I am the person that makes this tool. I have been at sea working since the video was made and since I can't send items out when I am not in the country I end all the listings for that time. They are currently listed again on eBay, never been able to work out links but if you search drop arm compression tool it will show up. It's actually easier to use when the arm is in place on the vehicle as it all hangs in place, there are instructions with it which would have helped a bit but who reads instructions!. One thing though Mike cleaned the arm up well, if you are doing it on the vehicle that's not so easy an important bit to clean is the groove where the circlip fits, there will often be a bit of build between where the to ends of the circlip were, you just know it will be in the wrong place when you try and refit the circlip so have a scrape around with a bit of wire or scribe tool to make sure it is clean. On my vehicle the lip which holds the boot was in poor condition which is why I made the top plate to bear on the arm not the lip and I have just kept that design as it covers all options.
I have to say that tool is pretty ingenious. I like how the circle clip gets captured on the post.
How many of those have we lost in the grass/gravel? Lol!
@@BritannicaRestorations Too many to count! I actually found one in the garage about 20 feet from where got away from me! I have no idea how it traveled so far and yea, I found it by accident.
A nice bit of kit.
Looks like Sean will be busy making more of them.
I hope he sees the video and gets back to me!
Nice tool, but when i did my seals on the steering box i could not get the arm off, even bought that Britool part, but no joy. However after hours of swearing i just bought a new drop arm for peanuts off Amazon and removed the arm with a hacksaw. Yes seriously, took barely 10 minutes of sawing the arm off, close to the shaft spline and opposite the split and bingo, as soon as i had sawn the arm off the remaining sliver of metal cracked under the stress and fell off. Result!😊
Well that completely changes the difficulty level of that job! 👍
As I commented the other week. I did a shortcut by just replacing the boot for now. At least to get through the MOT and not have a split boot anyway.
This kit is just what I would need to do the full job properly.
I hope Sean sees this video so I can get his email details and pricing!
@@BritannicaRestorationsYes, very much so!
Very nice kit and well thought out
It sure is
Great tool which made that job much easier.
I think so too!
Thanks i like it quite a lot ! good on you for showing us !!
Glad you like it!
Thank God I have a Freelander 1 TD4. Completely perfect and reliable. No silly stuff going on in that car whatsoever...nothing breaks or fails.............................................................................🤔😵💫
Good to hear
Think i said last time, that you only had half the tool, now you have it all😂
another brain-wave. thanks for showing us Mike. best wishes, Yorkshire rob.
Very ingenious tool. Wait for where to get it.
Good bit of kit and very well demonstrated, all the best from Billingham..
Cheers!
Looks an excellent tool, lve used the standard shipart one for years but I'll be making one as per Seans design. Thanks for sharing
Any tool that makes life easier is worth it's weight in gold, good stuff I like it a lot.
Yes, I wish Sean had supplied his email details!
@@BritannicaRestorations Hopefully he will get in touch with you soon.
Brilliant, thanks for sharing this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
done this job once before made my one press of sorts with a clamp and a socket worked alright the part that had my neighbor kids learning some new words was putting the new boot on due to some neurological damage I have lost some fine motor control in my hands that only gets worse the more frustrated I get that just turns in to a feed back loop if i don't stop and walk away for a bit to cool off so what should of been a quick part of the job took about 2 hours :)
This tool makes joint replacement a doddle - I did this real time to show how easy it is
Great bit of kit - Hope it becomes available in some form. I have always struggled with the Britpart boot clip which is a circlip idea, and not that user friendly.
You and me both!
That tool saves a lot of aggro.
Saves taking the drag arm off, which is a pain!
@@BritannicaRestorations Very handy!
never had one with a lip to put boot on , even the factory one
I don't know - I have seen quite a few - much better idea
id be interested in buying this kit! be great to know if more can be made.
I have one of these plus other tools by Sean, fantastic kit. worth looking at his shop on ebay.
He didn't leave me any details - where is his shop?
@@BritannicaRestorationsI cannot leave the details for his shop. My posts keep being deleted.
Is there an eBay number you can paste? OR what is the listing heading. I tried but could not find it
@@BritannicaRestorationshe has no items for sale at the moment, he posts items when he has them as he makes them all himself, He makes a great 300tdi crank tool, and lotss of tools for bushes etc. Plus seal tools.
Strange business! Would love to help, but no contact info!
Thank you.. Can you create a detailed video about a Kia Bengo 3 semi-electric diesel pump, white engine?? Thank you very much 🌹
Sorry, no - I only do Land Rovers
@@BritannicaRestorations
Thank you 👍🌹
Desr Mike, we are all getting old. You as well. Filming a spanner instead of the action!?
Next must be wearing a 2nd world war helmet with all that bits and bobs going over the fence
Lol! Least we have a covering of snow today to tidy his yard up!
Not difficult enuf can not be landrover
Could do it with dirt and rust in your eyes…
LoL!
I bought one of these from Sean a few years ago. Great kit.
It sure is!
