I think this is great advice, BUT to say that everyone needs to be trained is incorrect. Not everyone needs to be trained to be able to do certain things. Sometimes they're just really good at it. It happens a lot actually.
Thanks for your comment :) when it comes to the training aspect, I don’t say you need it in order to book a part (my examples of Matthew McConaughey, Will Smith, and Johnny Depp). They had 0 Acting training before they booked their first part. So it isn’t always needed for everybody in a short term perspective. Long term wise, getting training can be very valuable. The 3 celebrity actors I just mentioned all decided to receiving coaching (training) after they had begun to establish themselves, because they knew it was necessary. It’s not for everybody, but if we follow the success of actors who have been around for awhile, they have followed this plan. Thanks!
@@TheActorsAcademy That may be true but everyone's success story is different and there are many different ways to go about things besides taking classes.
I know, that’s what I said in my last comment... You don’t need training to get lucky, you just hope the training can prepare you enough for it. Actors have made it big without any training at all in the beginning. With that being said, many of those successful actors you admire have coaches on set or sometimes even seek out coaching. They don’t have to go to drama school or take classes, but they do get coaching one way or another. Research it for yourself and you’ll find the patter. Sometimes people have to observe it for themselves to find the truth. I’ve spent over 100 hours on studying other actors and their paths, so I think I know some of the biggest patterns I see, but like I said, have a look for yourself on it.
Sure there is people that are naturally talented , but as an actor you must be ready to take a directors , direction. This is the reason for training, not bc your not talented enough, but you're just more professional, it's best to be professional and talented. Then just talented
I love how all you just want to be famous. It’s not about being famous. It’s about doing what you love. Acting isn’t just saying stuff it is bringing a character alive. Most the time it won’t go your way.
So many people who want to be an actor and they already live in the country where they shoot those movies and series... Or even when you live in another country, but you have the same native language... they are all so lucky! Even though I can speak English, I will always have my foreign accent and if I wish to make it one day, I would need to leave everyone behind and move to the other side of the globe... 🥺
I watched this video a while ago but only just now have I realized how many opportunities this has given me by giving motivation to do more then just musicals. This made me want to learn more about commercials and short movies through the help of the backstage app and my supporting mom I have been able to do commercials short movies and one of my proudest moments appearing in Seattle opera thanks to this video you have given me the motivation to do more then the regular theater kid
Atheesha Venthan, i asked around like at where i work. Someone eventually knew where they would be casting for this show. My first time ever acting it eas actually last September. It eas hust background extras, but they noticed that i was serious out of 300 people. I was paid 300 for only two days.
@@daniellakaran5760 me too, but I don't think I will get far, and all the things I have to do to become an actress is too much. Like I can prob get an agent and I live in the US which is great, but I live in Florida, and they don't rlly film here, so I would most likely have to move, but then I think ab my family and how much it would cost, and I know I can't 😭
@@naimalamar3301 Yeah I also have to think about those stuffs when I became a Hollywood actress because I'm Indonesian and I'm worry about those stuffs, especially moving from my home country to the USA as well as the cost.
Naima Lamar dude they film tons of stuff in florida (especially miami)😂 ive met soo many actors in miami filming movies (ace ventura pet detective). you can also travel to other places yk
Can you help me pleeasee, I really wanna audition for a netflix series but I don't find the online audition, I only see auditions in certain cities but is there a possibility to audition if I am from europe?😣
Hey Ayumi! Great question. I’m assuming if you’re looking for the auditions yourself, then you don’t have an agent is that correct? Unfortunately, if you’re seeking these auditions on your own you probability won’t find any. When projects are released on audition platforms, they call them breakdowns (casting frontier, casting networks, backstage, etc.) Agents and the ordinary public get two different breakdowns. The agents have access to the Level A, B, C, D, and F level breakdowns (the “A” & “B” being for big movies/shows or Netflix projects). The average person on the other hand only has access to the C, D, and F options (sometimes “A” & “B”) For national open casting calls. So in short, just you alone will probably not be able to find any Netflix auditions, unless they host an open casting call. Sometimes you can always search in google, “Open Casting Call for Netflix). They don’t usually host them, but for the lucky few they might, you may be able to find something. With all this being said, it is very possible to audition for Netflix or any big projects while still being in Europe. I don’t know which part of Europe you are in, but there are many big and good talent agencies over there, so you may want to check some of them out. They’ll be able to send you out for Netflix and other project as well. Hope this lifts any confusion.
The Actors Academy Yes that's correct. I have some auditions for agencies in a few months but I ain't sure if it's the right decision so I really wanna try applying on my own and be independant. I found some open calls for netflix auditions on their website but they only mention the city where the auditions take place but they dont mention online auditions. And oh thank you I didnt know the abc concept, thanks for the answer so far:) Idk if you know her but shay mitshell ( main character in pretty little liars ) applied online as well and i think she didnt have an agency but still she could apply online, i just dont find any information about that online:/
Agencies are your best bet. Of course if you don’t want one than don’t go for it. Even though Shay Mitshell May have auditioned without an agent, she definitely has one now. Even though there are some actors who may make it without an agent (even though it’s very few) MOST actors have agents and ALL actors who make it end up with an agent. Either way you‘ll get an agent, so you mine as well get one early. Of course you need to trust the agent/Agency and want to be with them, don’t just take one to take one, but can I ask what your hesitation is to getting an agent? As for the video auditions, if you’re seeing open casting calls for Netflix that’s great, but those are not national searches you‘re finding. A national search, will go national for their search. The ones you were finding are opening casting calls for local areas (if I found the same services you were looking at, which I think I am). For most national searches they’ll have video submission options for those who can’t make it on site. Congrats on the Agency meetings you have set up. Have you already got a meeting set or do you plan to set up your meeting? If you don’t feel comfortable getting an agent you should hold off or maybe your trying to build credits? I’m curious as to what you’re hesitation is.
The Actors Academy oh okay, sounds like it would be better with agency then😂Yeah I hesitate cause I have no experience with agencies and Im scared that i end up in an agency which isnt good and doesnt support me enough or something like that. I know that it isnt that good to be in more agencies at the same time because it can end up in fights between the agencies when it comes to jobs, so I think Im kinda afraid of the decision I have to make, to chose THE best agency and then stay there. And if I get job, i have no clue how much money they get from my earnings:D And yes i set up a meeting already, it is in a few weeks
That makes sense. I’d agree to hold off if you don’t feel comfortable about it either. I know the Agency situation is a little different over there than here, in terms of having multiple. It could be a question you ask them if you decide to have a meeting, because some agencies may not mind compared to others. Remember that you never have to say “yes” to an agency. If you don’t like them you can always say no and go off to the next meeting. As far as money and the percentage they take, if it’s the same as here, it’ll be about 10% If you’re not comfortable with meeting them yet and you think waiting a year or two would be better, than do that. *if you’re interested I have a 10 Hour online Acting masterclass class that talks about the agent, acting, ways of practicing, etc. if it’s something you’d be interested in* the-actors-academy.teachable.com
Info to be an actor 🤩 1:practice acting out different emotions in your room,or practice with your parents. (Happy, sad, angry, crying purposely, etc.) 2:you need to be able to do many genres of movies. So,practice. (Romance,Drama,Comedy, etc.) 3:Don’t be shy to practice your true self. 4:to fake cry, which is big,you can sing a sad song to make yourself cry. Or,onions are a huge option ;) 5:see if you’re parents are okay with it,if not, then it’s okay. You can save that dream for later. Or,keep practicing!

