      Hey Josh, something you may want to do a Woodle Park video on, is the zombie proof walls. The old wedges still don't work, however, the Wedge Narrow blocks do. They take 4 blocks to make a full stack, but only takes I block space, just 4 high. So as a possible improvement for throwing a molotov down the pit. Can you place a single ladder from either the ceiling or in the pit itself to hang on so you can look down in a straight line rather than an angle that might nip the edge?

      another method could be a pillar hanging from the ceiling to stop you from falling down. i havent testet it just theorising just now. it should be thick enouth to hinder you fall and thin enouth to allow the molotov to be thown down. if it works like that, it should be idiot proof.

  • @tysonmou1

    Stick a ladder in the bomb chute. If you fall, the ladder will save you.
    And I think the molotov model, when thrown, falls the same way no matter how or where you throw it, so throwing it from some directions is better because the model is less likely to nick the edges.
    But I miss how we used to be able to drop them from inventory, perfect angle straight down every time.

    Idea: Seeing how they tend to bunch up in the corridor before dropping down - I think it would be better if you've made 2 more corridors on either sides of the platform so that they have more access points and won't pile up on top of each other as much. Since the end goal is to have them downstairs ready to be set ablaze and not fight them directly - there's no real reason why you shouldn't have more access points. Also having smooth corners on the outside tend to make it easier for them to path around them.

    • @nonyabisness6306
      @nonyabisness6306 2 года назад +1

      or just build the floaty bit on even surface without a drop or pit. disconnected ramp for player access and it should work the exact same, with less pathing issues.

  • @victorhyman9715
    @victorhyman9715 2 года назад

    JaWoodle: This is how you set up your molotov chute. Start with the circle block 6 blocks from the left edge and 5 blocks down here 24:12 .... Place one inside the hole with the circle 'up'. Place a second one circle 'down' on top of the first.. On top of that circle block place the block 4 blocks from the left edge and 5 blocks down when you were on this screen 20:27 . It looks like a pillar .5 with a round cap on top. To suit your needs, the cap goes up, the pole goes down (honestly I think that any center pillar .5 will work here). You will be able to crouch down and almost fall into the hole, but the pole + the circle thing on the ground prevents you from falling in. I hope that made sense. You probably should also switch the walls below your standing surface to half-blocks as well. It will look the same from the outside, but give you more room to get the molly down.

    I would suggest expanding the base column to 4x4. It would give you a bigger 2x2 shaft to drop molotovs down, 50% more plates to hold everything up, and let you make the drop corridor your normal width. Also, if you put the force field all the way around, it might provide enough structural stability to survive the loss of all the plates.

    • @stevdor6146

    you could add a block at head height to stop from falling in. or instead of a 3x3 make a 3x5 with the middle 1x3 blocks removed so you would have plenty of space to for throwables to be aimed.

  • @Gw2Zoke
    @Gw2Zoke 2 года назад +1

    Some suggestions.
    One, You don't need to make a pit at all for this design to work more or less completely fine. Just building the foating base with a pit seems to work great, especially given that the cross supports were not able to hold up the base if all of the plates on bottom were destroyed anyways. So you can just build this out in the open and not have to dig so much
    Two, If you build the gap 2 by 2 or 3 by 3 wide even, You get to have much easier time throwing the molotovs, and you have a wider area of support on the ground so it's less likely for the zombies to destroy them all. The zombies seem to pick a corner of the "Pillar" to try to attack, but you can easily just angle your throw to hit them all the same.

    Love this, great base. Only two things I would change:
    1. Add a forcefield spine like the one you already have to either of the two sides left and right. That should give this build enough support so it won't collapse when the center pillar gets taken out.
    2. Widen the shoot for the molis. Maybe 2x2 with a cellar door or even 3x3. Just wide enough to reliably be able to not bin the throw half of time xD

      Should work well with a 2x2 hole- but with jus a 1 block chute you could not put the ladder going down more than 1 or 2 blocks- if it was in all the way down im not sure you could throw the moly past it- or not reliably? And while that should work fine with just 1,2, ladder blocks at top, just be careful not to move slightly too far down and fall off.

