- This will be the first time watching the Yu-Gi-Oh Japanese Openings! This was on my recommendations for last year I didn't have the time and now I do it's here. Also just letting you know Yu-Gi-Oh was part of my childhood growing up, I hope you enjoy this reaction!

My man going through the 5 stages of grief while watching the Arc-V openings, like everyone else who loves the concept of the show but hated how it crashed and burned at the end 💀
If it feels like seven and go rush are more kiddy, it’s because they are lol. The original Yugioh studio went bankrupt, so they were forced to hand it over to another studio hence the shift in tone, sevens and go rush are targeted to a younger demographic and are more comedic, the duels in them are also simplified and streamlined because of it, but both are still well written for what they are. If you go into them expecting for it to be the same as the previous seasons you won’t like it as much, I personally enjoyed both as the comedy aspect doesn’t bother me and the characters are still enjoyable, overall it’s still Yugioh just a different take on it for a newer audience. And yes Go Rush is the current season, it was just renewed for a third season due to its popularity in Japan and is the only Yugioh show to be a direct “sequel” to a previous entree.
Wrong. GX was a direct sequel do the OG. Also all the Yu-gi-oh shows up to Vrains are interconnected, you can find lore videos explaining it

@@nexo8580 No no... Zexal, AT FIRST, has no connection, but Arc-V connects everything again. VRAINS is an unknown, it could be set in the future after the ending of Arc-V, or it could be it's own thing. As for Sevens and Go Rush, I have no idea.
The original studio didn't go bankrupt, they just had a falling out with Konami (the owner of the Yugioh IP) which led to the last non-Rush season, Vrains, to be cut short and all anime onward to be done by a different studio.

Fun fact, just in case there's anyone who doesn't know this: Crow is initially intended to be one of Dark Signer members. But due to his popularity among fans, the idea got cancelled and we got what we had now in 5ds.
5ds = 5 dragons. Those dragons are stardust, red archfiend, black rose, power tool, and ancient fairy (this is the initial idea)
And I personally like the idea of Crow being an antagonist tho xD

Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens is a rush duel card game anime different from OCG.
Unlike the more complex OCG, Rush Duel is targeted at a younger age group. So 7th will also be an anime for kids.
However, there are also some nostalgic parts as famous monsters from the early days also appear.
The story was playful, messy, funny, and interesting.
Man, I love the heck out of 5D's, it's what got me back into Yu-Gi-Oh! all those years ago. The JP openings are all bangers, especially those last two ("Believe in Nexus" & "Going My Way") sung by Masaaki Endoh (from JAM Project) and there's also the insert song "Clear Mind" (also by Endoh) that plays when Yusei summons Shooting Star Dragon. I highly recommend you give it a listen, it's so good.

In the latest episodes 95-98 of Go Rush 888 million people just died on screen, plus the main character's rival, so don't you go call it kiddy. Go Rush is a direct sequel to Sevens.
If you gonna rewatch GX and 5Ds then know that the episodes covered in their final openings are not covered by the English dub, and in my opinion they are also the best, so you have to watch season 4 of GX and season 3 of 5Ds subbed as there is no dub for those episodes.

My Top 3 in order and why
5D's (perfect in everything from start to finish)
Zexal (starts off boring, then doesn't stop rising)
Arc-V (starts off insanely well, then starts to fall off)
Suggestion, react to the openings of Inazuma Eleven, I have a feeling you will really like it :)

