As a medic, I was taught to leave my issues at the door when I come to work. If I need a break to get myself together I can take one. But I cannot give poor service to clients because of not being in the right mental space . Its better not to come to work because you can literally kill a patient. They say you pick Your issues back when you leave the floor 😂 (Sounds mean but its the truth). So the stress that covid has brought to medics isn't an excuse to give below average care. Also, the amniotic fluid shouldn't be green, if it is, then it means there is an infection or baby has pooped before delivery (Not good). It shouldn't be bloody either, it may be blood tinged but not bloody. Finally the theater is usually kept very cold as a way to control bacteria growth, hence the freezing. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your story!

At times working in a public hospital,we are often overwhelmed with the work load and as medics we often forget that our patients need emotional support. We even give life changing diagnosis hurriedly since we don't have the time to just be there for that one patient. From Shiko's experience we have to learn to try to be more kind, attentive and supportive of our patients. Most of them are in so much fear and we ought to do better.

I love this story especially because it sheds light on the birthing process for c-section mom's and especially during this pandemic season because we're still in it. Pole Shikie for the times you were alone during the process 🙏🏾 I also think the staff were not in a great mental space... aside from the risk factor, they were losing colleagues, being over worked etc but all in all I'm happy that both you and baby remained safe and healthy.
The bill part... IMPORTANT! Always always check your bill before paying. I've had and seen countless of cases where things have been added to the bill that were not actually part of the hospital care service. Counter, cross check and question always.

For me, post-partum was a really bad experience(of course every mother has a different experience) and it was due to lack of emotional support. I was in pain, didn't know what to do with a screaming newborn who had colic, didn't sleep a wink the first week cause I was scared I kept checking to see whether the baby was breathing I had to see a doc to give me drugs to relax. Lots of sleepless nights spent crying(the two of us). I had post partum depression. I'm telling you the person you decide to have a baby with and the people surrounding you at that time are sooo crucial. Choose wisely.

Yamal is really calm and takes time to listen to his patients. Shikkie did well with the narration. I agree, anyone working in and within hospital premises needs training because patients need all the compassion and assistance they can get. Some of us fear hospitals. The escalated bills is such a nuisance it's the oldest trick

Clear water is okay bt too much of it means you can’t do normal delivery because water is supposed to break as the child comes , green means your child has already pooped and is at risk because he/she can start ingesting the poop which causes blockage in the respiratory tract.

I had to pause at 16:44 This is the best episode yet. "Am about to give birth!" Utakaa? 🤔🤔🤔 .....🤣🤣🤣🤣 nimechecka yangu yote. Love from 🇨🇦
Pause again at 18:17. This lady insisting on pushing the wheelchair. Si, she works there? I would assume she knows the way to maternity? Kenya our country is just special. Pause again 18:42. "Tumefika, shuka.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This is painful and funny. Wah, Shiko I can relate. Gave birth in Aga Khan 5 years ago. Agreed training needs to be done from the outside. Right from the watchman. Pause again 21:45. Yes. Dr. Yamal is the best. Those nurse move when he is around. Pause again at 24:01. Ivy, theater is just in Kenya. I have done both Kenya and 🇨🇦 And trust me, exactly like movies is how it is here. Lakini, Theater ya Kenya. Lord have mercy on our Nation. Lakini tuna survive. This episode has so much humanity or lack off. You ladies should seriously do that T-shirt. Tafuta sponsors, Lonzie talk to your sis about donors and become activist on so many issues raised from this episode. But seriously this is my best episode. Pause again at 43:33 pack your bags from second trimester. My girl came at 27 weeks. I had not bought even one item for the baby. Congratulations Shiko

Aga Khan can leave you in tears 😂. Wueeeeeh! As a babe with two sick parents who've both been going to Aga Khan consistently since 2014 and 2016, they can leave you in premium tears 😅
Kwanza venye things have been crazy this pandemic.
About billing, ours is insurance and I thankfully learnt earlier on about going through the items one by one. They take advantage of insurance aki. My dad jokes and says they can bill a pregnancy test for a male patient just to kula cash 😂
All in all, we thank God for the gift of life
    And congratulations Shikie 👏🏽

The best way to question a bill at Aga Khan is from the wards. Start with the nurses. For surgery go to theatre. Get daily bills so you have something to compare, and sort the bills daily,so that during discharge it's easier.
