    You look so pretty with your hair like that. I love it. What a wonderful review of the Ordinary. If there comes a time when I don't use my Obagi, I will give these a look for sure. Thank you for explaining everything so well. Love to you, Melissa

    hi Karen! Another great review. I finally tried the AHA 30% BHA 2% peel. I was terrified that it was going to burn after watching so many different reviews using this strength although not the Ordinary brand. I was pleasantly surprised that as you stated, did not burn! I was even able to leave it on for the full 10 minutes. Like you I attribute it to using the other acids which possibly prepared my skin for being more ready for it. I feel that my skin is much smoother and soft. I will definitely be implementing it into my skin care routine on a regular basis.

    Your reviews on the Ordinary products are without a doubt the best and most thorough. We've been using them, many based on your recommendations, love them and want to do a review on our channel, but man, how we would pale in comparison to your incredible research! Thanks so much for your knowledge and the tremendous effort you put into these. - xx, Cindy & Carla from 2 Real Chicks

    I've been using the 10% lactic acid since it was released (I've nearly finished my second bottle) on my dry/sensitive/eczema prone skin. However, I had used acid toners prior to that so my skin was used to/tolerates acids fairly well. For someone not used to acids, I also think the 5% would be a better choice to begin with. I've ordered the glycolic acid toner (I'm on waitlist) as a replacement to my first aid beauty acid pads, which I've used for quite a while. The toner will be a less expensive replacement item which will act in a similar manner. I'm a little wary of the 30% on my skin so I think I'll wait quite a while before trying that as I also used retinol (on alternate nights from my acids). I have fairly clear skin without a lot of blocked pores etc so I don't need the BHA. Just as a word to the wise glycolic washes etc are very drying on my skin type and a milk/cream cleanser works soooo much better. I get my exfoliating from the acid pads/toner/serum as well as the resurfacing from retinol. Too much of a good thing can make skin freak out and should be used with caution initially. Best wishes.

I already have The Ordinary salicilique acid and their hydrating products and am delighted with them so last night I ordered all The Ordinary acids in your video without really knowing what to do with them (like you, I tend to get carried away !). Therefore, thanks to you, I now know how to use them. Thank you so much for your dedication. Keep up the good work and I hope you are feeling better (you look merveilleuse!) I am enjoying two glycolic acid products. Mario Badesco foaming glycolic cleanser and the same brand glycolic acid toner. I only use them on days that I'm very peely from my tretinoin which is day 2 or 3. I think I'll try adding in the lactic acid to my regimen. Great video Karen!

Guess what through your help I got differin then I reintroduced the 23% vitamin c , which I hated but now I'm not overdoing it with all the acids, it doesn't irritate me then rosehip oil & moisturiser. So thanks for your hard work 😓 it's so hard with different skins but you helped with the ph of everything, which for me was educational. I love your videos. Your medical knowledge makes me feel confident in what you are explaining. And not just someone testing, reading someone's article and then taping it.
    Quick questions:
    What is the benefit of using both retinol & retinoid during the week?
    Does retinoid "Differin adapalene gel 0.1%" have the same effect as tretinoin?

    Can I just say WOW! I came across your retinoids vs retinals video and was blown away!! I will be subscribing! I’ve been sitting here watching all your Ordinary Videos.
    Ok I am extremely new to real skin care. By that I mean, I am exploring more than just face wash spf and moisturizer. I’ve always been real good about taking care of my skin. Morning and night washes making sure I use spf and moisturizer. Oh and occasionally would exfoliate.
    With all that said I am 42 years old and I’m really becoming conscious of my enlarged pores, black heads (I thought were hereditary) and now the starting of fine lines and number 11’s between my eyes.
    I stumbled across the ordinary a year ago and just recently started really purchasing other things rather than HA and Rosehip oil.
    I bought the peeling solution and didn’t feel it was doing anything. Then again I was not religious with it. I have extremely oily skin so I’m thinking the salicylic acid might be better for me. I will purchase as soon as they restock.
    My question: (and I’m sorry it’s taken this long to ask) is... How do you fit everything in your routine? I also derma roll with a .25 once a week so I am trying not to go overboard with acids.
    I just started this journey about a month ago and I already see my large pores shrinking but I’m looking for a faster result. I want my acne scars gone and my #11’s. But I’m also very cautious because I do not want to do permanent damage. So how are you fitting it all in?
    Thanks in advance for any advice!

