I always tell people you’re not paying for a quality you’re paying for the brand
Exactly 100% agree❤
Maybe in 2023 bc everything is made differently. But I have a Speedy that’s 21 years old and that’s been used way more than it hasn’t. It’s held up great. Needs a little work on the bottom leather piping. That’s it. The handles, everything are perfect and a beautiful patina.
If you’re going to buy one, buy vintage. Mine is from 2002. Totally different that today’s material wise.
But I still want a NF. I’m a tote bag lady.

Seriously
I hate when I go to "higher end" brands, even not as expensive as LV or Gcc, and I find lose threads, and glue. It gives me the ick. If I pay that much, I expect perfection.
Edit: oh, wow, I didn’t even notice I got so many replies. First, I’m not privileged, I’m Cuban, and whatever I have in life was earn well and hard. Secondly, I don’t purchase luxury items, precisely because they aren’t perfect. If my initial comment wasn’t clear, I hate checking an item I like and findings some obvious flaw, ain’t no way I’m paying x10 x20 times the price of what I can find at a whatever store. I LOVE handcrafted leather goods, and I have purchased all of my bags in the last 7 years and other gifts for friends from local artisans. You guys read my comment and jumped to conclusions hard and crashed 😂😂😂😂
Thank you for thinking I was that rich and privileged and also lacked common sense, I hope your comments shower me with the money needed for that kind of delulu shopping spree 😂😂😂😂
I've never understood why people pay for very "high end" products at all. They're never absolutely perfect anyway. I've come from a background where I've seen too many people spend ludicrous money on items available for 1/10th the price at identical quality. Every time I see one of them with such an item, my respect for them decreases just a little bit. I genuinely don't understand why they'd spend such grandiose amounts money for something that's not even customised/tailored. As far as I can tell it's just paying for recognisable brand that shows other people that they've spent a lot of money.
Sigh, I'm rambling, but it really does discust me.

The only "luxury" bags I've ever bought are Coach bags. They're what my mom always carried and she started my collection when I was in highschool, and I've been adding to it ever since. My oldest one was bought in 1989 and it's as lovely today as it was the day I got it, and that's not due to any special care or storage; I just hang them on a plastic hanger in my closet, and rotate carrying each one every few months. Most are solid color pebbled leather, which never go out of style, with a few cloth signature bags sprinkled in the mix. A few were purchased brand new and the rest were purchased used or are hand-me-downs.
To each their own, and all that jazz, but spending $2,000.00+ on a purse just ain't for me. My biggest Coach splurge was around $350.00, and that took me a while to save up for, as I would never ever buy something like that on credit. The only thing my husband and I bought on "credit" is our house. We're big believers in living within our means...we may not have a bunch of fancy stuff or go on big vacations, but we sleep soundly every night knowing no one will be showing up to repo any of our belongings. Do note a product like a leather bag is more than just cost and labor. You also have to account for marketing budget, operating cost, R&D cost, and more. Does that all add up anywhere near $2700. Of course not.
But it's a good thing for consumers to know that raw material cost and labor are not the only costs when making a product.

It’s a country club membership for them I guess. Can’t afford it myself and even if I could I wouldn’t waste money on that.
The burger you paid$6 for at McDonald’s costs them less than 20 cents. It’s called markup, pays for store fronts, marketing, salaries(other than manufacturing cost), and of course profit. After all companies are not in it for the fun of it.

Have you done Dooney & Bourke? I worked retail and learned they were a staple because of the quality and not really the fashion.
I love them but can't get pass the pronounced contrasting threads. Too bad.
Remember that costs have nothing to do with the value (price) of goods and services, it only matters when assessing if it is worth producing something or not.
Right. Thats the cost of the production. You gotta put in perspective everything else, lile the brand name, workers, keeping boutiques open. Is much more than that.
Are you seriously trying to justify a markup from $260 for materials and assembly to $2,700 for sale?
That's a 1000% markup. Not even Apple is that bad!!!