    I'd have at least three of the four sides using the wedge drops, force field on one side, and that should keep the zombies from piling up too much on the outside -- they'll gather in the center faster. I'd change out the one block hole for a cylinder hole (or a 2x2 square hole) to avoid hitting the sides. You should be able to place sliding doors on all sides to protect you from view without breaking their pathing.
    Idea for the wedge drop + arrow slits: what if you extended the middle block with arrow slits so you could still cross? The zombies should still run off the sides like you want. That way, you could have all four sides built the same way, and never worry about them bunching up. Heck, in a pinch, you could still use upside down hatches to get across the middle if the arrow slots didn't work.

    Edit after thinking more about it it could be the stability glitch if that's still a think in b238, cause spanning 6 blocks with wood frames is 1 block before collapse

    You could also line the outside of the main pillar with plates and use a pole that's the same width as the plates to provide the gap, to add more support

    if you solidly connected the base all the way around with the zombie force field except for the zombie drop, then you wouldn't even have to build the pillar down and there wouldn't be the long chute to aim perfectly down, just a 1 or 1/2 block thick floor in the fighting position. Might need one or two blocks going down just to give the zombies the legs to attack but put them beneath where you are gonna be standing and no worries. Nice base design

    This is great! Could you please do a video on improving the Molotov hole? So that you can avoid setting yourself on fire?

  • @bigjayunior
    @bigjayunior 2 года назад

    Placing a ladder INSIDE the molotov chute at the top will prevent you from falling and allow you to stand directly above it and throw straight down with no problem. ;-)

  • @paulodiaz5774
    @paulodiaz5774 2 года назад

    Hey Josh, you may try to put a ladder in the shoot to prevent you from accidentally fall in it though you may also use this to enter or exit the pit, then maybe use a 1/2 wide cube to widen the the opening for a more successful molotov throw.

    I'm pretty sure this would work if you chuck the molotov at them as they are running into the pit because it only takes one to be on fire and the ones around it are going to burn too.
    Also maybe if you build a half block ledge to the side of the trapdoor so you can stand on it and get a better angle to throw down would help?

  • @DragonicTerror
    @DragonicTerror 2 года назад

    Maybe you can put some ladders in the hatch as a safety mechanic and a way to get up and down for loot.

  • @kerrypratt6077

    If you build the column from wedge tips at the bottom then you should have less likelyhood of your molotov colliding early with a block. I think that's why you are burning yourself when the molly sprite collides with the block sprite. Also if you aim at the center of the red block it should be less likely to have an inadvertent collision.

    Excellent idea. Maybe try it with Arches to give yourself a large circle. Less chance of burning yourself to death. Also, you could try the floating blocks as anchor around your pit that hold the base up. You wouldn't worry about the bottom at all getting destroyed. It would be more resources, but it could create an afk synergy if done well.

    I have to say, I like the actual "Let's Play" episodes better... But these are quite fun too. And you come up with some pretty awesome ideas! This is an amazing base. And I think that you could bring the pit in one block all around, and it might still support the base inside if the plate blocks underneath get destroyed. Something to play around with and see what works best. But all in all, amazing base design! Just add a ladder in the middle so you don't fall in but you can be in the middle when you throw a molly. Always love the muppetry!

    There might be some alternative blocks to use to throw the molotov through and decrease the likelihood of you falling through it yourself.
    I've only done a little bit of testing and that's kinda it, but hopefully, it could be helpful.
    Cube 1m hole: You can stand on this block's corners and still be throwing down some molotov. You can still fall through this block but should be safer than without it. Getting the molotov through shouldn't be more difficult.
    Pole Double Top: It seems to work decently without any issues. It's a U-shaped pole block without any issues to stand on it and throw down a molotov.
    Catwalk V1 Rail Only: Not the best block for this but it is impossible to fall through it so I feel it's worth mentioning. If you position yourself right you should be able to throw a molotov through. Might need some practice though.
    There were a few other blocks but none that I felt were worth mentioning.
    Hope you don't mind me writing a little long comment, but I hope this could be to help! :)

    Would building your "bomb chute" like a funnel work better? Giving you a larger opening at the top to throw the molotovs down so they don't burn you?

    If you do the force field all the way around it should be stable enough that you don't even need the center pillar holding the base up.

  • @dwayneg99

    Pretty sure an easy fix for them destroying the pillar would be to drop down say two blocks into the pit on 3 sides and add arrow slits 2 wide . Just anchor the sides onto a full block under the dirt.

    I built a copy of this base to try out with a horde & when I wasn't setting myself on fire, I fell into the hole & crowd surfed on the zombies till I finally died. I even did 10 test throws before the horde started & only managed to get 4 through. The pimps apparently don't want this in their game.