    I am using a derma abrasion tool that I really like. I just started using the AHA 30% + the lactic acid yesterday. I had no reaction and liked that the pores on my nose looked smaller. Also the redness at the sides of my nostrils seemed less pink :) I do have dry skin (61) but not sensitive skin. I appreciate the additional information. I had no idea what the AHA and BHA stood for! :)

      I've been using these for 6 months and now just stared using the 30% AHA 2% BHA and I find it lovely. I made a video about how I use these and how I use chemical peels. I use 60% lactic and glycolic peels. I'm use to it. I don't even get irritated from them.

    Hi Karen! This is great! I love your videos on The Ordinary! I've been trying several of their products for a month now and I have really enjoyed them. My favorites are the lactic acid 5% and the vitamin c suspension. My question is why wait between the lactic acid and applying oils/moisturizer? I have very dry, sensitive skin with mild rosacea, no oil or acne. At night I do the vitamin c twice a week, the retinoid once a week and lactic acid the other four days. All in conjunction with the rest of my routine of cleanser, toner, oils of course. I'm new to all of this and I'm loving the results so far, just don't want to melt my face off. Hopefully I'm not doing too much although it doesn't feel like I am. Thanks for your help!

      Jenny Hansen wow seems like you and me are on the same page at the moment as like yourself I am new too to all this. At night I use the 0.025 retin A once per week...starting slowly as they recommend. I use the 23% suspension too and have built this up to 2 times per week. Rest of the week I use either the P50w lotion and niacinamide or only the niacinamide...in conjunction with the rest of my products /routine. But I have not yet ordered the lactic acid and would love to try this and incorporate it in my regime on some nights...If you have any hints or tips as we are both new starters it would be most welcome.

    you might remember I mentioned that using the ordinarys strong retinol 1% thing messed up my face got like a chemical burn, I feel like since that day I have somehow sensitized my skin and it has become so reactive to everything I have constant excema patches along my jaw it's soo wierd! I have taken your advice about the no water thing which I forgot to ask that miccelar water has water in it but I'm guessing it's purified..? anyway someday I can only use cetaphil for moisture no treatments. now I am glad about the retinoid in the dropper bottle is so Mild! i might give the mask a try since u mentioned no burning or stinging thanks for all the info Karen I look forward to the foundation review! xx

      hey, for the AHA BHA Peel, it is never going to be available in Canada unfortunately:( Canada's restrictions on acid products is very strict and the concentration The Ordinary offers goes over the limit for Canadian restrictions :( Kinda of weird because this is a Canadian company, you would think they would sell products that can be sold in Canada...but oh well, i hope they come out with something that is able to be sold in Canada

    • @lauriemrsnash
      @lauriemrsnash 7 лет назад +2

      Zechner5 I am in Canada and recently ordered the 30% peel from Beauylish. The Ordinary can't sell it directly in Canada due to our stricter rules about the allowable lactic acid %. Because Beauylish is in the US and they do not have the same strict regulations, they can carry the product there. They can then ship that product anywhere. Just a little work around for us Canadians! I ordered 3 bottles to stock up! I have used it a couple of times and it works really well.

    Very informative!! I started using the glycolic acid toner the last month or so along with the vitamin C 30% suspension in silicone and the hyaluronic acid serum. I had no reaction except for tingling that stopped after sometime. I recently ordered the lactic acid 10% and the resveratrol and ferulic acid serum. I used the glycolic acid toner every other night together with the hyaluronic acid, resveratrol and ferulic acid serum and the vitamin C before my moisturizer (since I use a tretinoin cream on its own the other nights) and the lactic acid in the mornings with the ferulic acid and vitamin C with a high spf sunscreen. After a couple of days I woke up with an irritation and flaky skin around my nose and cheeks. I stopped using everything for a while except for moisturizer. Any suggestions why this happened? And how to combine them without a problem?

      missot1991 i would not use them together as they are both acids and can seriously irritate your skin. Salicylic acid is on the more drying side. I would not mix your own because you need to get the right ratio or it could be damaging to the skin.

    Thanks Karen! This was extremely helpful! I watched the entire video and took notes! You answered most of my questions, but I still have one. I have normal skin, no breakouts, and "hearty" as you say. My problem is the dark spots. Do you think any of these would help? Currently I use Retin-A mixed with 2% hydroquinone which has helped but not much. Any suggestions? xo Marlene

    • @TheBeautyMaverick
      @TheBeautyMaverick  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks so much Marlene! I wouldn't recommend acids for dark spots no - I will be doing a skincare routine video for each skin type/issue at some point, so will ensure I cover this, but I'd recommend either Alpha Lipoic acid (video coming on that in next week) or Alpha Arbutin (personally I'd go for this one first). A good dose of Vitamin C in any form would be good too :0) Hope that helps chica! x

      SonR R Hi! I just started with Ole Henriksen that many of my friends recommend, but it's really too soon to tell. Another one that I hear is a good one is the one by Skindeva (pretty pricey). I have high hopes for the Henriksen. There's a trio available called 3 little wonders by Henriksen, so you can try the products first. A little goes a long way, so this trio should last 2 - 4 weeks! Hope this helps! xo

    You're awesome! Thanks for the tips, I have just one question and this is should I apply any moisturizer or lotion after the acid and is there a problem if I do? Also is there a problem if I apply foundation (CC cream) after these and what do you recommend before foundation?

