BRAVO!!!! The best tip I ever got was " Stop spending money you don't have to buy things you don't need to impress people you don't know"

Let's be honest. A gorgeous young lady like you could shill all the latest cosmetics and clothing and have millions of subscribers and all the money and swag that goes with it. Thank You for staying true to yourself and inspiring people, especially young people, to live a better life Kyra. Well done!

Nobody should be offended by that last tip. It’s just the reality!! If anyone does feel “attacked” it’s because they’re still in the denial phase. In my opinion lol

You would be surprised on the amount of comments I get saying "OMG you shouldn't say things like that, someone can take it the wrong the way". It's an ongoing battle on always watching when I say because you never know who you MIGHT offend.

How??? Do you really get people coming at you for possibly, potentially, maybe offending somebody else like not themselves but somebody else? You have much better patience than I for trying to be sensitive to everyone’s thin skin.

Lifestyle creep is something else! When I joined the military I spent money like crazy- the typical path of someone who comes from poverty finally getting a little money. It’s hard denying myself things I feel like I deserve since as a child and teen I had to go without. Wearing hand me down that don’t fit, missing meals, etc. I’m still struggling with it.

I remember being 19 working in NYC and getting a raise. I thought I was hot 💩 all of a sudden. I went from shopping at store like Forever 21 and Joyce Leslie to gettin store credit cards at Victoria’s Secret, Express, and Macy’s. I spend 6 years cleaning up my credit. What a nightmare. I don’t know why people say they don’t have regrets. That’s a HUGE regret! I wish I had ANYBODY telling me to make better choices, but I was embarrassingly ignorant about money. No longer, thank God!

Yea it's hard to look back and say "I wish someone would've told me this." Because in my case 20 something year old Kyra would not have listened to 30 something year old Kyra, my younger self would basically call me crazy lol. Sometimes we need to learn the hard in order to actually learn the lesson.

Yay I’m so early! Had a raise recently and determined to try and lower my expenses rather than raise them 😊 one thing I have started doing though now I can afford it is buying in bulk - stuff like rice, pasta, etc is waaaay cheaper to bulk buy if you can and it lasts months! Xx

I was a spender, shopping was an entertainment for me and during 20 years I had 0 money in my savings. Now I am a different person. I buy things only when I need them. This year I still don't splurge on myself. I adopted a cat in July and I consider his needs as mine , so I don't need anything anymore 😆😹

I had a co-worker who would brag about having a lot of clothes and shoes, but would ask people to borrow money for gas halfway through the month. One day I finally suggested that she sell some shoes lol. She just laughed....

Haha I also had a coworker that would go shopping every time we were on break and buy things she truly didn't need. I always wondered WHY did she shop so much and how was she not worried about money like the rest of us at that job. Our pay wage was beyond embarrassing so I always wondered how was she able to afford a big house, fancy car, kids and still manage to go shopping everyday for decor items, clothes, shoes and much more. To each their own I guess, you did the right thing though my suggesting her to sell some of her stuff. Heck that's how I was able to get some money back back in the day from my mistakes.

This was excellent info. I have to admit that I am in a terrible place right now, with some debt to pay off from shopping… And I have a long way to go. But better now then continuing the way I’ve been going. I really like thrift shopping, and even though it hasn’t gotten too much more expensive in my area, it really does add up extraordinarily. It’s quite alarming really. So a trick. I am starting right now is to pay myself first. The first thing I do after ensuring that my bills are paid is Put money into savings. And I’ve made that savings account. Difficult to withdraw from. This way, I am not seeing money to spend but money I need to make last I’ve also started reading more. When I feel like shopping, I play with my own clothes in my closet. Some thing else that I have done is, take out everything from my closet, lay it out, and make two or three different capsules out of the large quantity of clothing I have. Hang only one set and put the rest away. When I feel like I need something new and I want to shop, I go through my bins! This has the same exact effect psychologically… It’s incredible. And I have spent zero dollars.

Love your videos!!! For my situation, I find it helpful to treat savings like a bill and have it automated,if possible. Every month money is automatically transferred to my savings. I set my retirement plan so it deducts based on percentage vs a fixed amount. That way when I get a raise I also increase what gets put away without having to think about it. A lot of my extra money goes to travel, so I make sure I have I put aside money every month that way when do decide to go on a trip I don’t have to dip into my savings or fund it using credit.
I totally agree that having a goal is important. It makes you more intentional and it serves as a measuring stick of your progress.

I think some ppl fail to factor in the extra expense such as premium gas when owning a luxury vehicle. It all adds up quickly. And you could easily damage the engine etc by trying to go the cheap route & get reg unleaded. Those repairs are very costly.

I'm embarrassed that I spend $85/month on my cat. I've gone over his expenses so many times and there's nothing I'm willing to compromise. I'm curious what other people spend per month! ($85 is the average - some months I only spend $40 but then I usually spend $100 the next month)

    • @Kyraann.

Awe I also spend a decent amount of money on my cat but it's things he needs so in that case it's ok. I always stick to the same food for him and one bag of treats every month, as for toys he owns less than 5 toys and most of the time he doesn't play with them :( so I try my best to not even think about new toys for him.

The payments were insane, the maintenance was more insane not to mention it was a V8 :( . Needless to say I could've saved myself thousands of dollars by just fixing the car I already had. You are doing great and I'm so proud of you that you didn't fall into the trap of wanting something flashy.

It's crazy how long black hair takes to fully come out of your hair, my length still has a ton of dye but hopefully it'll be gone by the end of next year. I'm not doing anything special just letting it come out naturally on it's own time. Good luck on your natural hair color journey