2 or 3 times I have saved a quiet amount of money to buy a high-end luxury bag, my husband also offered to buy me one. Well, once in the store, I totally hated the customer service people. There are so racist. They treated us like crap so I took my over 5k to a family vacation instead. Great choice. There is no reason to spend that much money on a bag.
Which bags and company would you say is worth 2700 dollars I would love to hear your expertise
Non
Depends on what you mean by "worth" . There are brands that have specific items that are "iconic" and have only gone up in price, therefore buying certain items can actually be a good investment. Now, many will argue, no way...but here me out. Chanel and Hermes hold their prices the best, and in those brands its not every item, a Chanel small or mini classic flap bag is currently running around $7000 Canadian, the same bag 2 years ago, was about $4500. Now, almost everything in the world has gone up enormously in the last 3 years due to many things, but many people who bought a lot of Chanel a few years ago can now sell them and make a tidy profit, same goes for Hermes although Chanel and Louis Vuitton pricing has gone up astronomically compared to other lux brands.
None. Just ask a craftsman who makes those bags from a third world country and you can get the same or better quality with lower costs. LV bags are imported from 3rd world countries.
What I like is that it reminds you that everyone is wearing the same thing… as in, really, there’s nothing different other than your bag, your T-shirt, your pants, are just sold by a fancier person.
I love this channel
cost of labour in france is expensive though, the worker def gets paid more than what you said, bc that's barely the daily salary, not even counting the accessories
Not really though. First, many ways to write “made in France” with most of the process done elsewhere. And secondly, to the people who make those every day, this doesn’t take long to make.
I don’t think he was far off at all. Being paid a little more than chinese kids doesn’t make labour expensive in France hahahahhaha
I love leather goods and i love the reviews you do on all these brands😊
Would you make a similar bag for $260?
😂😂😂 good question 👍👍
Yes, but I would probably sell it at 500
@@FalconEchocan you message me. I want you to make me a mens bag.
It's waay cheaper than your estimate. Most of the times the product is shipped half finished from china.
That's why the made in france/italy tag.
Generic bag like this costs around 50 dollars without taxes.
That's not true, and it's just production cost. Not the final cost of sales.
This is the investment cost BUT I purchased mine 14 yrs ago, packed it with diapers, baby bottles, etc and I swear this bag looks still new. I dont like LV but I love this bag.
Love that new cut! Not getting reconstructed. By the way what do you do with the pieces?
No wonder the guy who made louie Vuitton is a billionaire...
And the same people that buy it, complain that the rich keep on getting richer
Are you dumb? Arnold didn't make LV . His company owns it
In a purely marketing context the customer is 99% responsible for this outcome.
@@Pottydetrue. How can you blame a compamy trying to make money? If the customers are paying for it... the only time i disagree is when it comes to essentiel stuff we all need to live.
No I don’t think so…….
I like how he's objective and not just shitting on the brand
Obviously LV is super expensive, but some people don't consider the business side of things. The cost per unit (per bag) may be $260 but you need to consider fixed and variable costs of the business, for example, wages/salary of employees, shop rent, equipment, advertising etc... so overall the cost to keep the business afloat means the products need to be expensive. The extreme prices are aldo because the owner will want money for personal use
FYI, if you find a decent leather craftsman, they’ll copy literally any design on anything they can make for you, so you get a custom leather something for good price. I’ve got a good cordwainer in Bangkok that I have make snakeskin leather All Stars for me and it only costs about 50.
Copying is not 'decent'
@@macassar1 are you stupid? That’s a genius idea, you get away from paying the premium for a brand and technically it isn’t fake since you’re just switching out the materials on the shoe. It’s a custom NOT A copy.
@@macassar1 Yes it is. Thinking you can own a design or idea is what is not decent.
@@rct999 Copying someone else's copyrighted design is illegal and will end up in jail.
@@remarkablegoat431 oh whatever. it’s a custom. get over it.
Great video, very informative
What an amazing project keep going I find there are good stuff out there without buying the expensive ones
😂 anybody else feels satisfied with the stabby part at the beginning? I just know how cringe-y it must feel for some of the brand lovers.
Design department: Once again, they think design is free
oh! designing something means that it is worth $2000????? good job for being able to stay this gullible even at your age, buddy!
LOL!
I purchased a bag in Italy on a 'boondoggle'. The memories this bag brings to mind and the flush of feelings is worth everything to me. Let's not quantify the reasons people buy these items and can layer trade up in most cases. It's an investment.
I’m blown away at your estimates. You pull apart extremely intricately built bags and wallets and put a $60 labor price, then the easiest bags to build like this one have a $160. You are lying to people.
This hurts me so badly! 😂
Everytime seeing you destroy a bag, I’m always like ripping my heart out 😂
