  • This is my video tutorial for the Leonore Backpack by Shamballa Bags. This is the first time I made this Backpack but it won't be the last. It's the first time I used the dreaded Headliner instead of foam and it was a good choice. I have always been dead against using Headliner but I have had to eat my words as I realised it does have it's uses. I find Foam to be too thick and heavy for backpacks.
I added an embroidery design on the centre panel.

Hello Di, please be careful while hammering ok hammered one maker side too much and there magnet wouldn't work... Had too remove them... Put as new one and throw the maker counterpart away

Ah bless you, Thank you I appreciate you warning me. But I have done this for 9 years without an issue. I do buy good quality magnets and maybe this person bought inferior magnets. sadly many people think buying cheap hardware they are getting a bargain. Members of my groups have said they had problems with various hardware and its always the cheap brands from places like china. I am a firm believer in “You get what you pay for” lol. I pay £3.20 for a two pack of Emmaline slim magnets. I know people who pay £3 for ten sets! also, did she fold the prongs in to the middie? If so I can imagine that could damage the magnet especially if its a cheaper one. Just thought I would point all these out for anyone who reads your comment. Its a great point to make and I am very grateful that you brought it to my attention. I will add this to my tutorials as a warning. Thanks so much x

This is another super informative video. The bag is great and the embroidered panel absolutely fantastic. I would love to see how you make these embroidered panels, do you have any videos which cover this? Thank you so much for taking the time to make these super instructional videos.

Thanks hunny. I do have a video on how to Applique but not for the panel. It’s very easy though. I ironed heat and bond lite on to the red cotton, I then stitched the die lines for the pattern, laid the red on top and stitched the tack down stitches. I then trimmed the fabric away from the areas it’s not needed. Once I make sure I have cut it all away I iron it all so the heat n bond fuses the red to the black cotton. Then I stitch the satin stitches. That’s it. Hope it helps.

Thank you. I always use the best cotton inside my bags. This one is a glittery cotton a friend in America sent me

Thank you for the tutorial very informative. Do you think decovil light could be used in place of foam, keeping it out of the seam allowance?

Welcome hun. It can't be used on the sides as they won't fold inwards but you could use it on the centre panels.

why do people not show entire bag in and out?

If by people you mean me, I do show the inside of the bags in my Facebook group and the designers Facebook group. No one has ever actually asked me to video the insides of bags.