Personally I love ARC-V, but I understand that it’s definitely not for everyone, to me the ending is still the journey was enjoyable at least to me
- long post warning (sorry i have sevens and go rush brainrot) -
sevens is a bit of a tonal whiplash coming from vrains but both it and go rush are really good, solid entries into the ygo lineup that i think a lot of people missed out on because of the change in artstyle/studio. it's not everyone's cup of tea, that's true, but they have the most consistent and solid casts out of all the spinoffs (that is to say, no characters are forgotten and even one-off duel characters tend to show up to help up at least once more by the end of the show). the main cast of sevens is also one of my personal favourites - they all get their own moments to shine and their own character arcs, none of them are left behind and stay involved in the plot and, most importantly, they all feel like very genuine friends. the plot very obviously got hit because of covid but it's nowhere near some trainwrecks of some previous series. sevens and go rush are also extremely notable for having the best female characters in the franchise not only by virtue of having more than a handful but also having most of them being duelists and also having good character arcs for the ones that show up more consistently. both series are quite pun-heavy but they're genuinely quite funny and go rush in particular can get quite emotional.
go rush, as opposed to sevens, has a bit more of a heavier plot. sevens was more about introducing the world and the game (which makes sense especially when you get to go rush and realise go rush is set in the same universe/timeline) with its main theme being about giving the game of yugioh back to the kids (as yugioh is generally a kids game but by this point it's rather complicated and can be diffiicult for new players to pick up, which isn't good for konami since they want people to keep buying the game). go rush is more about... aliens i guess? space warfare through card games? existentialism? go rush is wild man i don't know what to tell you. lots of ygo-traditional deaths have been happening.
anyway that's to say that sevens and go rush are really quite good, if not for everyone. in my opinion it does work best if you watch both sevens and go rush but my friends have only watched go rush and are following along perfectly fine.
you should check out the second go rush opening even if not as a reaction, it's called 'soul galaxy' and it's by bradio (so even if you won't take my word for it that it's a banger you can at least rely on bradio)

Yeah for arcV it was the first one i was watching subbed weekly. I remember being so hype to see jack again, only to find out he wasn't even out jack.
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's is my favorite Yu-GI-Oh! series. I've been watching Yu-Gi-Oh! up until Yu-GI-Oh! SEVENS came out. After watching like 7 episodes of that, I dropped it and I haven't check Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! yet.
Some of my favorite openings include "WARRIORS" (Yu-Gi-Oh! Dueling Monsters OP4) and "Hyper Drive" (Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's English Opening)

The 3 cards shown in the earlier openings were extremely important. They were the 3 Egyptian god cards. Very powerful.
Honestly I’m still miffed that Vrains had a short of a run as it did. Even though on the surface it felt mid after the disappointment and hype that Arc-V was. It had some of the most mature themes, best duels, and best archetypes in YGO.
Honestly they could’ve had a whole tournament Arc with Sol Technologies being the next antagonists, build up AI’s distrust and disdain for humans and build him into the final boss of Vrains more organically that way

Something interesting I find about Yu-Gi-Oh! is that the anime story and the manga story are completely different after a certain point. Sure they started out about the same being a horror story focusing on any game rather than cards but once they went cards only they eventually they started killing off characters in rather gruesome ways. Once the manga went to GX onwards they kept that tradition with having different storylines. The only anime I know for sure canonto the manga is the Dark Side of Dimensions movie and it's theorized Vrains is manga canon as well since it's the only series without a manga.

When he viewed GX 2 opening was very disappointed he didn't pick the version of the song where it technically debuted on being the Shadow Riders arc which has the better visuals for the opening and fitting the dark tone of the song.

