world, its people hardened by constant warfare. The lessons learned from these wars have influenced Imperial strategy and doctrine, emphasizing the importance of unity and the relentless fight against the enemies of mankind.
Throughout these wars, several key battles and figures have stood out. The defense of Hive Helsreach by the Black Templars, the tank battles in the ash wastes, and the leadership of figures like Commissar Yarrick and High Marshal Helbrecht have become legendary. The conflicts have also highlighted the importance of the Adeptus Astartes, the Imperial Guard, and the local militias, each playing crucial roles in the defense of Armageddon.

All i can tell you for certain is that some number of people are dying on Armageddon right now and will continue doing that for the forseeable future. Anyone we send down there to get a more accurate count than that keep getting gibbed before they even see the ground let alone touch it. Its Arma-god-damn-geddon! just assume that everything is fucked untill further notice."

Legal fun fact: the original phrase is by Blackstone, a famous jurist "Better 10 guilty men go free than one innocent person suffer". It's called Blackstone's ratio or formulation. In typical 40k fashion, it's inverted and taken to the absolute opposite extreme! Almost as good as Inquisitor Kamarazov's phrase: "There is no such thing as a plea of innocence in my court, a plea of innocence is guilty of wasting my time. Guilty."

Given how attached to it they are i wouldn't be surprised if it was their original home world and thats why the Necrons occupied it and the Eldar stay a looooong way away from it.
@@riverraven7359Armageddon is canonically Ullanor. After Emps and Horus cleansed it during the crusade, the Mechanicus nicked it using a teleporter, stuck it in a new system and re-named it. So Armageddon is literally the Ork homeworld.

@@riverraven7359 it was technically described as the homeworld, but that was around the time that the second edition Ork codex was released as far as I can remember.( It could easily have just been in a White Dwarf article around that time tbh).

I remember to this day one of my earliest exposures to 40k... I found files onlide for an old board game about First War for Armageddon. One side supposed to play as Imperials, another as orks. Each unit had stats, like Attack, Toughness, Initiative etc. If I remember correctly, you could play it standalone, or use as a visual guide for a campaign set on Armageddon. I remember, how idea of Orks with guns and vehicles blew my mind. Thank you for bringing those memories back!

My theory for eldar involvement is that the one dude who's playing four-dimensional chess with the future orchestrated all of it as this giant resource sink for every other faction to pour their attention into.

The commissariate has to have a standing policy of refusing to shoot guardsmen slated for Armageddon specifically for this reason. 😂

Armageddon is where GW started foreshadowing the necrons. The tau didn't exist until much later. And Tyranids were originally on the other side of the galaxy until GW decided to hit pause on ever continuing the storyline by having the Orks and Tyranids fight to a standstill while they figured out what to do next....😢😢

I remember playing in the 2000s "Armageddon campaign" . You would play your game and turn your results in and the store you play in would submit those and there was a live online map that would show you how the war was going. And the different regions of our world were the different battlegrounds of Armageddon. I might still have pictures of that map. But it was a reallllly cool event to see how your games would impact 40k lore. Great times!

Another thing that Koda forgot to mention, Armageddon had a LOT of decently sized STCs back when it was Ullanor, meaning that Man's Infrastructure on the planet, during the DAoT, was REALLY built up, adding another mass graveyard counter to said planet.

I do feel like their's a missed opportunity with the Grey Knights to have option F of seeing them being servitude to them until death. Someone's gotta clean the toilets, cook the meals and polish that armor, not to mention soften the beaches of have a deamon stuffed in them for practice. Just saying if y'all saved me for Chaos I'd feel like I owe you, and it wouldn't be until at least unspeakable assignment number 3 that I'd realize death was in fact the better option.

Voting for Crisis Suits and the Sautek Dynasty. Also, mentioning a bedroom containing a swing can cause Isyander to momentarily glitch? That could come in handy during a tabletop battle when an opponent needs to distract him.
