It sounds like an appreciably quiet antenna, no background QRN. However it sometimes happens to me to hear you in LSB here in Italy; sooner or later I'll succeed in being heard by you hopefully.

How are you liking that new v quad antenna? How's the receive and rejection. Seems like it is talking good. Keep up the good skip vids. 73s. I'm 10-7.
Since I know you like to diy ... have you had any experience with Faraday cloth antennas? Will they work with CB? They would make the ultimate fold-it-up-in-your-pocket emergency take it anywhere antenna.
My amp does the same as yours MJ. It'll show 1.8-2.0 with a 3ft jumper. If I add a barrel connector and another 3ft jumper to it, it drops to 1.5-1.6 with the amp on high. My amp on low pwr setting the SWR is above 3, no bueno. So I only run it on high pwr.I have not made up a jumper yet, but was told to try one that is 82" long, that's 6ft 10" long. I have the AT5555NII and Palomar TX 150 bi level that's been modified. It'll put out around 240 watts PEP on high pwr.
I do experience the same thing on the SWR meter when the amp is ON, which I don't know why and is it bad for the radio. Mine is the AT5555N. Testing my antenna with the amp ON at 100 watts A.M. the reading is a good 1.2. It's only the radio that reads differently.