Gx Season 1. Happy go lucky pretty dumb.
Gx Season 2. Cults are weird and plot development
Gx Season 3. Depression and jaden is a canonical war criminal.
Gx Season 4. Jaden is still depressed but is also a badass.
5D's is still my favorite. But overall, though Sevens and Go Rush aren't bad perse, they clearly target a younger audience when compared to prior seasons.
Warriors is my fav theme
I was 15/16 years old when I saw it in Japanese and I’m now 36 years old and still love this song
Opening 4 Warriors is used from the Battle City Finals arc all the way to the Grand Prix arc.
If there's an anime that is the définition of my childhood it's Yu Gi Oh❤❤this anime really has a special place in my heart❤❤and until today I still have my Harpie ladies and Amazone Warriors cards✨✨
Vrains is worth watching. especially for the story. it has the cool vibe 5ds has. AI, hackers, virtual reality. for me the best ones gotta be 5ds, Zexal, then Vrains. Arc v is the worst for sure although i loved a lot about it too
Vrains is worth watching just for AI and Revolver antics. Especially the last stretch for AI since he's essentially the main character for the last stretch.
As for Sevens and Go Rush, they're much more slice of life-y but they have some really hype moments (like Yuga's first summoning of Over Road) though I think Go Rush is stronger than Sevens overall.
The format's a lot more streamlined too, since it uses the Rush Duel format instead of the normal format (always drawing until you have five cards each turn, can summon as many monsters as you want as long as you fit the reqs, etc) and the card designs are a lot better so you don't have design bloat.
Don’t forget the parody cards/archtypes, those were a treat
Yugioh pre-sevens likes to do this thing where the more colorful, happy, and silly the show starts - the more badass it ends off. Sometimes it's a slow build, and for others it's "oops, everyone is dead and protag is sad. Sucks to be him" over the span of life 3 episodes.
For reference, zexal kills off more named, relevant characters in the span of 3 episodes at the start of one of its arcs than bakura and marik killed throughout their entire series... combined (flashbacks included).
My favorite series is a tie between Duel Monsters and Zexal which i used too hate on before i finally decided to watch it and ended up really enjoying it even if it had goofy moments... The characters like Vector with his sadistic and trolling nature and were top tier imo and the final arc really put it over for me even if i did really enjoy the first major arc with Tron and Faker as a three way clash between groups, It also rehashed some ideas from DM like with Shark and his sister having the same parallel as Jonouchi/Joey with his sister even down to them having bandages covering their eyes, but in Zexal this takes a more bittersweet turn with the twist that i am sure you know about.
Then Vrains even if it's ending was rushed, I wish they revealed who King was and did more with Queen instead of feeding her to Ai since she was build up as this threat early on before becoming fodder in her return in season 3, and then Toei Season zero Yugioh, then GX with season 4 being my favorite season, wasn't dub btw. and then 5ds though i didn't finish it because i didn't like the direction it took after the Darksigners arc and the mishandle of Aki/the twins and wasn't a fan of Crow who was shoehorned as one of signers when it should have been Lua/Leo, The sudden shift from the cult stuff too futuristic cyborgs felt like a new writer took over and retconned things previously established such as Yliaster as a cult. And then there is Jack's relationship and character development with Carly which was just dropped and she went back to being a pointless character who made a few cameos, And Jack character kinda regressed back to where it was before meeting her.
and Lastly Arc V which was good up until the final arc where it went downhill fast imo, Which is a shame because having the mc be the essentially anti christ was an interesting concept with him being the real final boss even being foreshadowed in op 4, the villain Akaba Leo also had a really dumb motivation in the end with why he wanted the girls and was easily taken care of, Haven't seen any of the rush stuff and don't really plan on it.

Zexal and GX are the best imo definitely my favorite. Zexal doesn’t have the best start but it gets so good that its my favorite out of all series.

Each Yu-Gi-Oh series had different type of card summon from gx - go rush and so on and forth.
You should react to all Cardfight Vanguard openings, it's like Yugioh (totally original card design with lore, with its own anime) but it plays in a totally different way :3, it has good openings.
I might it depends how the reaction goes for the video If I do it.
My top 3 yugioh seasons are defintely GX, ArcV, and 5ds in that order. ArcV had more flaws than 5ds imo, but it's potential is what leads me to place it higher even though I like 5ds characters like 10x more.
I'm the opposite on arcV it's wasted potential makes it in my bottom 3.