i’ve been acting for years now, but only in live theatre and musical theatre. i’ve always wanted to act as a teenager and i really want to create a name for me. thanks for the tips!
Well actually l told my mum and she supported me and said how she always wanted to be an actress all well and never did bc she didn’t have the confidence to step out there so I think it’s the best to follow your dreams and push harder and don’t be afraid! ❤️❤️
The more I watch movies and Netflix series, the more I want to be an actor.. My desire keeps growing and growing but for some reason, I have a slight fear ONLY when it comes to acting. A bit of a silly question but do you think it is fine to start at the age of 17?
Denis, same here... right now i suddenly want to become an actor so bad!!! I live in the Netherlands and the movies here are SUPER BAD!!!( kinda wished i lived in America ) I don't understand anything about this.video. haha ..... and i watched so many movies that i gained some decent amount of experience... but im somehow a little scared to take acting classes if i deside to go down this acting path . I really want to become an actor even tho im a little scared. it doesnt matter how old you are. Even if you are 70years old .... just follow your dreams!!!
*I liked what you said about even if you have natural talent, you still gotta put in work! The example of Beethoven etc was really cool. Great video!* :)

Hi I am from Spain, and I am watching this video to have some advice, and when I have enough money to move, I will move to New York city to follow my dreams, since I was a kid I have always wanted to be an actress, but here in Spain is more difficult, that is why I need to save enough money to go there, and I have always asked myself how people search managers and important castings, like in a Disney movie or a Netflix show, that's why I entered to this video, Good luck to everyone who wants to join this amazing world 👍🏻👍🏻 I hope my dreams come true one day, wish me luck 😄😊. Sorry for my bad English, I am Castilian Spanish 💃🏻💃🏻 haha
Netflix does some spanish shows like la casa de papel and elite so maybe they will make another spanish show and you could try that but idk maybe your too young to even watch these shows but maybe in the future
Its fine, what you have to do first is try to find an agent, this can take a long time but it depends from person to person. Depending on your age you might not need an agend though, I would recommend you definitly get an agent is you are a young adult (18-30) since thats whene you can be scamed and have other horrible things happen to you. If you are a child than I dont think it is necesery for an agent (especially if you are looking for small roles). I would also recommend you to make sure its what you want to do if you are going to give your all to it, the term staving actor exists for a reason. An important tip is to keep surching, even if you have an agent the most importend thing is to go out for auditiones all the time, really try to audition for as many as you possibly can. Anyway, thats all the tips I have try to google more and more stuff too, good luck and never give up!😘💖💗💞
Thank you so much, this really helped me. I was scared I would have to go to a drama school for four years just to become an actress but now I’m definitely going to go to a small acting class in town for a year
Yeah getting an agent is pretty hard. My advice would be to do a few films then start reaching out to agents after you have experience. Backstage.com seems to have a good list of real agents.
First of all; thank you for sharing your knowledge, i feel like it really helped me. Secondly, do you know how much a standard agent costs? ( i don‘t have much experience, i only did some plays on stage)
I just want to be in a movie or show. it doesn't matter what. But I have been researching and you have gave me the best information yet. I think I need to learn on emotion and memorizing. But I am willing to learn everything!
Backstage is an option that Actors have been using more each year, but some of the more common platforms you’ll see (in terms of self submitting for projects) would be Actors Access, Casting Frontier, and/or Casting Networks. The good thing with Backstage and the other platforms mentioned above, is that they are all very reputable and reliable systems depending on which one or multiples you would choose to use. You don’t have to be limited to just one platform. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
This was an amazing video, really helpful, but what can I do? I was born in a small village in a long forgotten country. It's just unfair that we don't have a chance to even show what we can do. Upsetting and stressing...all the time...
If you feeling that your dreams are crushed just think about me.I'm Greek with knowledge of English but not perfect and I want to be an actor in Netflix😂So yeah I will keep dreaming but I certainly will end up doing a job that I hate and die unhappy
Look up East 15, they support loads of international drama students, you'll become fluent in English and you'll learn accents alongside the acting training. If you really want to become an actor then you will have to go for it no matter how bad the odds might be. In the end the only thing that stops you is yourself. So don't give up. :)
Hey I am greek too but I go to an english school all my life. I have an american accent and will probably leave greece when I graduate to study and stay forever. I wanna be an actress too, guess my odds are better then yours. Keep dreaming though!💗