    • @TheBeautyMaverick
      @TheBeautyMaverick  5 лет назад +1

      I would recommend watching my video on how to build a skincare routine, but yes moisturiser can be put on after acids but some people (inc me) like to wait 20 mins. No problem with foundation after those and the only thing before foundation would be Primer. Oh and make sure you use an SPF of course :0) x

    • @tiahnarodriguez3809
      @tiahnarodriguez3809 3 года назад

      @@Zainab-Creates Technically you can, however the problem with using multiple acids at high concentrations is that you can severely irritate and dry out your skin. On top of that both glycolic and lactic acid do the same things just to different degrees, so it’s probably best to pick one acid and use it consistently, or find a product that is formulated with both acids, but that also has the correct ph and % for each acid.

    Hey Love :) I have used the AHA20% BHA2% Peeling mask now two times within one week and my skin is starting to peel a bit in a few places. Is it suppose to do that (after all it's called PEELING solution, right? lol) or does that mean I have done something wrong or maybe my skin can't take it? I left it on for about 8-10 minutes and put some TO buffet on afterwards. It's nothing major, just a few slightly red and dry patches where the skin is peeling a bit. And also I am wondering, if I should continue to use it? Some say, to keep going, especially when skin is peeling and some say to stop immediately. I'm confused :-)))) Thanks for any advice. xxoo

      Ok, so I went ahead and used it again. Skin looks really bright and glowy at first, two days later, again, I am getting these red patches and when I pick on them I can see skin starting to peel off. Should I just stay away from this product? Am I doing something wrong? Please help :-(

    • @elviraschugalla
      @elviraschugalla 5 лет назад +6

      As far as I have heard concerning products like AHA/BHA same as retinols, BPO and so on, it is said, that your skin slowly needs to get used to the products and can react with dryness and red patches. You should go slowly in % - means slowly rising levels, same as amount of use. First once a week, then maybe after a couple of weeks twice a week and so on. Also you should not pick on the skin peeling off manually but wait until it peels off by itself and you can give your skin especially the red patches extra skin care: moisturizer and on top of this a rich and oily formulation to help your skin recover. I've read on the Super Twins Blog that they use "Eucerin Aquaphor" for this purpose. If I encounter red patches and dryness I honestly just apply some Vaseline/petroleum jelly on the spots or a rich formulation which I wouldn't usually use because I have oily skin in the T-zone. Calming incredients like panthenol would be a good idea too, i guess. I hope that helps.

      Do not use them every day or together in the same routine. I would say 3 times a week especially if you have not used acids before. I would also recommend the rice wash off mask from cosrx to lighten your skin or you could mix your own rice if you don't care about the mess and texture.

    Thanks for such a great informative video! I've just started using the salicylic acid mostly for targeted areas where I have more acne or congestion. I'd like to be able to stop using manual exfoliation, so I'm tempted by either the lactic acid or glycolic toner for surface exfoliation (My skin is sensitive so thought about the lactic rather than glycolic). However I already layer two serums including the salicylic so think three might be two much! Which product or regime would you recommend?

    • @carolinaparra3149

      Its not recommended because the peeling solution is known to be strong enough, so the acid toner would irritate the skin (sensitive after de peeling)

    • @TTMW

      There is no need to do that since the 30% peel already has an AHA in it.

    Hi Karen, great video thanks. I have some of The Ordinary products but it can get confusing! I use the Lactic Acid 10% at night, but I leave it on (should I not?) I also have the 2% Retinol. Do you think I can put on the 2% a couple of hours after the lactic acid? I've no irritation at all but I don't know if they can work together? Thanks.

    • @TheBeautyMaverick
      @TheBeautyMaverick  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Val - yes, you should leave the Lactic Acid on. If you wait a few hours, it should be fine to use the 2% Retinoid if that's what you meant, but if you mean 1% Retinol then I wouldn't recommend it as its irritating for most people and this would make it worse potentially. x