I just remembered, if you're planning on re-watching these in English I should warn you there are episodes they didn't dub. This includes the entire final season of GX (really freaking dark by the way) and over 30 episodes of 5D's.
And the Sevens recap episodes.
5D's is definitely an old favorite of mine. Also like GX and I've been getting into Sevens after avoiding it for years and honestly when it comes to the waifu aspect, it is one of the best so far.
Edit: After watching the entire video, your opinion is based. As I've said before 5D's and GX are great. Jack is a very likeable character though in terms of rivalry, Kaito and Declan were at the top imo.
Arc-V was a disappointment and VRAINS, well... I can't quite put my finger on it but I don't like the way they did the characters. Everyone seems so stoic and the girl unfortunately also gets shafted again. But that's just my opinion; by all means do experience it for yourself.
I haven't watched Go RUSH yet, but Sevens is cool. Yes, the protagonists are pretty much the youngest so far, BUT the main boy is actually a pretty competent mechanic, getting close to Yusei levels. If anything, he is certainly more competent than Jaden, Yuma and especially Yuya. Rather than someone who aspires to be the "King of Games" or anything great like that, the Sevens MC is more of a Pegasus.
Also this series is the first one that develops the female characters properly and doesn't drop them off in the second half like what happened to Alexis, Akiza, Yuzu and Aoi. They're actually badass! Maybe it's also because I love the Railgun series, but that actually puts it in Top 3 for me.
Seven and Go Rush are childish
Go Rush: Kills off 8.8 million people and the rival in one story arc. Also war and racism...
Yugioh zexal and 5Ds are my favorite seasons

one last thing though- my top 5 favorite Yugioh characters:
1. Soulburner (from Vrains. my man's even 5th place among my favorite ANIME characters. so it should tell you how much i love him. although i biased to any fire type character 🔥 and the summoning mechanic in Vrains is called "Link Summon". Link monsters have blue background, red arrows, NO DEFENSE POINTS AND NO STARS- AKA LEVELS)
2. Axel Brody (from GX. did i mention that i love fire? 🔥 )
3. Jack Atlas (from 5D's. no need to add more about him right? 👍🏼 )
4. Vrais, or "Revolver" in the Japanese version (from Vrains. the antagonist in the first season. his first duel against Playmaker, the MC, is one of my favorites 👌🏻 especially his 3000 attack points Link monster)
5. Aster Phoenix (from GX. no need to add more right? 👍🏼 )
plus i agree, Arc-V was weird, especially how it ended (and don't get me started on Zexal's end, that was BS).

People give too much hate to Zexal, i think is one of the more heavy story driven stories out of the entire series, also the music and bg sounds is a delight, also Yuma has one if not the most impresive growing out of all the protagonist, starting as one of the worst duelist not only in his series but out of all series having a loosing record worst than tristan taylor, it is stated that he had a 30 loosing duel streak, So watching him learn and gorw as a duelist was incredible, he took the some of the worst beatings out there but int he end never give up and became a powerful duelist of his own, having a final match against astral, mirroring the final duel of yugi and atem, my fav season after DM

Yu-gi-oh Sevens and Go Rush isn't bad bro. Even if it was made by different anime studio, the plotstory was intended for younger audience with new easier Rush duel gameplay. Its true that for adult & veteran Yu-gi-oh!, you will feel its a downgrade but the creator feel the current Yu-Gi-Oh! rule is too overwhelming for kid to start play it. The rush duel rule was intended to gave kids a chance to be shine without had to compete with veteran player that has complicated deck archetype and various type of special summon monster.
PS: Of course, veteran player doesn't need to like Sevens/Go Rush series. Buts its important to understand that Yugioh originally a card game for kid. If you watch Sevens, you will understand what protagonist Yuga and other kid feel toward the card game. They can't enjoy it because the original rule is too restricted and kid can't keep up with it so Yuga create/add his own separate Rush duel rule without destroying original Yugioh rule game.
You're right about ArcV though, that last arc messup everything. Syncro universe arc is best but after that they make a short XYZ universe arc then straight into Fusion arc that brutally mess up everything.

The ending was such a letdown. They should have just had all of them leave Yuya and Yuzu and return to their actual bodies.

