Please explain what you mean by 6-8 canes per running foot.

no more than 6 to 8 plants or shoots in a 12 inch or 1 foot space for max production.

I believe he means per plant, when they grow out of the ground, keep the count you allow to grow at to 6 or 8 new shoots.