Thank you sooooo much, I’m auditioning for season 4 of stranger things now, I cross my fingers I make it, I’m auditioning for a speaking role witch makes me even more nervous
The first step is to find an agency you want to be with. You need to know what type of actor you are to know what Agency will suit you best. Once you find that Agency you’ll submit yourself and try to get your foot in the door. If you want more detailed inside tricks check out *10 Hour Acting Masterclass* the-actors-academy.teachable.com *Or* We can set up consultation, but that’s a little more pricey than the 10 Hour Masterclass right now. I charge $74.99 for the *Silver Consultation Plan* hour and $99.99 for the *Gold Consultation Plan* where we’d go through everything the Silver Consultation Plan would offer, plus a discussion of a clip/scene that you would choose to tape and we’d go over. Again that may be to pricey for you and if that’s the case, you may want to consider the online course I linked above. Wishing you the best!
It’s harder, but still very possible. Other factors get involved like how old you are, where you come from, if you have a possible demo reel, and if the agent really cares or not. Some won’t like if you’ve only done theater work and others won’t really care. I’ll tell you this, even if you have theater experience, no agent will be impressed by it and say “oh my gosh you’ve done theater.” (Unless it’s for something very big or notable) but if you’re the lead actor in your high school play they don’t care, so don’t try to over sale it. The theater part of your resume just kinda shows that you have a little experience in acting (even though theater won’t really translate to your film work). Sometimes an agent will make you read a scene for them as they get to know you, don’t bring your stage self to the scene, whatever you do. If you act like you’re on a stage when infront of the camera or the agent, you won’t get booked. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions 👍🏼
The Actors Academy bro thanks so much for responding. You have no idea how much that means. I’m 20 and just starting out. I’m from Philadelphia but currently don’t have a demo reel. I did theater all through high school and outside of school. Do you think if I play my cards right I could still get an agent? Even if they get me small roles? Also You think if I did some short films or commercials I’d get a better chance of getting an agent? The only thing is even with commercials is soo competitive.
Of course man, I’m glad to help 👍🏼 Yes, you could definitely still get an agent. Playing your cards right and staying genuinely kind can get you there. I’ve known actors get agents without having done any camera work before. A LOT of it comes down to personality when your in the room with them (if you get that far). Most people don’t mention it, but it’s true. It comes down to your personality when your in the room and if they feel like they don’t have someone like you on their client roster yet. Now getting into the room is the hard part. You’ll notice when your applying to the agencies most will ask you for a demo reel. Especially the bigger agencies, they wanna see what you can do before you walk in. With that being said, you can weezle around some of them without it (if you play your cards right), but many may not call you in without it, just depends how much they wanna see you in person and that has a lot of factors (the day, where the agent is at in looking for new talent, if your correspondence with them is pleasant or not, things like that). Now when it comes to short films and commercials it depends on the notoriety of both. During the short film circuit, if you’re in a big very popular short that everyone’s talking about than sure, but otherwise you’ll usually get more of a response from doing commercial work. Again depends how the agent views this, but either way none of them will hurt you if you’ve done them, just depends how much time you have on your hands to audition or do a short with no pay. Sometimes finance also needs to come in to play. You’re correct when you say competition is high for commercials, but it’s the same for film and tv auditions, the competition will be relatively the same. Commercial agents may not care as much for the demo reel, so if you get into the room it will come down to personality (how they feel with you) and if they have someone like you already. You could get a commercial agent, be with them for a little bit and then explain that you’re really interested in a theatrical agent would love if they could recommend someone and then you tell them how great their agency is that you’d like to keep it in house. Before you do that though, make sure you get in with a good commercial agency, it will benefit you more. For the commercial agents, don’t settle go for one of the better ones that also represent actors for movies and tv (theatrical agent). Also, when it comes to any agency (commercial, theatrical, whatever) I wouldn’t settle for just any agency, but that’s because I like being with the best ones or at the least the ones that are better then most, but people have different outlooks on that aspect of it. Either way they’re both trying to get you in the door. One last note, if you’re going for an agent. Remember you can say *no* to them. If after your meeting you’re not interested, don’t bother trying to move forward, just respectfully decline or let them know your looking into other offers.
Great video! I have a question... If I live in Mexico and I want to audition for a show or something... I do know how to act, but can I send a video or something to an agency??