Some other card game anime openings like battle spirits and cardfight vanguard are also composites very well too. 😊
Vrains is honestly really good imo one of the better ones if your looking for a mature and serious series like 5Ds then youd love vrains.. vrains is short like 120 episodes i think but the concept revolves around virtual reality

ZeXal is my favorite, followed by Sevens, they're really good IMO, although ZeXal's start is a bit slow and it's kinda bad til Kait shows up, and people immediately dismiss Sevens cuz of the more child oriented audience, but it's like really good, but nah Sevens is definitely not the worst it's really good
about yugioh seven, yugioh have degree popular in japan, like no kid play it because it too expensive, skill gap so much ,so they make seven to attract kid to play the new yugioh rush duel

Vrains was in my opinion the best series of them all. It covered some darker topics than earlier series and even had moments that hit like a semi truck. It took everything that 5Ds did right and perfected it and that's why it's the GOAT.
Side note: must watch subbed. The dub kinda pulled it's punches like it normally does.
i think arc V would have been great if it had more episodes and fixed up the ending. It had so much potential

I HEAVILY implore you to watch in japanese if you rewatch. As season 4 of gx is only in japanese, same with the last little bit of 5ds as well.

GX is the best Yugioh series. ARC-V had a lot of potential, but some of the rushed writing makes it fall short. Of course, classic Yugioh is always going to be classic.

And Calling, the third VRAINS opening works best in context. In context its beautiful. And by beautiful I mean it makes me cry because it is so sad and tragic.

And say what you willl about Sevens, its premise is dark. Literal Totaltarian Corpratocracy Dystopia setting. Also, its really good. Like actually really good. Entire production team changed and it helped. For example the female characters aren't treated like shit. And Go Rush finally gave us a female lead.

Japanese Zexal is the best Yugioh series. Dub did it so dirty. My favorite will always be GX though.

I started watching Yugioh In Japanese during the last season of GX since it was never dubbed in English and since I came from watching the Dub, I was so confused by their Japanese names until I got use to it.
5Ds was my favorite in the series and when watching the sub and Dub, I notice they cut of a lot of episodes especially near the end of the of the series and changed the dialogue in English to make look like they covered the episodes that were skipped. For example, Jack got a new ace monster and they glossed over the episode that he got it and when he summoned, the Dub made it like it was the first time he summoned it and everyone was surprised and said they got from the heart or something along the lines. Also really like Akiza (Aki in Japanese) since she was voiced by the Ayumi Kinoshita (who previously played DekaYellow from Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger or the source material for Power Rangers SPD.
For me, the series fell off after 5Ds and stopped watching the series until Vrains but stopped watching entirely after it ended.
Yeah agreed that they did Yuto on ARC-V dirty. He's the coolest (and most interesting) of all Yuya's counterpart, and has the best deck too, and they made him bite the dust so early. (Technically still alive inside Yuya, but come on, we want to see more Phantom Knight!)
My Top 5 favorite YGO Character:
1. Kyosuke Kiryu/Kalin Kessler (5D's) That Cowboy Duelist Arc is the bomb
2. Seto Kaiba (DM) The dude is just iconic
3. Yusei Fudo (5D's) The best Main Character for me
4. IV/Quattro (ZeXal) The Guy is so f*cked up, I like it
5. Jounouchi/Joey Wheeler (DM) I like him more than Yugi. His character growth on Battle City is amazing.

To me, 5DS is the best one, followed closely by Arc-V and Vrains. Then comes Zexal, OG, GX, Sevens and Go Rush. The last 3 of my list are the ones I really didn't like. You should probably react to a video explaining the lore that connects all yu-gi-oh shows and movies.

You need to watch the Japanese audio versions to get full uncut uncensored, no cut cotent superior version, for example final season of gx and parts of 5ds have been completely cut in the garbage dub

Yu-Gi-Oh Arc V will always be my favorite it's sucks they had to rush the ending
5D's has meh opening songs imo but their OST is a BANGER, my fave season that isn't the original, hands down.

I had to cut it out because it blocked world wide so I couldn’t do anything. Even if I try to put it out for the opening with no sound it will still get flagged for me getting hit with a copyright block.
