Great tips, Kyra! As for reusable cotton pads and similar items (like reusable makeup sponges), I would actually recommend going for lighter colors. I know it's not cute to see the stains, but with black it's harder to notice if they're actually clean or have grown mold. For example, I try to always wash my reusable pads/sponges after every use, but sometimes I have washed them at night, and when I wake up they haven't fully dried, especially when the weather is very humid. I would also recommend to stock up on items whenever you can, especially those that tend to increase in prices regularly and can last for a longer time, like canned food or hygiene items. And it's also useful to have inflation rates in mind when budgeting for the following months. Last year, inflation in my country was 234%, and that's the lowest it has been in the last 4-5 years, so yeah, I've been struggling with that for a long time.

It’s called vampire energy when you keep things plugged in. I used to unplug everything but the fridge when I was struggling, now I still only plug in the washer and dryer when I use them. And I try to just air dry my clothes and pop them in the dryer for the last 10 minutes to soften.

My fav reusable items: quality water bottle, dryer balls, period panties & menstrual cup, bidet & cloth to wipe the water (literally I don't use TP anymore), silicone baking sheets/cupcake holders/bags/can or pot covers, also got a reusable duster, and I will vacuum or clean Air filters or air purifier filters before buying new ones. Honestly, I also will clean & repurpose tin cans of usually tuna or mushrooms & turn them into propagation cans or water containers for my plants to drink from the bottom.
I also now use my coffee grounds twice, then put them into empty containers until they're full, & try to add some to my plants, or into compost. I've taken several large coffee containers & created "compost bins" out of them, to live on our apartment balcony.
We also have been moving to reusable containers then refill them for things like laundry detergent, cleaners, etc.
I love your tips, we do some of the same. When my hubby works, we plan for him to pick up groceries and/or meds on his way home to save on gas (we'll order online like tree might before with a pick up time, then they'll bring it all out to the car at the designated parking spot - it really helps with anxiety, & keeps us from impulse buys). For groceries, we try to really use coupons & buy things on sale, then make sure we actually eat all of it.
One tip - we save our coins (if we're using cash), & we use a thing called Acorns to set aside money into investing. Just have it auto pull like $5+ when you say to, & also it can round up your purchases then take that extra cash put into your portfolio. Hubby & I each have one where we can pull money out, for like emergencies, & 1 for retirement. I also set up 1 for my 2yr old niece that she can't touch until she's 18 or so. Just knowing we have it there, collecting miniature cash & investing for us has taken a lot of stress off our minds as money gets tighter. It's our backup.

@KyraAnn. I stock up on rice, different types of beans, some cans, teas, food I eat regularly 🙂 and things like cleaning products. Regarding fresh produce, I freeze vegetables. I chop the vegetables and put them in the freezer for a night in a hermetic container, then store them in plastic bags. Most vegetables can be frozen and used to cook, except green leaves, potatoes... This also saves time 😉

Thank you for doing this video! I’ve been watching your content for a while now and appreciate all of your minimalist tips after I fell off the lifestyle bandwagon accidentally during the pandemic when people were panic buying. Working back towards simplifying again right now during inflation and living with non-minimalist parents, so thank you for the re-inspiration! I’m happier this second time around of going minimal because it feels balanced, not deprived or getting rid of too much. The first experience was like yours, in that I went too deep too fast and regretted it. Your content reminds us we can always try again, so cheers!

I am a trip planner too, I hate it when my husband and I go out and he drives around randomly wasting time and gas. One good thing is the small grocery store we have on his way home from work so at least we save that way, he picks up little things on his way home if we need it. You should try threading yourself. I learned it off youtube and it's easy and cheap. I wish I had your brain, I have my drawers and closet filled with clothes plus about 4 or 5 big rubbermaid bins in the basement filled with summer and winter clothes. Every time I try to go through it I remember the way something looks on me and I can't get rid of it ( even if I haven't worn it in a year or more and probably won't in the next year) I would love to have a minimalist wardrobe but my brain won't let me lol. I also work from home and while I do actually dress every day, even more reason I don't need 90% of the clothes I have. One bonus is my daughters fit in the same size as me right now so at least I can say my clothes are for 3 of us instead of just me.

When we bought our first house our credit union matched us to a certain amount that we saved for a firm payment and we also applied and got a couple grants that helped too, you should look into whoever you bank with and see if they have a money match program.

I was able to save money because I moved two hours away from everyone I know. I don't have dinner with friends or family. I don't have time to travel to the city. Yes I get very lonely but as I get older it's not that bad. Not only that, with my very close ride or die friends I can just have a video chat for hours and it's like we hung out without spending money as we eat, clean our homes together and we've even watched movies while being on a video chat. I've avoided spending minimum $300 a month
I agree with the Thanksgiving and Black Friday situation as well as the true history of it. So I get it! - I've avoided spending minimum $500 doing this for thanksgiving.
Gift giving holidays were purposely created by businesses, gift giving I've cut off as well and I only give birthday small gifts to my primary household and best friend. I am the one from work that doesn't participate with pitching in for monetary gifts because $20 per person per birthday adds up especially if there is five birthdays in one month. I've avoided spending at least $2,000 a year by not participating with holidays or everyone's birthday.