Nikki Sweet that’s how I am I never took acting lessons but have had multiple show opportunities.

This guy crushed my dreams.
Ellie Faye I don't believe in a gos
In what way?
Don't listen to him I'm 15 and i got into MindHunter on Netflix. Don't let anyone crush u🤗
Atheesha Venthan, i asked around like at where i work. Someone eventually knew where they would be casting for this show. My first time ever acting it eas actually last September. It eas hust background extras, but they noticed that i was serious out of 300 people. I was paid 300 for only two days.
Stuff like little background extras gets ur name around to bigger abd bigger roles🖒
All these people thinking they getting on stranger things only to meet the cast lmao
Yeah ikr. I want to be an actress because I love acting and my parents see the talent in me.

As far as money and the percentage they take, if it’s the same as here, it’ll be about 10%
If you’re not comfortable with meeting them yet and you think waiting a year or two would be better, than do that.

I’d love to sign up for a virtual interactive class for beginners, or one on one training, any suggestions on where to look? Thanks!
if i want to start out, would backstage be a good way to find/get auditions? or would i need to find an agent?
Backstage is an option that Actors have been using more each year, but some of the more common platforms you’ll see (in terms of self submitting for projects) would be Actors Access, Casting Frontier, and/or Casting Networks. The good thing with Backstage and the other platforms mentioned above, is that they are all very reputable and reliable systems depending on which one or multiples you would choose to use. You don’t have to be limited to just one platform.
Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
Thank you this helped.
You’re welcome!!

How do i get an agent
The first step is to find an agency you want to be with. You need to know what type of actor you are to know what Agency will suit you best. Once you find that Agency you’ll submit yourself and try to get your foot in the door.

We can set up consultation, but that’s a little more pricey than the 10 Hour Masterclass right now. I charge $74.99 for the *Silver Consultation Plan* hour and $99.99 for the *Gold Consultation Plan* where we’d go through everything the Silver Consultation Plan would offer, plus a discussion of a clip/scene that you would choose to tape and we’d go over. Can you get an agent if you only have theater experience?
Of course man, I’m glad to help 👍🏼
Yes, you could definitely still get an agent.
